I am really not keeping up with road bikes so this was super interesting for me to watch. I knew disc brakes were there, but I was surprised to see the DT swiss through-axle... obviously you cannot route a hose through a suspension fork, so that was also interesting to see, along with the headset routing (some MTBs do that now though to an extent). With AXS this could be a virtually/visually cable/hose free build..... Well, I will never get a road (nor gravel) bike, but it was still interesting to watch to keep up with what's out there.

I've been looking at road bikes for the past 10+ years (in the sport of cycling for 10+ years now, 3+ in the industry as a shop mechanic) and I'm starting to dislike the state of this discipline, in terms of the bikes at least. The 2020s see integrated internal routing (amateurs call this internal routing and anything else as external routing) becoming the norm, so it's no surprise to see 2020s cyclists wanting a bike with such a routing configuration. Some riders from pre-2020 even had the nerve to want this configuration for their bikes that run regular internal routing, which unbeknownst to them unless told by a sufficiently technical mechanic, is impossible. It's easy for people to like this sort of thing because they never work on them and most don't know the hidden truth until the time comes, including, but not limited to, increased labour charges for a once-simple headset bearing service/replacement, stem swap (if the lines were routed inside) and so on.

@@yonglingng5640 I work on my bikes and my least favourite thing is cutting brake lines just to put them through the frame (other than pivot bearings swap :O ) ... That said, I can go 1-2 years riding 5+ days a week on an MTB without swapping headset bearings... It really depends on what brakes too.. Hope connectors can be reused, Shimano is easy to cut/olive. But ... I don't mind cables enough to even go AXS shifter on my bike. I swap shifter cable once a year or when doesn't feel OK and it's a 20 minute job as my bikes have decent hole-to-hole internal tubes, so no fishing with plyers and a flashlight :) On an MTB I understand if you want less cables if you ride in raw trails with lots of branches/bushes, but on a road bike I don't see a reason other than looks. Or if you are THAT FAST, you don't want extra crap hanging and rattling and shaking in the wind. But .. yeah ... zero interest to ride a bicycle on the road ... dirt roads, single track, bike park.... I barely touch a paved road :O

@@denesk2794 As someone who's never dived into the MTB scene before, this is my ideal MTB: Discipline: Trail AL everything, no carbon Easily sourceable rear triangle 27.5-inch wheels (I'm small and I'd like a nimble bike, or so I think) BSA MTB (73 mm) only, no exceptions Regular internal routing (paneled external is OK too, guided internal routing sure is convenient) Shimano SLX/Deore XT + their own brakes if I want familiarity/any aftermarket mineral oil-based brake brand if I'm feeling adventurous Minimum pedal kickback without high-pivot suspension

@@yonglingng5640 I have 2 aluminium and 4 carbon frames. Carbon handlebars and no issues whatsoever. I don't care much for carbon wheels, though I wanted to buy one last week as I was at the Santa Cruz dealer ... but they didn't have any :) .. Carbon cranks is a no-no for me. I don't care for it, I don't want or need it. Also .. there is no issue with DOT fluid. Yes, it is not environment friendly .. that's there, but half a glass would last 5 bikes for 10 years, so probably your dish-soap is a bigger impact if that's why you want mineral oil. Shimano - 4 piston XT or saint is OK, but there is HOPE. Their 4 piston brakes are amazing. That said ... I ride long travel bikes. The shortest I have is 160/140, 150/150 and the longest is 180/178mm ... I just came back from the bike park minutes ago, and I took my 160/140 ebike (as the other one is at the shop for motor swap) ... and I wasn't happy with the travel.... I rode my 180/178 non-ebike yesterday at the same place .... today felt like I felt every rock and pebble and it was exhausting to have just 20/38mm less travel

@@denesk2794rather than pliers, there are two better options. One is quite expensive, but worth it, if you do a lot of cable routing: a cable routing tool. The one we have at the workshop is the Park Tools one. 50 bucks. The less expensive one is a hook made from a spoke. As long as the frame is even okayish, you'll fumble with the hook for a second and guide the cable out. Or the hose for that matter.

This bike was really easy to assemble kzread.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
