Dream Academy - "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" (Official Music Video)

Our cover verion of the Smith's classic. It was used in John Hughes film, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Was not on any of our three albums but was released as a single in 7 and 12 inch formats.

The Smiths' version is done as a plea. This is a prayer. Both versions are excellent. For very different reasons.

I’m bringing a pair of earbuds next time I go to an art museum and I’m just gonna stare at a painting intensely while listening to this song.

I missed this one when it came out originally. So, Kane Pixels brought me here. That's right, a 17 year old filmmaker introduced a GenX old man to a song from his own youth. That speaks to the timelessness of this song.

I have loved this song ever since Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I am amazed by John Hughes' taste in music and how he combined it into his films. RIP Mr. Hughes, you gave a generation an amazing soundtrack.

Everyone describes this song as melancholic and sad, but it's always been more comforting than anything IMO. It emits that 80's innocence.

Always fun to hear different artists interpret a song, and this one's a beauty. Nick's vocal understates the lyric well, and seeing the lovely Kate St. John is worth the price of admission.
