Keef really is underrated in how strong his influence is even a decade later. It's not even just in the US. Imo the UK scene and Australian scene both owe something to Chicago drill for making that loud, abrasive, violent music more popular and mainstream. And in the US you could probably look at the last 10 XXL freshmen lists and find multiple artists who have been influenced in some way by Sosa or the scene he was at the forefront of. Honestly it's a shame he didn't stick around more but he left us with Don't Like and Love Sosa at least. Plus that remix of Don't Like with Kanye, Pusha, Big Sean and Jada was fire

im sure frank talked abt gucci, and thats the thing, jeezy and sosa have the same kinda reason for their true rise in popularity, which is Kanye. Put On and Dont.Like.1 put these two on the map. Gucci is a hero and so is Jeezy, but Sosa pioneered a subgenre of hip-hop. Jeezy and Gucci were part of the southern rap genre, with the slurred and chopped/ slopped songs. Sosa started his own shit, we never said he put hardcore rap back on the map.

Keith Farrelle Cozart (born August 15, 1995), better known by his stage name Chief Keef, is an American rapper. His music first became popular during his teen years in the early 2010s among high school students from Chicago's South Side. In 2012, his popular local single "I Don't Like" was remixed by American rapper Kanye West and reached the Billboard Rap Top 20, further raising Cozart's profile. A bidding war between major labels resulted in Keef signing with Interscope. His debut album Finally Rich was released in December 2012, and featured the singles "I Don't Like" and "Love Sosa", which would popularize the Chicago rap subgenre drill.
