Craig Hodges, phenomenal shooter, did indeed practice for the tournament the entire year! Their was actually video out of him doing it pre internet. BIRD on the other hand started working on his 3 ball the same week. It’s crazy to think about BIRDS confidence as a shooter, as a little kid I would go to games early with my Dad who had seasons tickets (I’m blessed to have seen BIRD 85 times. We would always watch early shoot around, and I used to see BIRD do some magical shots. LOGO 3’s yes, Lefty 3’s yes, no look shots etc. One of the coolest memories was when BIRD was being interviewed before the game while shooting left handed free throws. BIRD had a sarcastic look on his face the whole interview as he knew a bunch of us little kids were watching him. As he continued to talk to the reporter, all us kids started shouting 34, 35, 36, 37! He hit 37 straight lefty free throws before the interview was over, then winked at us kids. BIRD is a BB genius who was decades ahead of players. Now we are finally seeing guys catch up, and it’s a blast to see. BUT a few things remain: No one still walks over to the other teams bench during a pressure cooker times out in the last final seconds of a game and tells the other team (and Coach) what he was going to do - then successfully pulls it off. The other is, the fact that he had the balls to go out and play with his opposite hand and drop 37 effortlessly. Who’s doing this now? And finally, no one has BIRDS desire to cold bloodily kill you. His nature was just different, just ask Magic and MJ😊

In 5 years it’s a dumb take, contract trends have continued to go this way. Players performing near the top of the league want top of the league money, excluding TLAW from this though because he doesn’t deserve top of the league money. The markets continue to move upward for positions on both sides of the ball, and it’s crazy that people criticize contracts that keep franchise guys in these small markets.

The Goff contract is a win for everyone. The Lions have shown that if you stay and grind you will get paid. That builds and reinforces their culture.

The problem is, there will be no money to pay these guys. When you pay your QB that much, you become extremely limited in where to spend your money
@nicholasbourcierСағат бұрын
@@Thatrandomdude1315 Not exactly. Goff's contract will be 18% when it kicks in. This is not taking into consideration the salary cap will continue to increase like it always does. Also, QB is the single most important position in football. The chances of drafting a rookie and them turning out to be good enough to win a Superbowl is very low. It's a lot easier to get worse at the position than better. Secondly, the argument for percentage of salary and Superbowl winning QB is highly flawed. It has more to do with having a generational QB than it is how much you are paying the QB. Look at the past decade or so of Superbowl winning QB's.

I don't disagree with the take but the notion that the Bills were bad during the 6-6 stretch should be dispelled. 4 of the 6 losses, were self inflicted. The team was reeling from losing 3 key defensive pieces and was just starting to get it going again defensively when they faced the Bengals yet only lost by 6 points. The record could have easily been 9-3 despite the stagnant and predictable offense.
