I’ll never forget. Mark Jackson’s first year the Warriors would hold “open practices” at Oracle Arena. You could buy tickets as fans and attend the open practice, they were awesome to see and slightly interactive with the fans. Me and my dad attended one and halfway throughout, Mark Jackson points me out of the crowd and tells me to walk on down and come sit on the bench with all of the Warriors🔥. I was like 12 at the time and meeting Steph, Bogut, Barnes, Lee and all the OGs was insane. Not only did he make an amazing life long memory for me, it stuck out on how much of an amazing caring person he was. He didn’t have to do that, but he’s just a super genuine person. The warriors wouldn’t reach the level they did without the Mark Jackson years.

Wow, what a blast. As a teen, we knew the manager of the roast beef sandwich shop and the bar at the Forum in Inglewood. A little OG took tickets at the side entrance and recognized us and let us in free. Preseason games had a few thousand fans and seats as close as 5 rows behind the bench were open. Just move quick if the seat/ticket owners came, usually season ticket holders. A few times a player would come shake our hands. Cheering at a preseason game is a lot easier for players to hear and they appreciate it. Scott, Magic, Worthy, even Kareem came up with McAdoo to give my cousin and I a Laker hat, I still have it, but it's beat up pretty bad. I like your story plus in Norcal for 20 years, now a diehard Dubs fan

The stupidity of the internet is exemplified by so many of these comments. Two things can be true: Mark Jackson developed the Warriors into a good team and obviously deserves credit for that, especially when it comes to recognizing and developing the greatness of Steph and Klay, as well as taking the defense up a notch. And Steve Kerr took the foundation and developed it to a championship level by implementing an offense that got the most out of the talent there, not just Steph and Klay, but Draymond, Andre Iguodala, Leandro Barbosa, Bogut, Speights, and later Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins, among others. Wiggins played his best basketball for Kerr, as did Poole. Now Kuminga has taken a leap and no one wants to give Kerr any credit, they just want to bash him for not playing him more sooner, as if it was inevitable that he would be this good and Kerr not playing him was the only thing holding him back. Ever consider that maybe he needed this time to develop? Players for the most part respect Kerr and love playing for him. Mark Jackson can get plenty of credit without anyone needing to bash Steve Kerr. As a Warriors fan, I appreciate them both, and I'm riding with Kerr until he decides he's done.

That's the same as saying Doug Collins made the Bulls and Phill Jackson just reaped the benefits. Just like Phill, Steve didn't just inherit a good team. He made them great with his strategies and line-ups. All the decisions he made, including starting Dray and benching Iggy, the motion offense and the death line-up, those things made the Warriors great.

And this is the difference.....alot of this weird fan base hates on mark but kerr is just a system, nothing more nothing less. Mark actually put confidence and belief in his young players while kerr has a talent and alpha like kuminga and has spent 3 years trying to hold him back...tell him he is only shawn marion...not play him to his strengths and even try to force him out the rotation multiple times lol we prasie kerr for what mark jackson built.....wouldnt surprise me if kerr quit on our championship core when they were young because of there faults if he was coaching at that time, this is why he likes finished products because he doesnt know how to trust a process.

To say Steve Kerr is just a system is complete disrespect to what he’s done. Yes Mark Jackson built the foundation and instilled the confidence, but Steve Kerr is fantastic with personality/ego management, strategy, lineups (especially in playoffs), and he taught the Dubs how to play with joy. Mark Jackson doesn’t get appreciated enough for building the foundation, but Steve Kerr is great too. 2 very good coaches, different strengths and weaknesses

@@btheproblem3 before Kerr, warriors were a second round exit playoff team that gave up lots of double digit leads. Kerr set up the offensive system and pioneered Curry’s off ball movement schemes. He pioneered the Warrior’s small ball lineups that destroyed teams opposing centers, and made their defense more versatile with lineups of players who could switch onto anybody without much weakness being exposed. Just listen to Draymond talk about Kerr and you’ll get it. Mark Jackson installed the foundational confidence and grit of the team, Kerr installed better systems to take the team over the top. -bay area native and lifelong warriors fan

Here are reasons why Mark Jackson got blackballed. He isn’t a good enough coach for teams to deal with these issues: * Cheated on his wife with a stripper, then got blackmailed by the prostitute + some other guy, while at the same time being a born-again pastor * Bristled at Mike Malone being the assistant coach under him (ownership wanted him to be the Associate Head Coach, but when Jackson found out he said NO WAY) * Didn't let assistant coaches do interviews with press because he thought they were gunning for his job * Pushed Malone out because Jackson thought Malone was gunning for his job * Ran ISO-ball all the time * Instilled a "us vs them" where the "them" was the entire front office. He would tell the players that the front office didn't want them to win and broke organization communication * Barred Jerry West and Jim Barnett (beloved TV color guy) along with everyone else from practices so they couldn't hear the crazy shit he said to the team * Told the team Ezeli was rooting for them to lose so that Ezeli would look better (he was injured). This culminated in Ezeli in tears saying that there was no way he would do this, when confronted by the team * Told the team that Harrison Barnes was possessed by a demon, which is why he regressed * Darren Erman, the assistant responsible for the defense after Mike Malone left, was recording Mark Jackson surreptitiously to try and capture the crazy shit like the Harrison Barnes demon thing and the Ezeli thing, but was caught and fired * Noted homophobe, including the "I'll pray for him" when discussing Jason Collins coming out. This doesn't fly in the bay area when a lot of the team staff is gay and so is the front office, including the COO/President Rick Welts * Didn't want to hire actual good assistants, instead, he hired yes-men like Pete Myers and Lindsay Hunter, who backstabbed Alvin Gentry in Phoenix to get the head job * All the coaching staff were allying themselves with star players instead of the players who actually needed their help/development, so a lot players like Barnes didn't get the development time and help they needed * He put players against each other, telling a star player "hey that bench thinks he's better than you" and then telling the bench guy "hey that star guy thinks you're shit, go take his job" * Didn't get along with anyone in the front office, including Jerry West, Bob Myers, and actually the rest of the employees (marketing, PR, etc) * No preparation. He said in the Clippers series that he didn't need to prepare extra hours, when Doc Rivers was up all night devising schemes

Bro you and I both know that is not why he isn’t hired. And it has nothing to do with race. No one is a bigger A-hole than Doc Rivers. He keeps a job. Billy Donovan.

@donielledavis2793 bro go listen to what he did to Festus Ezeli go listen to Andrew Bogut Brian Scalabrine Joe Lacob and hear what they have to say about him. The stuff about gays cant be proven but the drama and fights with players coaches and staff is 100% reql no one wants him he is a problem. Go look what happen3d to him at the start of this season with the NYKnicks and why ye got removed.

Mark jackson is dumb, plain and simple. Remember he didn't put Jokic in the top 5 mvp candidate last year. Embiid deserved it last year but jokic not in top 5 is pure stupidity.

Kerr is a great guy … decent coach but he is weak at player development. I’m not sure he can do anything else with this team anymore . But what do I know , I can’t trash the guy .

I don't think it's an opinion at this point lol I mean he literally tried to take our best athlete and 2nd best scorer out the rotation, the only guy who provides rim pressure

@@luannecopelton-wf1vu if you think about, Kerr's accomplishment without the key guys has been poor. On top of his poor player development, poor rotation and many games giving up lead to lose game at the end, he has really nothing to show for. I give him credit on some level but he is way way far from the likes Coach Pop, Spo, of the worlds

There goes the clue, Kerr is on his way out, soon to be replaced by Mark Jackson. He can control the Tantrum of Lazy bad shot Klay.
