These bags can be used for produce or as any type of project or gift bag.
Finished Bag measures approx 12" X 16" (30cm X 40cm)
In this easy DIY sewing tutorial, I show you how to use the Burrito method to make a reusable drawstring bag.
Use cotton netting or any type of strong mesh for bag and cotton fabric for the top and centre bands.
Make the drawstring with fabric or use cording or tape.
You can also add a spring cord lock on ends of drawstring.

Why not make these drawstring bags extra special when giving as gifts. You can embroider something or simply sew a patch on the front.
I liked this produce bag as the best so far. The video is well shot to see details, each step is illustrated, and the design is artful. Thank you!

Thank you so much😊
I also meant to say in my previous comment, that I love that when you finish one of your sewing projects there are no raw seems or things you have to hem by hand. It is complete and looks professionally done!

Thanks for noticing.😊. I’m a stickler for a nice professional finish. I’m not a fan of handstitching seams closed so try to avoid whenever I can. Thanks for watching🙏

I love your videos. I went and bought 6 yards of mesh to make a gaggle of these from your other video and my machine said “nope, ain’t happenin’; no way, no how”. I do get some relief using tear away stabilizer that I use with my embroidery machine, but that gets tedious and expensive. Also, you used that fabric in your video for the tea towels, but I can’t remember if you ever said what it is. I love it! Thanks for providing another great video!
@NotchesSewing

Thanks Vicki. This fabric is just cotton quilting fabric. I love it too. Did you try different needles to sew the mesh? Using stabiliser would be a bit of a headache each time. Try putting some masking tape under your presser foot. Change to ball point needle or even zig zag to see if it helps.
Too cute! These will be so handy for wet items like towel and swimsuit on vacation or gym. Also when I’m finished in the garden for my wet rags, gloves, and arm sleeves. So many ideas with these cute bags. Thank you! Where did you get your produce cotton fabric and the colored weave fabric please? I’d like to buy some.

Angela, love your videos, I'm still making the kitchen towels for gifts, everyone loves them! Wondering if you would share your source for the netting, I found one that looked comparable but it had poly in it Another great video! Thank you!

Thank you Debbie! I bought my cotton netting from Spotlight here in Australia. I could not find a link for similar on Amazon. Will have more designs soon. Cheers!
Hi Angela! Love the tutorial and can’t wait to make a bunch as I just purchased your pattern! Quick question : in the pattern download it provides templates for the various pieces; however, it would seem that these are rectangles. Could you kindly advise if there is a special advantage to using the templates versus simply cutting the complete dimension. Many thanks ☺️
@NotchesSewing
Жыл бұрын
Thanks Catherine! You certainly can just cut out the complete dimensions. Pattern pieces are there for convenience. You can quickly see if you have enough fabric if using scraps. Thanks again for the support and let me know how you go. 🙂

Okay, that’s brilliant! I was sure there was a logical reason! That will make for some scrap-tastic bags ☺️. Thank you from a grateful Canuck 🇨🇦
Mesh can be kind of stretchy so I'm wondering what stitch length you used? Should the thread tension be adjusted as well? Thanks for sharing this project 🙂
@NotchesSewing
Жыл бұрын
I just used 2.5 stitch length and normal tension. Best to test on a scrap for your mesh.

Would these bags not add extra weight to the cost of the produce if using the fabric bands?
@NotchesSewing
Жыл бұрын
The finished bag without a cord lock weighs about to grams. Depending on what you are buying, just weigh before bagging the produce or make my easier produce bag out of just lightweight mesh and it should weigh half as much. It’s worth the effort to stop using the plastic bags. Cheers!
Where did you find that mesh? Could one use the Mesh produced By Annie or is that not strong enough?
@NotchesSewing
Жыл бұрын
Mesh bought here in Australia’s. If the mesh is used for bags, it will be fine. Cheers!
Where do you purchase tye cotton netting please?

I just bought netting from Spotlight here in Australia. Fabric shops should have it for costumes and crafting.
You put the finished product size but not cutting sizes of each piece.😔
