However, I must say that it didn't give me much emotional value, while Robot Dreams made me feel the most emotional I have ever felt for a movie. And I think this is because there was no dialogue in Robot Dreams, so the entire story had to be told through animation and music. That is an amazing accomplishment and I felt that Boy and the Heron somewhat fell flat compared to the other ghibli movies, especially since the timeline of the story got mixed up and was hard to follow.

Ninety-Five Senses and Robot Dreams are so fantastic, so glad they got the Oscar noms!

Even though I want The Boy and the Heron to win Best Animated Feature, it will be a surprise if Robot Dreams won that Oscar like when Big Hero 6 unexpectedly won it almost 10 years ago.

Big Hero 6 was the most obvious option to win that year since it's fellow nominees were an indie movie, a non-American movie or a Dreamworks sequel to a movie that didn't win the award. Kaguya obviously should have won but it was no surprise at that point that Big Hero 6 won

Why is it always so hard to find the shorts?! Documentary shorts are generally pretty easy to find, but every year I'm unsuccessfully searching for easy ways to watch the Live Action and Animated shorts. It's such a shame.

Agreed! It’s not like shorts make much money. Studios should put all Oscar nominated shorts on KZread or major streamers so their creators can get the recognition they deserve by more people in the mainstream viewing them

@@thecinematicmind 3 out of 5 docu shorts are on KZread. Usually most of the nominees are from news organisations like the NY or LA Times, Washington Post etc. They tend to post their short docs for free.

'Boy and the Heron' I get, cuz there's a high chance Miyazaki just doesn't care enough to participate in these things, but come on, no 'Nimona' or 'Elemental' being a part of this Collage? Is there gonna be a part two to this where more of these Nominees get to draw another Collage?

Agreed, these other films look great but imo (and i might be a bit biased because I haven't seen the other best rated ones like Spiderverse) The Boy and the Heron is the best animated film of the year

they were working on a semi-slavery regime for this movie thanks to marvel/sony, so much most quit after the movie was done that was not a good example on animators pouring their heart into something, unless you meant literally, like, losing their own health and stuff.

​@@Spider-Nefilo Sorry, but there are a few methods of being an animated movie directors. There are live-action directors that want to work on an animated project and they get themselves an assistant that can help them convey their vision. Director's job is to show what you want and lead a crew to make a final result be like your vision. FUN FACT: One of the directors of Into The Spider-Verse never worked in animation and was just a friend of Lord and Miller.

I'll be honest Spider-Verse film is cringe and plot and everything is plain and obvious which is not something new except visual aspective. Boy and the Heron deserves an Oscar and deep of storytelling is uncomparable to that spider film.
