dex is an entire mood

To me at least, Dex seems like an introvert-type of person, where she's closed off around people she doesn't know and acts shy, but once you make friends with her she's actually crazy and fun. She's obviously an animal lover (probably a dog person) and is the one who might make like semi-sarcastic remarks that make the other two laugh. Dex also seems like the one who just says random stuff sometimes, but is very good at picking up on the others' feelings. She also looks like she's probably a lot better at math than the other two. Scoot seems like a leader and a bit more of an ambivert. She's super feminine, and probably likes to be in charge of everything. She can probably tell what to say do in certain social situations, and is very knowledgeable in how people think, like social intelligence, though she probably isn't as smart in the classroom, or at least math, but she doesn't seem the school type. Scoot probably only comes to school to see her friends, or at least that's what she says but she actually really enjoys like science or something idk. Wheels is pretty much the extrovert of their small friendship group and is super cheerful and optimistic all the time, but she knows when to turn it up or down for the situation. She's very good at making her friends laugh and is always talking to new people. She probably loves candy/lollies or something and is the kind of person who's not very good at coping without seeing her friends for at least a day. She also seems like she would be secretly smart, because she still does really well or at least passing acceptably on all her tests but doesn't pay much attention in class so no-one knows how she got such good scores. Wheels probably talks to Scoot and Dex throughout every class but still manages to get the work done and they're just like 'how??' Waffles, this basically what i thought of them just from watching you draw them and talk about them! I hope you like it, and please correct me if you think some of this doesn't match up with your amazing characters ❤

Same right before this video I was making a milkshake and I was so excited and then the bottom of the blender unscrewed itself slightly and half the milkshake exploded out of the bottom of the blender and I thought I broke it and started freaking out and milkshake was everywhere it wasn't suppose to be 😅😂 I got like a third of the milkshake in a cup at least and it turns out the blender isn't broken it just got half unscrewed but yeah.... Moral of the story be careful with blenders and when your milkshake ends up all over the counter watch this video 🤣

I have trouble fleshing out the personalities of my characters as well, and I’ve found what helps is to imagine/draw the characters as the opposite gender. It removes any original stereotypes and makes their most prominent traits easier to see.

For personalities, I assumed that Dex was that one girl that’s in a lot of cartoons with poor impulse control and is really chaotic and fun and teachers hate her but love her too and her friends would watch her go down the stairs in a laundry basket like “what the hell are you doing now”

I think that weelz should be like a pro roller skater instead because ice skating and roller skating are pretty different and have completely different athletics

I feel like wheels might be even shorter with her skates off, which she doesn't really like, and that's why she's always wearing them to make her just a bit taller.

Yeah it's kind of sad. Everyone says she's really extroverted but she seems to keep to herself even with her friends. In the first sketch Dex and Scoot are holding hands while she's just... there. And during the hug, she's hugging herself probably thinking she'd be left out of the hug (actually almost happened until Rin decided to make Scoot hug her too). Even in the ice-cream/walking drawing, Dex and Scoot are talking but again she's just there.

I made a poem about Skid and I want everyone to hear it: He protecc He atacc But most importantly: He bring that ball bacc (cause skid good boy and he need no leash to walk home)

When you were drawing Dex's redesign, you tossed around the idea that she should have like, a beanie for a hat. And then, you didn't know what to do with her helmet when you drew them hugging, so what if Dex wears a beanie when she's not wearing her helmet? Like, it would remind her of her helmet, bc her mom wont let her wear it in the house or something.

I really like the new dex design, and giving her a more shy personality really fits that. She gives me the vibe of being the new kid in school that is really shy but super talented with skate and wheels sees her one day practicing alone and its like "oh look, is my new best friend!"

I feel that Scoot is 14, but her parents shop for her clothes and a kids store, so her clothes are kidish. She has overprotective parents, but is a great friend.

I think what could help “mature” Scoots design while still making her seem like she’s in her very young teen (10-14) would be giving her a square neckline in her romper with thick straps, she reads to me like the most traditionally feminine of the group so perhaps something that could help setting her apart a little bit from the other girls could be ruffle accents in her romper straps and maybe the hemlines of her romper shorts? Than with the horizontal striping and heart detail it kind of give her a more child like design despite the more mature cut of the romper

Why not give Scoot short overalls with the heart on them? Those could be pink, and her tshirt would be white with turquoise cap sleeves. Her socks could be white with vertical turquoise stripes. (I do love the outfit you gave her too!)

I know this is rlly late but what I sometime do for my characters is I give them a 60/20/10 color layout. 60% of their main color, 20% of a complimentary color and 10% of a neutral color. Idk that’s just what I do. I love the new design for Skootz btw!

The color scheme is literally Yellow, Cyan, Magenta nice! Primary colors at its finest.

They are all so precious, I love them! >u

I really love the one where they are gossiping they looked so pretty and cute together and it showed alot of personality and i just loved they way they looked

I feel that Skoot and Weelz would be closer, and they would've known each other longer. I think that Weelz would be outgoing, extroverted, popular, and she's not afraid to beat anyone up if they mess with her or her friends. I think that Skoot would be the mom of the group, with anything they would ever need. I think that she would be the most trusted in the group. She probably is insecure and compares herself to the others, but she doesn't speak up about it. I think that Dex is shy but once you get to know her, she's a complete crackhead. She might be the innocent one of the group, who's the most troubled. I think that she would have social anxiety and could possibly fall into depression, but she knows that her friends are they for her and they help her! :-) Since Skoot and Weelz are closer, I think that Dex would have a guy best friend, who's super protective and kind. ((they could eventually catch feelings for each other haha)) They would all get along really well and it would add more to their story! You could also play around with their sexuality! I think that Dex wouldn't be completely straight, and neither would Skoot haha.

Powerpuff girls hair. The heart ponytail, the bubbly pigtails, the blocky Bob cut. I mean, it's cute and not that obvious, but you gotta be aware of the parallels. For buttons on the skirts and pants, I try to remember where they go on me if I'm drawing a girl and then go the opposite for a boy. Which one of then is the over prepared mom friend? Maybe its DeX and her magic hoodie pocket that has everything the girls will ever need? Or wheelz has a little strappy bag, surprise everyone who thinks she's just the baby of the group. Skoot might have a fanny pack (they're in style here in florida) and be the ever reliable leader! If you do them older, moving the character faces from the outfit to accessories would be an easy way to touch on the fact that they're growing and still friends. The final art piece looks like a fun illustration! Great job!
