What works for me with my anxiety (although it might not work for yours, everyone's anxiety is different and everyone deals with it differently) is to logically tell myself there's nothing to worry about, state the facts of the situation to shut down the irrational worry, and just push through my anxiety and go do whatever the heck I have to go do. Usually my anxiety is in anticipation of a problem that doesn't exist, so if I can show it that the problem doesn't exist, I'm good to go!

For me pushing myself to do really small steps even if I didn't feel ready was helpful:) I practiced saying hello and waving to strangers as I walked past them if they looked at me. No conversation or prolonged contact just hi and leave. But I was not feeling ready for it...it got better though. I upgraded to asking if people who look like they're struggling need help and helping them , casual conversation, and even inviting people for food!

Try doing drawing warmups!! Sometimes i feel so anxious when i want to draw so i do warm ups Just sketch random stuff Maybe use a reference from Pinterest Or maybe hands Or a tree Or random anatomy Just a couple of stuff to make u feel comfortable before u stsrt drawing Drawing other stuff to warm up really takes off the pressure of starting something new so you can be more mentally prepared for ur main sketch

Pineapple mermaid “Maybe this time I’ll remember to draw the hands!” Promptly forgets to draw the hands. I completely adore the very round lemon mermaid and her fashion statement apron. She’s so cute!

Just as a reminder when drawing mermaids (or other things found in water) gravity plays differently and you can make a lot of fun effects, especially with hair when you incorporate that ^_^ Still love the drawings though! Just thought you or others might like the suggestion ♥

I love that Rin says “drawing small is easier to focus on shapes and silhouette” bc i always preferred to draw smaller than larger and my friends always were like “draw bigger!!! Why do you scrunch your drawings into the margins of your homework??” And that’s why.

You should make a coloring book with all of your favorite characters one day. I would buy that in a second. Your art style is the cutest! I am obsessed! I think you would make a cool coloring book.

Rin going on a tangent about the half a dead fish that somehow got in her front yard is one of the best things that I've heard today. Like I've been feeling not the best as of recently and that lil tangent cheered me up a lil bit 💜

I love how you include you planning process. It helps so much to see the ideas develop.

These are so cute! I'd forgotten about MerMay and this inspired me to get back into it!

Rin: I'm having so much fun with this one Rin: *makes inhuman noises Me: that's what you do when you're having fun?

For the watermelon mermaid, if you wanted it to be redder, you could've made the tail red and added scales in a black or dark brown color to mimic the seeds a bit. And, in order to incorporate the green, you could move the green up and have a striped bra as well as keep the hair green and make it one of the kinda curled/buffed bobs to make the round-ish shape of a watermelon.

I love how she adds so many shapes and sizes into her characters! Idk, it kinda makes me like her more? it’s like she’s including everyone.

I love how this is both a video to do a cool challenge to show off your epic art skills AND, in some ways, a tutorial for little things that are so important to budding artists. 😊
