Great video. I am newbie to drawing and just watched countless loomis heads now need to re think lol .thankyou great channel. Keep up.the good work.
please make more video dude..... you are so good at teaching......even i can understand.
Thank you Sir
Great video. Especially for me as a beginner, this video is a profitable contribution. Because I'm still a beginner, I'm still very open to different approaches. But your approach already seems very logical to me. I'm looking forward to part II.
Please like and share this video. This is really a valuable content.
Thank you so much for sharing this method. This approach is much more in line with how my brain works and is a great strategy for starting heads. I can't wait to watch the rest of the series.

I can identify with what you said about the lumis method. I also leared it. I feel that starting from a box is easier for me. It better sets the perspective and create a since a volume to place the head in

That's an interesting method too. That reminds me a bit of how Kim Jung Gi would draw. It's nice to learn a few methods in order to have several tools at hand to apply to different situations.
Thanks, Brian, spot on tutorial with the draw-over on the photos. I struggle with placement with the head tilts backwards, would you consider a similar video for such angles? I realise we must problem solve, but an update goes a long way with confidence and line placement when the thirds rule no longer seems to fit.👏

I've always had trouble making different styles of heads for like cartoons and things using the Loomis method because the head shapes all kind of end up being the same
@foundationartschool
Жыл бұрын
Definitely. The Loomis method is good as a general idea, but it's really a starting point. It's helpful for simplifying the head in order to apply perspective in a simple way, but it's also super important to go further and learn to draw nuances in different head shapes and proportions.
I hope you will post more details about the anatomy 🥲💖

Definitely! This is the first of a whole series. Each video will build on the concepts covered in the last with more information including anatomy.
Please can you adjust the camera to be perpendicular to the drawing paper to not have any distortion as i keep drawing what you do while watching and comparing. Thanks Brian for the tutorial very useful and I got many useful information ♥♥
@foundationartschool
Жыл бұрын
Good eye for spotting that angle! The camera is positioned as perpendicular as possible, but unfortunately if it were perfectly perpendicular my head would block the paper. 😅 I'm glad you enjoyed the instruction none the less. I will post undistorted photographs of the drawings in the community tab for all the instructional videos I do in this series.

It’s all true what you say I would draw from live models and it all was ellipses legs arms feet , I understand!
How did you find the centrelime at 11:20 ? Thanks for the content !
Hi buddy . Really enjoy the content. Could you plese make corner reference images slightly bigger plese ? Your drawing angle is very nicely done but following that small reference is almost impossible. Appreciate free content

@@foundationartschool thank you for your response. I feel like I been too harsh with my criticism. It is Still Grate content . I am drawing on Ipad and watch and follow you from my phone. Today I had your method playing on TV and reference size seemed fine . BTW I really like your method . I been stuck on Loomis head and hands on the very beginning for months... all good redrawing his work but when trying it by myself I was always off...

@@gregpanasiuk3349 thanks for letting us know. We plan on producing a lot of these so we need all the feedback we can get. And i know what you mean about the loomis heads. They gave me a really hard time at the beginning and it wasn't until years later that i was able to look back and understand why. Hopefully this tutorial series will save people from some of the difficulties i had as a student.

New tutorial video coming out tonight!
I would like to know, how do you rotate the head in space with the Reilly method when you are creating you own head, wouldn’t that be the great thing about the Loomis method???
@foundationartschool
24 күн бұрын
The Reilly method was designed as a way to work from photo reference which is why I have stopped using it. I was trained to use the Reilly method at Watts but over they years I have realized it has many limitations. I have switched to a more constructive type method that is a hybrid of all of the different methods I have studied combined with some of my own ideas. My classes use photo reference but the way I draw/teach is designed to teach students constructive methods that can be used for figure and head invention when they get to be more advanced. There are some concepts about rhythms that I learned from the Watts version of the Reilly method that I still use but generally I would say that I don't use the Reilly method anymore.

Which book should I prefer for anatomy as a beginner?

I know he didnt respond but Morpho has some nice books that are short and digestible. Moroho’s simple forms would be good to start with but they have other books depending on what you’re looking for.

Morpho has terrible drawings…
With Loomis method,it always troubles me... It's a bit confusing to find centreline and the thirds, when the head is in different angles... This box method is kinda easy for me...
