    For Jacob, the Chinese dress you’re looking for is called a qipao. They’re classically pretty form fitting, not skin tight but more like a sheath cocktail dress or pencil skirt. They typically have a mandarin collar with a small keyhole cutout on the chest/bodice, as well as being sleeveless. There are slits for movement on both sides of the skirt, though they usually stop at mid thigh. The length of the dress can be cocktail/knee length or calf/ankle length. The dress itself is made from silk or satin and can come in many different colors and patterns

  • @thebadpoet

    @thebadpoet

    9 ай бұрын

    Just compounding the knowledge a bit, “silk or satin” is a somewhat nonsensical way of describing fabric. Silk is a fiber, and comes in a huge variety of weaves, including satin. Satin is a weave and can be made in a range of fibers. Satin is smooth and shiny looking because the weft threads (the crosswise threads) travel over multiple warp (up and down) threads at a time.

    Kudos for not breaking the Geneva Convention. While it is quite a serious issue, it also is quite funny that videogame studios keep getting reminders and having to patch their games, because of using the red cross as a health symbol. Gotta love all the patch notes saying "no longer breaking the Geneva convention". xD

  • @ZackC

    I know a number of games have transitioned away from the red cross symbolism, but - aside from Prison Architect getting a “just FYI” e-mail in 2017 - I’ve never seen another case, and certainly never an attempted lawsuit. It seems like this is a situation where an overzealous British Red Cross employee single-handedly created a game dev superstition.

    Hearing Karina talk about an artist she really likes that is private because it would be TMI makes me wonder how many artists have huge secret influences from artists that primarily draw NSFW art. Like there could be an entire undercurrent of influence in the artist community that is an open secret because nobody wants anyone else to know too much about those things.

    My life drawing prof in college told us porn is one of the best pose research tools we could use. One of my favorite examples of the "censorship" is from the vtuber Kiryu Coco (now retired). She was a dragon girl, and she often told stories about her father. And whenever she brought him into a video or told an anecdote about him, he was illustrated as Shenron from Dragon Ball, with a tiny little black bar over his eyes. Do you realize how small Shenron's eyes are compared to his, like, mile-long body? It was flawless visual comedy.

    The dodgeball game sounds fun! The girl on the left of the cover image has a similar design to my fave character from the Puchi Carat game! Jacob's interpretation was really accurate! 😊 Karina drawing the secret king of kendo is iconic! Her design reminds me of a character I can't pinpoint... but I think it may be another Karina drawing? 😂 Julia's character is seriously legendary! The original character reminds me of early 2000s internet searches for anime characters. And I have a vague memory of Excel Saga, but have no idea if I ever properly watched it. The episode concepts are getting wild and I love it! XD
