I would think that the reason why most "tips" tell you that you have been doing "art" wrong would be because before the internet where any picture is considered "art", most people had to formally study the particular art form they wanted to be considered an artist in. Even know some people still go and formerly study art and I suppose it must be annoying to see some of the things people call art, that are really just pictures. I mean this is if you consider visual arts like painting, there were various artistic movements that contained similar styles, in terms of themes, colours, style, motifs, brush strokes, medium, etc so critics could study this to see which master the person studied under and so on. I only studied art up to what Americans call High School, so I can't explain well. We can look at someone like Henri Rousseau who was self-taught like most so called artists online. He too was laughed at and mocked for his "childish" work by the educated artists and critics of his time but obviously he is not seen like that now.

I read on the internet once that anime/manga artists have to be really skilled at realism because it's only when you fundamentally know how a person's supposed to look that you can abstract it and make a cartoon feel like a living character
@taniaruiz1921
4 ай бұрын
@@p3ter9000 yeah! that’s actually it, that’s why rn i try to focus more in figures and objects rather than details like i used to, to comprehend more and better structure, like have a better understandment of the object itself, i’m training my eye and brain to perceive important and charactering details so when i try and simplify the object/person i can still resemble those important traits and not loose any essence!, going back to the basics really really works :))

First you should study the style of the show, copy it a few times and understand what makes it unique and recognizable. When that’s done you can apply the concepts of the video: simplify the shapes of your family members’ features and add elements of the Family Guy style. It might take a few tries to do it, enjoy the process 🙌

Oh my God this helps me so much. My dream is to become an artist but everyone used to say that my sketches and drawings and paintings were not nice and I had this classmate he said that they look like trash so I gave up on my dreams and then a few months ago I said you know what I shouldn’t care about what people say or I shouldn’t care about what people think so I’m gonna keep going and then I realized that I was actually really good at art that time since I took a really big break I wasn’t that good anymore but I didn’t let that get to me I kept doing what I love and now I’m better and I’m only better because of you and your videos.❤❤❤❤ Thank you so much for this love you.

Oh this is basically how I draw the Gorillaz band characters! Glad to know it’s just a good rule of thumb for any cartoon in this style!
Thank your for this you’re the best. how tf did you fit this much useful info in a short!
Awesome advice! I love the breakdown; I've been doing art so long it's at that awkward stage where I can't even properly explain the process to my nephews. This is truly great, thank you for this!
Shape study! My best friend ever, could not agree with this video more, studying how to break stuff down into shapes is super helpful and fun
Sometimes you need to be reminded of the basics, thank you ❤
You made it simple to me who's still struggling to find my own art style. You earned a sub!
She makes it looks so easy
Shapes are everything, everyone! ❤ drawing with most art styles basically break down into simple shapes!
Basically: draw whatever the frick you want, ART IS ART!
I think the step „study the hair shape“ was the most useful piece of advice 👍
How I draw my carton characters: 1) Pick how you want to draw your characters (My case: Circle head, ball hands and Blitzø’s feet) 2) Add hair and clothes (simple or complicated, up to you) 3) ovals and 3 lines and you got eyes, mouth and eyebrows 4) your done.

Tysm for making this!!! It’s soooo useful!!

You make it seem so effortless but it’s easier said than done lol the final product looks just like him it’s so cute lol 🥰😅😂
This was an awesome video! I hope his birthday is the best ever! :D (Also, it's super cool and super weird seeing myself in someone's video, lol. Nice).
Cartoonish art is almost exclusively what I’m good at, & what I’ve learned is: simple complexities. Best expressed in this video by the mention of Harry’s recognizable hair shape. One of the things that makes cartoon design so appealing is the small, distinctive details in the midst of an otherwise loose & playful style. Simple complexities
Wow, "study your reference" really does sound so much cooler than "copy from a picture". Gonna use 100%
I would also add: eyebrows. They can add a lot to the face. You can look at things like: Angle: are they tipped a certain way? Weight: where are they thicker/thinner? Inner edge? Center of arch? Outer edge? Thickness: how bushy are your brows? Arch: Sharp angle, or maybe just a straight line? Length: how far do they span across the face? Position: are they higher or lower on the face? Are they close, or far apart? Fading: is there a sharp line between brow and face, or are there stray hairs that make them "blend" a bit? I'm of course overcomplicating a bit, cartoons aren't supposed to be exact. But, if you find yourself unable to _quite_ figure out what's wrong, perhaps some of these could help you out.

I can't explain the feeling, and the wierd connection we have, but they're REALLY IMPORTANT to me, and I want to honor them.
