    True but when your putting your all into the game and the ref makes a blatantly bad call and then sticks to it seemingly to save face that can stay with a player, not saying I disagree with your view just that it’s understandable for Murray to have trouble letting something like that go.

  • @marciostavares
    @marciostavares2 жыл бұрын

    It seems to me the main problem of this discussion is the fact that the umpire is not a native english speaker (which I'm not either). The term "over the net", in this context, to the umpire, appears to mean "above the net", "on top of the net" (vertically), something like that, while to native speakers like Andy it can mean "beyond the net" (horizontally), in the sense that the other player is invading the other side of the court. That's why, I think, Murray reacted like this when the umpire said: "over the net, not the other side" (3:42). The narrator says, imediatelly after this: "over the net IS the other side of the net". It's not that clear to most non native english speakers. Well, maybe the umpire is "acting" like this after seeing the replay and becoming aware of his mistake, but I will not speculate about that.

    During the start of the 6th game Murray on duty, the first point was awarded to Djokovic when he made a mistake by pushing the ball before crossing the net. So the Argentinian referee made an error in judgment by awarding the point to Djokovic. So if Murray cursed Novak, the fact that he didn't say it *to you* does this mean you will refrain from dishing out the necessary action? This has to be the only match Murray played after his Wimbledon 2013 final win that he was hitting the cleanly. But his ball striking wasn’t solid enough to the point he had full control of the ball. Which is ultimately why Novak won in two sets and would have without the dodgy umpire’s decision. Novak was solid and wasn’t. That was the difference. But some of Murray’s shots do show what potential he had if he fixed his technical flaws. Shame. The shots at 0.42 and 6.00 say it all.

    Djokovics backhand and forehand are much cleaner than Murray’s technically, his technique is flawless and yet simple and effective, so it doesn’t let him down in big moments. Murray’s bh slice and volleys are technically much better, but saying Murray is the better player is wrong. Djokovic has more weapons and firepower and less weaknesses (no short loopy forehand). I agree that there isn’t much to separate them from the baseline just looking at their ability, but saying Murray is the far better tennis player when one has 20 slams and the other three is just foolish…

    Djokovic is the most conceding player on the tour when it is fair with tons of examples on youtube. But that was not this case: there is Murray factually lost the point. Clearly ball flew down to the net after Murray's hit and even without Djokovic's touch he would lost the point anyways. So where is nobility by begging the point where you realized that you had played the point worse and send the ball right to the net. Bureaucracy try from Murray and literally hypocrisy from those who thinks that was his point. So Djokovic was better at that point and was better at the entire match by winning in straight sets.
