Dramatic Moment Bolivian Army Storms Presidential Palace
These were the dramatic scenes on Wednesday as the Bolivian army led a coup against the government.
Hundreds of troops and armoured vehicles filled Murillo Square in La Paz…
…and broke through the gates of Bolivia’s government palace.
The recently fired General Commander, Juan José Zúñiga, led a group of soldiers into the presidential palace…
…where he said the army was trying to “restore democracy and free our political prisoners”.
President Luis Arce confronted the general, saying: “I am your captain, and I order you to withdraw your soldiers.”
