Drain Pond & Fix Bluegill Beds

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I drained my 1/2 acre pond. We netted out as many fish as we could. I improved the bluegill bedding areas and added some structure to the pond.

Suggestion: turn every other concrete block from vertices to horizontal and that will really improve habitat

I've heard that using concrete blocks will mess with the pH level, especially of smaller ponds.

Interesting fish count. I think you need half a dozen Georgia-Cubes. Having an aerator in the center of a Georgia-cube would flush up small things for the small-fish to eat. The plastic would also produce long-term habitat for the fish to repeatedly use for generations where the branchy-wood gets less safe every year it rots.

the cattails are good cover for young of the year bluegill and bass xperts say you need 15 to 20 percent of your body of water with habitat. shallow/ middepth and deep structure for bass and bluegill to move up and down in the water colum. lm doing the same in my pond.

Yes! You need permanent Fish STRUCTURES! Along with your beds. I am a fan of PVC piping, black sprinkler lines with concrete. Cinder block pyramids would be great too and last for YEARS! Research fish habitants and do this while you can. You have almost a blank canvas!

Purina aquamax 500 or 600. My pond produces poundage that larger lakes do because it is managed.
