    If your talking about Jason Becker he is still alive as far as I know. He was definitely one of the best all timers, has ALS and can no longer talk, play or even breath on his own. Herman Lee does Twitch streams to raise money for Jason's medical bills. They are currently auctioning some of Jason's guitars and taking donations to help.

    It was actually done with the floyd rose tremolo bar. He unscrewed it from the guitar and ran it across the strings muted. It makes the notes more defined and clean than a pick would. I would assume that he does it with a pick live because it would be impossible to unscrew it during the solo.

  • @mitchhaelann9215
    @mitchhaelann92153 жыл бұрын

    That lifting-trick was him using the 'whammy bar'. It's s special thing some electric guitars have that changes the tension on the strings, changing the entire sound the guitar makes on the fly. A skilled electric guitarist can make his instrument sound like four or five different instruments. Herman Li got the strings going to make the notes, then changed the notes without touching the strings by playing with the Whammy. Dude is definitely a master at his craft.

    When he lifts the guitar at the begining, he uses the strum handle (pretty sure it's not called that), and it's basically the vebrato on an electric guitar. It's basically the same as those little half wheels on piano keyboards you can move up and down. It's purpose is so that you can get some widdley-wee by only holding one note.

    To explain "how he do that?" when it comes to the noises at 1:52 and 4:40 Both Herman Li and Sam Totman have guitars equipped with something called a "Floyd Rose bridge." Without getting too tecnical, this bridge can pivot forward and backwards through use of an arm (you can see the thin piece of metal in Herman's hand during the 1:52 trick, you can also see Sam's pointing backwards at 1:49) and change the pitch of the notes being played. In fact, your "Air Guitar" has the same type of bridge system, it's the large black shape with a bent line coming off it furthist away from where you put your left hand (the neck). Heck, your air guitar seems to be designed to look like an Ibanez brand, the same brand Herman's using in the video.

    Once you're a hip hop head and metal head and realize the talent that it takes to make great music in both worlds the more you realize that mainstream radio and the music industry has an agenda behind it and that that music is DOGSHIT! Metal and REAL hip hop take massive skill, creativity and musicianship and it is all from the heart not some ghostwriters or cookie cutter formula. One in the same, different ends of the spectrum. Also, that pacman sound did come from the guitar!!! He scraped the strings lightly with his guitar pick.

    Saw them in concert once. One of the best parts was when the keyboard player busted out a keytar and did a music 'battle' with one of the guitar players to give the rest of the band a break.

    Welcome to Speed Metal! Some put this as Power Metal, too. This is a great song, but overplayed. They have so many good songs, too: "Black Fire", "Prepare for War", "Fields of Despair", "Heart of the Dragon", "Starfire", "Fury of the Storm", "Soldiers of the Wasteland", "My Spirit Will Go On", "Once in a Lifetime", "Heart of the Storm", etc. As for the guy holding the guitar up, while making that sound, it was a whammy bar. XD

    Bro these guys have been out for well over a decade. The guy singing left the band though but back In like 2006 this was the hardest song to play in guitar hero 3 and at the end of the day they both won and the fan won. That was some badass shit. Nothing like badass music making you love music again

    I'm reminded of the Guitar Mag interview with the guitarist from Psyopus. "Well... so I was sending demos of me playing all around and eventually I got a call back and the lady on the phone said that the boss wanted to see a video because he thought the audio was sped up. So I sent them a video and she called back to say "He was very impressed, but sadly we can't sponsor you if you're going to shake our guitars over your head while holding them by the whammy bar." So that relationship didn't really pan out, but I do get discounts from them now."
