    Too much tension on the bar...first contact at 2:46 , should have stopped after 2 twists at 2:47 , or better, do not use that at all because the needle wont move around anyways because it's cartridge. Another optional thing is to take out the "stay-up spring". I use dragonfly copies and they could run a 9mag standard needles at 4v. Lining at 5 to 6 volts. Just use the minimum "necessary" tension on the bar. After first contact, twist a little bit more, run the machine, look at the needles. The moment the needles are riding the bottom of the tube in a straight line, there's no more need for additional tension.

    I got one after hearing all the hype about it and after alot of preventive maintenance it's basically noiseless, runs under 7 volts pushing up a 15 magnum and it's still running fine after 8 months of hard use. I will say, atleast with mine that "adjustment knob" on the (artists) front doesn't do anything unlike the genuine version. I did a couple videos on it on my account on this

    The "give" or "hit" people describe is simply the adjustment of the stroke length not the needle depth. You can also quite down rotary machines by putting a small amount of oil on the bearing. I never run rotary machines over 7 volts and I can assure you if you run a 20$ machine on 8 volts you'll smoke the junk motor within hours of running it

    I have just bought a rotary machine from atomus. It seems to be very quiet some adjustments are needed as to tighten the armature bars hit on 2.5 volts my kicks on and at 8 volts its flies and once I let off the pedal it still moves like that of a tuned coil machine which is what you would want or expect. In the long run do try and get parts for the dragonfly machine and interchange the parts they are to spec I myself am going metal parts so it's all fit tight and snug to run over 3 hours . It does in fact heat up faster than a coil machine so a new set of wires may help that or just a better quality motor for the shell/box

    the reason it wont start at a lower voltage is because the tension of the cartridge. if you use a standard needle and tube it would run at a lower voltage. I know because I have one that's similar. I use the pen now but I switched to cartridges myself for the same reason you did.

    I have a replica of this one. Im tired of adjusting it from lower to harder so i remove the spring inside that place so its hit always hard as i wanted to be for lining and color packing. Nothings wrong with this machine i almost like it. It just u have to study and know its weakness and pros

  • @will35151

    The original dragonfly tell you to remove the spring so you don't stress out the motor and the cartridge membrane or rubber band will act as a spring

    Outrora em Outono stay up spring. Spring that make the needle always stay up when the machine not running it only need when using standard needle not cartridge. When u using a cartridge stay up spring must be removed and dont using the needle bar retainer.

    I know this is an old video but if nobody’s told you or you haven’t figured it out, you’re tighten up your tensioner too much it’s supposed to barely touch the bar to hold it in place

  • @tjgregg6477
    @tjgregg64775 жыл бұрын

    From observation I think the reason it won't start lower for you is because your tightening the needle can down too tight

    @silentlywaiting1120

    That's one problem! Second problem is no apprenticeship on how to correctly tattoo someone and using different machines. Not knowing how to tune,run,build,or operate. You also don't tell people you're just learning and try to throw off your veiw and info on machines that you have no clue of how to correctly operate! I've tattooed for 20+ yrs, paid $3,000 to be apprenticed. And I can say that if you know your stuff ANY tattoo maxhine can be operated and used with lill to no problems unless it's just junk. Just do some research before operating different machines.

    The fact you’re running the cartridges is why is bogs down. You need a jump start feature on your power supply and def recommend replacing the springs so you can actually run cartridges needles. Knowing this video is older, the machine probably already pooped out by now if you havent done that

    I've had that almost exact (clip cord only) knock off for the entire six years I've been inking and they are actually great for the small pieces walk ins tend towards like smaller flash, lining and script.. Pop that tensioner off and use a small black rubber band and keep the give wide open..

    Ok 1- don’t bother with a knock off.. if anything get a hummingbird gen 2 with a Swiss motor and the same adjustable options- better built and not mad expensive to start... 2, that needle bar is way way too hard on the needle, nothing to do with a clip cord (I run my machines at 4v max).. 3- don’t be trying to teach people when you still don’t know yourself, setting them up to fail.. good quality products produce a better tattoo and less trauma to the skin with no risk of breaking down in the middle of your practice.. don’t skimp if you are serious about tattoos as a medium
