Dragonflight Wrapping Up - What Worked, and What Didn't Work

Ойындар

Dragonflight came with an important mission of regaining the trust of the player base and delivering big promises of change. And now that the main story and seasons of the expansion are basically done, what do you think of the expansion as a whole?

I really enjoy dragonflight even to a half-hardcore player, gearing UP was so easy and with the calendar, feel like we always have something to do through the expansion.

For a relatively small content creator, I actually ended up liking the video more than I expected. I share the same thoughts. Main storyline was utterly bland, but the sidequests were a treat. Idk why a lot of people in the community hated the centaurs in Ohnaran Plains other than diluting the Kalimdor centaur lore, because I really liked the culture as a whole, and we got good boy Taivan too. Overall, DF wasn't really aesthetically or conceptually as interesting as it could have been, but gameplay was a genuine improvement that I hope Blizzard would continue working on and not think they can slack off now after getting some praises. That was exactly what happened to BfA and SL, they took Legion's success the wrong way and ran with it for 4 gruesome years.

its true some parts in the main story were pointless, but as you said, in the end the expansion turned out the be good and sets a good direction for the future exmapions

I think the whole story didn't lead us really anywhere excepting Iridikron working with Xal'atath

I thoroughly enjoyed DF, it gave me a vibe almost reminiscent of MoP however, I still feel like they could have chosen to lean harder into either the idea of us exploring a new strange land with it's own problems and such or for us to have been actively stopping a major threat, it felt like there was a split in the choices that really made the story feel... disconnected? I still loved this expansion and it was one of the first time in years where I just enjoyed getting on WoW to play one of my favorite video games.

Yeah I agree. I think it was the "chill" vibes the game needed after a Legion Invasion, A World War and literally Hell and Death lands.

Dragonflight has been great but the story team realllllly needs to step it up - my primary complaint about DF is its story whereas almost everything else was great. I loved the constant patch content but there was both a real lack of cohesion between the stories and most of the main stories themselves felt unfinished. 10.1.5 brought a very underwhelming conclusion to Nozdormu's story which is so disappointing because it had the potential to be the best story in the xpac - I legit thought Nozdormu was going to be the endboss of this xpac early one. There were more infinite dragons in WotLK than there were in DF - no! Also the red dragon storylines seem to have just been cut completely or never envisioned, which is just sad. The best story in the xpac was the blue dragonflight story and that was entirely optional!

the new crafting system and world crests are the saddest case of 2 devs wasting people's time for "engagement" metrics. nobody likes flying back and forth from the ah to tip a bot . man i bet the 1 gender neutral dev is so happy about the increase in crafting activity its so engaging and well implemented
