I was also in awe the first time I heard it parrying a whole barrage of meteors!

The dullahan is incredible. It’s rare but it shows up like an invader in some places. First your lamp goes out and the wind picks up, a few seconds later it jumps you. Always a good time.

@@user-go6gs8ui1q Or in my case, all my pawns decided to jump off a cliff, soon later before I got to a riftstone, Dullahan shows up. Try to run away because I'm a sorcerer and can't get a single cast off without the Dullahan interrupting. Dullahan teleports constantly, so you can't actually run away. Riftstones disabled while in combat, can't toss a ferrystone while in combat. They seem pretty magic resistant, so I can't do much damage even when I get a spell off. Eventually Dullahan kills me (first time dying in unmoored world) and I get sent back 5 hours. Need to do every beacon again, and evacuate three towns/cities again.

Dude actually scared tf out of me teleporting on top of me out of nowhere and instantly knocking my character out lmao

Dullahand is the only boss that has made me struggle and cry like a little baby ever since i fought it with Sir Gregor,i can never beat it without getting humilliated,not even Drakes are this hard for me,even in that one first fight i ended up with like 90% loss gauge, dazzled,bleeding out crawling on the floor as i watched my pawns and the knights finish it off. It was a massacre.

By far the best enemy in DD2. Love fighting them as a fighter where you HAVE to manage stamina and parry to survive.

@@reddragon2943 Or just "NOPE!" them with Mystic Spearhand's shield/barrier that protects the entire party. IMO, Mystic Spearhand is the Dullahan's perfect counter once you have access to Wild Furie, as that just *_SHREDS_* the Dullahan in no time. Especially if you have a Mage that used Celestial Paean for the damage resistance and nearly infinite Stamina regen. I literally killed the scripted Dullahan (that's supposed to run away at half health) in the Till Death Do Us Part quest with Mystic Spearhand before it ever got a chance to run away.

@@MissBeloved__ Yep, once that Dullahan hits half health it's supposed to run away, but if you can keep it staggered and blitz it's health down really quickly you can kill it before it can escape. The same goes for the Lesser Dragon that attacks Melve, it's supposed to run away, but it's 100% possible to kill it before it is able to do so.

Fighting it as a Thief with Formless Feint is honestly life's greatest joy though. You feel like an actual god locked in a duel with another god. He parries half your shit, you dodge all his shit, and you both teleport all over the place. It feels ridiculously cinematic. Fighter is my second favorite class to fight them on because you basically turn the game into Sekiro with the clings and clangs of constant parrying from both sides.

This is the best new enemy they introduced. Just so cool visually, cool fight and he's an absolute bastard and a menace.

I think the Dullahan is some of the best enemy design in gaming

Found a campfire at night and decided to rest and build a camp after a long hard day. As I come near the campfire, the options didn't appear to make camp. Then a boss health bar appeared at the top of my screen and this song started playing as the headless dullahan comes approaching from behind. I had goosebumps when I first encountered it.

@@orochimaruthesannin9107 after 100+ hrs in game I have never won a fight with him... he always shows up near the sunrise and vanishes with like 1/4 of the last health bar left 😭 I thought he spawns at predefined locations, tried to hunt him when night just began, but to no avail...

My first Dullahan encounter was close to the ancient battlegrounds. I was a lvl 17 warrior, supported by an archer, thief and mage. I never saw the area before, so I assumed the fog was normal. I was mistaken. He snuffed out our lanterns and assaulted the party. I was the only one who could take a hit from him and live and oh boy did tidal wrath pull me through that one. He seems to have a preference for softer targets, for he teleported behind me and absolutely slaughtered the archer and mage. Only to then parry the flurry of blows coming in from the thief. We only managed to deplete one of his healthbars up to this point, dawn saved our hides. Very cinematic experience. I later aided Ser Gregor in taking one down, I loved every moment of the rematch.

Fought a Dullahan and a Drake flew in to join. Got double-teamed so hard and somehow lost my pants in the process. Still have trouble walking

I love the dullahan scream the most, reminds me of the banshee from ddda. Bring back Banshees!

@@babyjiren9676 It's very likely that they will, though they should turn the Banshee into an incorporeal undead that's immune to physical damage but very vulnerable to magic (particularly Holy element magic), as the Banshee is supposed to be a type of Ghost rather than a zombie variant. There's already a bow that directly references the Hydra, meaning that thing will likely be returning sooner or later (likely with the Arch Hydra also returning as the stronger variant of the base Hydra), and there's another piece of gear that references a Lindwurm, which will likely be a new DLC monster whenever DD2 gets a DLC or Update that adds new stuff.

The first time I fought this I said "What the hell, a headless horseman?!" And The Headless Horseman is a type of Dullahan

I love the vibes this song gives so much Especially as it ramps up the further along it goes, it feel like you're in a deadly dance of death with something no mortal should arguably be fighting

Realized my pawn had dragon's plague and was going to give them a bath but alas...met the dullahan for the first time on a bridge he gave EVERYONE a bath.

I'm jealous of all everybody's cryptid encounters with this guy. I somehow went an entire 90-odd hour playthrough without seeing one (partly because I met Gregor's wife Margit but not the guy who actually gives you the quest) until I fought EXACTLY one in the the unmoored world, and then just recently failed the quest in NG+. It's difficult to tell what happened, but I think the dullahan may have thrown Gregor into the water... I guess I don't travel at night much, but it's not like I beeline for a campsite every sunset. Where are all the headless horseless horsemen? I need my rematch now that I'm playing something that can draw aggro.

Actually it's a very fun enemy, because he is the only one besides chaos dragons that you actually can fight instead of oneshotting him instantly and listen almost the whole OST in game)

Walking in Vermund late at night. The Night becomes eerily dark. Your lantern goes out. You relight your lantern, it illuminates nothing. Eerie blue light, wild dullahan appears

Literally 95% of the game when facing this enemy I had to run for my f***ing life waiting for dawn, doing whatever I could, just trying to survive. The first time I defeated him it felt INCREDIBLE. Being able to stand up to an enemy that was my nightmare for the majority of the game was so exhilarating!

If you want to feel like a total absolute badass, try soloing one of these as a fighter. You'll probably die, a lot, but my god does it feel good to hit a perfect series of deflects against its combos.

Dullahan = Living Armor on very high steroids

First time I encountered one of these was just incredible. I was fairly low level and on my way back to Vernworth from the elven Arbor, walking through a narrow passage between two rocky walls. Suddenly, a dense mist rises, I hear this loud ass scream in the distance and my lantern goes out. No idea what I'm in for, I keep walking, rounding the next corner only to see the Dullahan doing its force choke move on some poor bandit. It slashes the bandit to the ground, slowly turns to my party as if to stare at us, and suddenly teleports right into the middle of us, performing a spinning slash that knocked down two of my pawns instantly. A long battle ensued, completely draining the party of all our curatives and bringing us all to the brink of death. We'd barely gotten it down to half health before the sun rose and the Dullahan disappeared into the rocky walls, leaving only whispy trails of ghostly light in its wake. A while after that encounter, I got the quest to save ser Gregor. My headcanon is that it was the same Dullahan, and my Arisen came not only to save ser Gregor, but to enact vengeance on the creature that nearly killed the entire party.

One of the few enemies who are actually difficult

@@northernsoul0127 Nah, not all drakes are equal. The ones in eastern Vermund are doable at level 20-25 already. But the ones in the Battleground or in Battahl are a lot stronger with their meteor spells.

@@TheStraightestWhitest there are 2 different dragon type monsters... there are drakes and "lesser dragons" i believe lesser dragons are the ones that can cast meteoron

My favorite new track I think at high intensity i feel like im at the ends of the earth fighting for the last shred of light on the planet

I was on my way to Volcanic Island and it was getting darker, I get to some bandit camp and took my time there killing them and exploring the place. After I was done it was already dawn, I had no heals left and had lost a pawn. As I make my way up the hill again I feel a thick dark shrouding fog as my lantern suddenly go out, and in the distance a dim blueish light appeared but I couldn't make out of what it was and out of heals I decided to back away and return to Battahl. As I turn back I immediately get face to face with a tall figure holding his head on his hands as he approach me doing a horrifying howling. Suddenly a memory occurred to me of a tale in Vermund saying something about a powerful headless knight that prowls the night and hunt the unfortunate. The Dullahan! Thankfully we were able to escape the monster and see another day. 10/10 experience Dullahan is my absolute favorite monster.

Never really got to hear this because my party is 3 Sorcerers 1 Mage. Dullahan got smacked with 3 Augural Flares within the first second, followed by a barrage of High Levin and one High Empyrean.... and the music was drowned out by the sound of explosions. Then it was dead.

The most impressive thing I saw a Dullahan did was when he parry one of the meteor from the meteoron spell.

Easily best track in the game, this what Dragons Dogma 2 needs more of.

While fighting him, one of my pawns casted high hagol, then I watched him parry a blizzard. speechless

The dullahan freaks me out so much for some reason, I’m always scared to get close to it when fighting it 😂😩

I've literally have killed 20 of these in the post game. A ridiculous high amount. They awards a ton of experience with the Medusa bow

The build up to a Dullahan appearing is just awesome every time. The mist rolls in, the wind howls through the trees and grass, and then that jumpscare. First time one appeared on me it stunned us all, then immediately did his darth vader-style force choke on my mage pawn, instantly downing them. I just ran for the hills.

@thegamesforreal1673 Almost similar experience. Going over a bridge seeing it in the distance for just a second before it teleported. A short moment of nothing, so I try to cross the bridge only for it to pop up right in front of me, stun half the party and force choke/throw me off the bridge. Missing the water and dying from the fall damage. It was awsome.

Whatever we get in the future in the game, I hope it contains a boss fight where we have to fight two dullahans of some higher tier. Love fighting these.

This guy terrified me. I only won because i kept loading explosive arrows and aiming at his head other than that i don't know how else to beat him

The song and the scream…. That haunting scream….. This thing is terrifying when you get to fight it outside of the quest in pre-unmoored world.

Nah, some tracks are better than others of course, but generally speaking the ost in DD2 is so bland and generic compared to DD1. It does its job and works as a competent BGM but doesn't stand out in any way at all. Not a single track is memorable.

@@babyjiren9676 Agreed, and the main reason for it imo is the lack of a leitmotif that would unify everything together. It is especially noticeable after DD1 used it better than a lot of other video game OSTs, having the Eternal Return leitmotif present in pretty much every single part of the OST. It would probably be faster to list the tracks that didn't include it.

Other than this and Reversal of Fate i feel like DD1 is leagues better than DD2. I bought the Deluxe and after some 30 hours with DD2 OST i turned on the option for DD1s and never looked back.

What a powerful song! Shame you can't really experience it in game like you can here.

The first time I fought Dullahan, he absolutely destroyed me. Reloading the game despawned him. At level 60, I was a sorcerer and I ran into Dullahan in some ruined settlement and I thought "Alright! I cast meteoron and melt him!" Meteoron fizzles consistently. I am guessing it is because of the mist he conjurers up. I was reduced to casting Augural Flare and Levin on a monster with no head.

I took this thing on as a t3 archer or something - was the worst decision ive made so far 😂

I can hear him scream 😂.

Jack Sparrow arisen taking on the Dullahan would made this fight just as similar to Jack v Davy.

Theres a side quest with a Dullahand as the boss,its how i fought my first,iirc you have to talk to a woman in the noble quarter and she says her husband has been sent to kill it and to come back later,then you hear from a different npc that some lord is sending husbands in to suicide mission to bang their wives,you put 2 and 2 together go talk to the wife again and shell ask you to go help him,you go to the location and fight the Dullahand with his husband (Sir Gregor i think) his knights and your squad,im pretty sure thats the intended way to fight it for the first time since its tied to a side quest,but some people have fought it without doing it. You can also get to the first Sphinx shrine after beating it since the 2 areas are very close (and Gregor goes back to vermund by himself,you dont have to scort him) killing 2 birds with 1 stone,just make sure to bring a port crystal,just in case.

DD2 soundtrack is excellent, but I prefer the DD1 one which is like Japanese anime soundtrack in the style of Goblin hunter. It's completely badass in DD1 to have heavy metal play in these battles.

Dd2 has a better ost Fite me
