To people confused about their grief. The passing of someone like Toriyama is a unique kind of grief. 99% of us never met him and yet he changed our lives. I’ve already seen people saying don’t be sad Dragon ball will keep going. But it’s not the franchise itself that changes our lives it’s the vision of this one man. It will be hard for anyone outside the fandom to understand what it’s like but don’t be afraid to grieve, don’t think you shouldn’t because you didn’t know him. Dragon ball helped me have so many experiences and meet people and have hype community reactions but it was also there in moments with just me. Those are the moments coming to mind right now, quiet moments alone with this series. For me is was watching Goku go super Saiyan 3 before all my sport matches to hype me up. And it was playing kakarot after a bad breakup, small moments that no one will know about that’s what’s hitting me the hardest. This kind of grief also gives us a community to help each other out through this process, if you’re a new or old dragon ball fan we are all feeling the same thing and we can all be there for each other through this

Thank you for this, brother. I know it's cheesy to say, but I feel like crying because DBZ is very close to my heart. I pray all the sagas continue without ever dying. This can't be the end of an era. I'm trying to be hopeful. But your words resonate with me. Again, thanks so much.

I mean the man literally popularised anime and gave it the reach to the west, mostly known for (dragonball) his adaptation of journey to the west... However it's no doubt that he's a Legend in his field, he reached so many, inspired literally generations of artists/authors. He was a genuine creative talent, a truly unique soul and mind. RIP Toriyama. (also to the guy in the comments who said "Toriyama created mid content and died too late") you're sick, get some help.

I am 54 and Dragon Ball has been in my life for 40 years. When I got the news I almost fell to my knees. I could only go 'no no no no'. I was just about to make the first break of the day and the reward was to sit and watch Dragon Ball while having a coffee. I just cannot cope with the pain and sadness. So much joy and inspiration and company. Reading the manga, watching the anime, playing the games, the toys, the posters, the pictures, the tshirts, the the the. Daily Dragon Ball in any form has been my life always. I really feel a massive loss. As if losing a loved one which is the truth. I have lost someone that has been a part of my life. Yes the art remains, forever. But why so soon, why this year. The year to celebrate the 40th anniversary. And we lose him on Saiyan month, on day 1 of Saiyan month.

It was 2010 back when I was 4 years old, my mom was running late for work and put a random cartoon on tv, she told me to sit still for a few hours till she returned, I then saw super saiyan goku holding his chest because of the heart virus, and that caught my eye. Ever since then I fell in love with the series.

never had the opportunity to watch Dragonball Z as a teen. I came from a pretty poor background lol.... But, I did know about it. Fast Forward to about 20ish years... I have had a few life events that pretty much broke me as an Adult... One of my son's passed away in 2017 at the age of 5... In 2023 went through a horrible divorce that was traumatic... My 14 year old recommended that I watch Anime as a means of therapy... I started to watch this show and I have watched the entire show from Dragonball to Dragonball Super.. I cannot put into words how this show affected me in such a positive way.. This show in so many ways saved me. It taught me to push through all my limits and it put my ass back in the Gym. Watching this show was a spiritual journey for me... Vegeta's words throughout the whole saga live in my head about Saiyan Pride and not being weak and pushing through my limits in my own way.. I truly appreciate Akira Toriyama. Rest in peace king..

I'm 38. Been OBSESSED with DB my whole life since I was introduced. Teaches many life lessons. Mercy, friendship, the importance of good in the world, forgiveness, facing your fears, and destroying personal limits. Akira Toriyama Sensei.... you got me thru a rough childhood, and are currently helping me still with adulthood. When the news broke, I actually cried. Felt like a chapter of my life was over. You got my thru most of my life as it is now. Helping me forget about work, money, life. Just sit down with a beer and some munchies, smoke one, and watch any DB, to forget for just a bit. Myself like many fans out there are mourning in there own way. I feel like I lost a best friend... one I've never met in person or spoke to, they say "not all heros wear capes" fine example right here. Met many friendly and happy people in public wearing my DB shirts. "OH HEY THATS GOKU UNTRA INSTINCT." Or when I wear my Vegeta shirt "yo that shirt if fire man. Vegeta all the way" people i know nothing about and have never met."what's your favorite ark?" It brings us together. No hate. Just love for your stories, characters. You're practically immortal now lol. Someone says "Akira Toriyama" and now people are hearing the name. Even heard someone at my work say "goku's creator died..... now what?" May you rest in peace Sensei. You will be terribly missed ❤

Of growing…..becoming better and breaking through your limits. I am forever grateful for Akira Toriyama. A lot of us are hurting from this but we’re in this together. RIP

Holy shit man you broke me from start to finish thank you so much Mastar, I am crying so hard right now its a mixture of both happy and sad tears. He made me a better human being in life and aligned me with my best friends Tarrik " Tazoku " I wouldnt trade anything ever...I remember I was 14 when Chrono Trigger came out and was so excited for Toriyama's art and chrono trigger was no let down. So not to carry on forever last night me and my best fiend talked for hours and it was nice as you get older things do get harder but near the end of our convo and throughout we spoke about Toriyama and how it lingers in us...we expressed some fun and who our favorites were he knows mine and I know his but he said to me " Bro I love Goku " I said I do also because Goku is the Epitome of what a great person is both Human and Saiyain we all strive to be Goku or at least should. Thank you so much for this beautiful dedication.
