Trespasser, the final DLC for Inquisition. An epilogue. Trespasser tells an entirely new story, set two years after the main game. The story explores what it's like to be a world-saving organization when the world no longer needs saving. It's a chance to meet and talk with old friends, to uncover a new threat, and ultimately decide the fate of the Inquisition you worked so hard to build. It might just contain hints about the future of Thedas, too.

    Solas: Well, the Evanuris are about to destroy the world. I will stop them by setting up the Veil. Solas: Oh shit, that destroyed the world. I will fix this by giving my orb to Corypheus. Solas: Oh shit, Corypheus survived and is about to destroy the world. I will fix this by setting up the Inquisition. *Inquisition fixes things.* Solas: Okay. Now time to fix things. Inquisitor: How? Solas: By destroying the world.

    I wish the game wouldn't let us choose our name. If only the default names were, for example, ellana for lavellan, or maxwell for travelyan. It would be better to be called by name instead of Inquisitor, or if they used Inquisitor as a title. For example Inquisitor Lavellan or Inquisitor Ellana .. I bet it would be much better than Inquisitor. Because you can't call a king ''king''. Call it King Alistair. so, Inquisitor Ellana or Maxwell is much better thank''inquisitor'' and If this were the case, our friends could also call us with their friendly nicknames because they were closer to us than the soldiers. For example, Ellanaly - Cully or Ella, or "Max" and so on. Who cares about a name never mentioned? What was the need to choose a name? I wish they wouldn't let us choose names. I wish each character had his own name.

And with solas specifically, it makes alot of sense and does nothing but add to his character as he obviously loves his people (elves) and seems attracted to women, so it makes sense for him to only be interested in the things that he cares and/or is interested, that being elves and women, so, elven women. if they made him open to anything, it would completely contradict his whole view on the world, and so would make him seem less like a person who has views and opinions.

    +Grand Priest I'd disagree with that. Anders wanted to force everyone else to react by committing an act of terrorism (or a temper tantrum by someone who's lost his mind, or some third interpretation: your mileage may vary). The contrast lies in that Solas didn't start a war and then run off to hide once he'd managed to get the bloodshed started. S also began a war but led his side in person, including facing his real enemies (the wannabe gods) head on. To further hammer in why I disagreed: S defeated them by his own actions, rather than assuming that as long as other people are fighting each other to the death, his goal would be reached eventually. [for the record, I'm not a drooling Solas fanboy. If flame wars are desired, I advocate roasting me for my obvious political biases instead]

    Hurmeri Right ... So Solas isn't forcing people to try and survive, seeing as his goal is to pretty much destroy the world to "save" *his* people? Anders went to extreme measures to force changes so that "his" people would be "saved". While doing these extreme measures, he manipulated others and did not let anyone in on his plan, not even his possible lover. Solas is going down the same path, rather you want to believe it or not. The only difference is that Anders had enacted and succeeded in what he wanted to do. Solas has not enacted his plan yet, even going so far as to say he'd give people a few years of peace before all goes to shit. I could go on with the similarities, but by now you either will accept it or you won't.

    I chose to try and change his mind instead of killing him (after sitting in chair for about an hour and 15 minutes staring at the choice screen. Innitially, I was outraged at what Solas said he was going to do, considering all that he'd seen and gone through with me and the inquisition, as if he should know better. Buuut then it ocurred to me that he DID know better...he was a decent elf with a good heart descending into the gates of hell itself (by his decision) all the while with his eyes wide open. In other words, he knew EXACTLY what he was doing. So I sat rationalizing...what makes a good man with a decent heart take it upon himself to willingly play the role of the devil, KNOWING what hes doing is wrong? Simple...a love for his people. (I draw extreme parallels with the movie "John Q' /Denzel Washington here) Hence, he's hellbent, regardless of the cost. And from HIS perspective, it seems the only way to proceed, as if to say "If I have to get blood on my hands and become a monster far greater than Corephus-w/e to effect change to this end...so be it." I can't lie, I respect that, even at so high a cost. At the same time, he makes the statement that he would love to be proven wrong, to be derailed from his current course if there genuinely was an alternative. Given that, through many interactions with Varric during the course of the game, he listened to reason and changed his viewpoints on matters, I figured, why not give him the benefit of the doubt and attempt to reason with him again here, where it was needed the most? I felt that, as the Inquisitor, if Solas COULD be reasoned with, Td regain one of the best friends Id had all throughout Inquisition. And if not? In one form or another, as Im sure he was well aware of, the silhouettes of the inquisitions blades would manifest themselves once again.

    In many ways, it can be said that the primary theme of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Is the Return of the Past to Change and Haunt the Present. Think about it. From the ancient Tevinter Magister: Corphyeus. To Flemeth and the Dread Wolf himself: Solas. In DAI, the saying that, "The past is prologue." Has never been more true. We even get to meet true, pureblood ancient elves in the Arbor Wilds! Most of the main movers and shakers in DAI. Are elders of Thedas. Of great renown, from bygone eras...

    Well... shit. I admit this DLC was better than expected, I wish they hadn't made the previous ones and instead expanded this one even more, but oh well... I'll probably make a video with my thoughts but in short I'm pleased and interested! From the moment I first heard the story that the elves lost their immortality because they interacted with humans I knew it was BS :) and it's finally been confirmed. Also I'm surprised by Vivienne's epilogue, it's better than expected! The only drawback was perhaps the music volume going all over the place and the really quick epilogue that I couldn't read initially ;] So I've edited it a bit to be readable

    Even though the Inquisitor isn't going to be the protagonist of DA4, the fact that this DLC gives you the "choice" whether to decide you'd want to redeem Solas or defeat him says that it will likely come up in the next game. They gave the players the meta knowledge of the choice that we might be able to make with the new protagonist. At least that's how I see it. Kinda nice of them to give us the heads-up ahead of time.

  • @thatbloomer5642

    @thatbloomer5642

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@erinlaboricua that's nice and all, but I would've preferred if it doesn't need some sort of meta explanation. The new protagonist did not/would not know what the Inquisitor would've wanted to do. So, roleplaying wise, making a decision as the new character while contemplating the Inquisitor's choice here is ruining the immersion. But, there is a way to alleviate this. Like, involve the Inquisitor more somehow. Maybe allow us the option to play as or dedicate certain sections of the story for the Inquisitor. Like, both options shows that the Inquisitor would take an action to prevent Solas from tearing down the veil, so they're *already* involved.

  • @erinlaboricua

    @erinlaboricua

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@thatbloomer5642 Well, providing the meta knowledge ahead of the next game gives anyone who actively wants to redeem Solas, the ability to create their new OC around that option, based on whatever info we're given. That's totally up to the choice of the individual player, and it can be done and not break immersion for them. I like your Inquisitor idea, but the loss of an arm might be the challenge that prevents that. (I hope it's not the only reason the devs have to not make the Inquisitor the protagonist 🙄) I don't see how the Inquisitor wouldn't be involved at all however, especially with an ex-companion supposedly being the upcoming antagonist.

  • @thatbloomer5642

    @thatbloomer5642

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@erinlaboricua well that's true. But, that means the choice here would be completely meaningless and without consequence if someone were to immersed themselves into the story and the character. I don't know about you but that doesn't seem like a good thing. Also, the Inquisitor could use a prosthetic and Bioware doesn't seem to be against that idea since in the Red Jenny ending, the Inquisitor was shown wearing a crossbow arm. If anything, it would make for a completely new experience, gameplay wise, without reducing the impact the story would've had if the Inquisitor were to deal with the issue directly.

  • @orrthehunter
    @orrthehunter9 жыл бұрын

    I say Disbanding was the better choice since it seems in DA4 going against Solas using the Inquisition he help built would be too risky due to him knowing everything about the Inquisition. Not to mention he already has spies in the Inquisition so he will know all of the Inquisition's actions. Now the Inquisitor must rely on a new group of heroes to Save/stop Solas. Ones that he does not know and can predict their own actions. Thus setting the stage for DA4 Main character and his group of companions. On another topic: Darn Solas can kill people with just his mind. Makes me wonder how the DA4 MC will save/stop solas. As for saving him, ya it seems to be the option I take as my canon since he shows that he want the Inquisitor to prove there is another way and save him. However, for now he see no other options because it was his own action that sparked the events that happened in DA series history. His one action lead to another event and another as he sleeped and tried to find other ways. No matter where he looked he found the dark history of the world leading back to his actions.

  • @orrthehunter

    ***** From this choice it appears more of a choice to face Solas with a Military Organization ( Larger numbers, more resources, and more connections) or a Secret Organization ( complete secrecy, more freedom to move around, and ability to perform more secret operations) Currently Solas's strongest strength is his knowledge over the Inquisition. You'll have greater numbers but Solas will also know the Inquisitor's every move. However, same can be said the other way around being a Secret Organization you'll have less numbers and harder time to track Solas' actions but he won't know the Inquisitor's actions. Think of it like a choice between a Mercenary organization or Secret Agent Organization. Mercenary are louder and will get more notice and their actions are more easily followed but they have greater number and reputation for connections so they value numbers over skills. Secret Agent has less allies and limited connections but they can operate without being noticed and their smaller connection is selected among the most trusted sources so this organization value skill over numbers.

The "Legacy" of the Inquisition Symbol is that of a Stolen Religious Idol from a Faith Andrastism dismisses and mocks constantly (Avvar/Alamarri) AND the sign for execution in the state of Tevinter (Their Arch-Enemies). So lets run down the list of what they represent in history...Mage Oppression and Imprisonment for simply existing, Lyrium Addiction and Abuse of their own Holy Soldiers, The Legalized "Right" to lobotomize a person and force them into servitude, Forced Religious Oppression and Warfare, Murder and Genocide of many groups of peoples for opposing beliefs and thoughts against the church/faith. If they existed in real life they'd be War-Criminals. In truth it's a terrible organization to be named after and represent. I'll disband it every single time because 1. It's logical given the job is done and yeah less resources but far more security in the shadows. 2. It DESERVES to be forgotten and locked away. NOBODY has the right to the power it gives over others through bullshit "divine right".

    Something that I appreciate about Dragon Age is how great they are at setting up the next villain/threat for a game after Origins and how they have improved. DA2 introduced Corypheus as the primary antagonist in DAI. While of course a rather bland villain, having already met and understood his character to some degree in DA2, I felt the impact of his reveal and presence that much more interesting. Now with DAI setting up Solas as the main antagonist in DA4, who happens to actually be a great written character that I love, will make the impact of fighting against him in DA4 that much more harder and intriguing.

    TBH I disagree, the default ending is a respectable ending with the defeat of the main protagonist of the game. Trespasser is not so much an ending, but a prelude to the next story. Starts with the exalted council who seek to restrict the power of the Inquisition, then a plot is uncovered involving the qunari and apparent agents of fen'harel. Then you go around unraveling the qunari plot, which eventually leads you to fen'harel, Solas. Who has been dealing with these qunari, and got the Inquisition involved to stop their plot to give the world some relative peace before he destroys it, the ending of the DLC is a prelude to the next game, showing the remnants of the Inquisition preparing their next move against Solas, which is centered around the Tevinter Imperium.

    Amidst all the rpgs I have played stretching over the past 25 years, never has the conclusion of one left me with such a sense of melancholy despair and uncertainty in an unknowable future. As the inquisitor, in every way you have your back to the wall, from the thankless decisions you must make for an organization that genuinely stood for something better, to the unblanketed misfortunes to be summoned by a companion you knew to be decent. The absence and departure of those allies that stood by your side through the worst of it in no way makes the miserable clouds upon the horizon any less daunting. And yet. . .at the end of the inquisitioning day, I find myself smiling a most wicked smile. The cards are on the table and the dies already been cast. What happens next, as of 2022, is left to the mercy of speculation. Whether or not Solas’s grim vision of restoration comes to pass. . .remains to be seen. For better or worse however, the ground underfoot, limited as it may be, feels solid, an excellent place to make a stand. Heh. . .flip a coin and grin. We’ll see what happens next.

    There’s Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age II and this game - Dragon Age: Inquisition. Each game is its own story with different characters though there’s a select few who appear in all three games, Origins is considered by a majority of the fanbase to be the best in the series so I’d say just start from the beginning. You don’t necessarily have to play the other two to grasp what’s going on in this one but it helps out a lot. There is also a fourth game in development though it won’t be out for a long time, 2022 at the earliest I think.

    Well, I'm not 100% sure disbanding the Inquisition was the choice for the parfect ending (as you wrote in the description) but for what is worth I probably would have done the same (well, probably not with the "ok" dialogue but with the "aggressive/angry" or the "sad" one)

  • @orrthehunter

    +Cavik96 I find disbanding the Inquisition to be the better choice because in DA4 we're going against Solas who knows everything about the Inquisition and has his own spies in the Inquisition. Using something that Solas secretly has some control over in secret and can know every move they make is far too risky. Despite the disbanding of the Inquisition a new group is now formed by the Inquisitor and what remains of his allies to stop Solas one where Solas has no spies nor influence over so he can neither sabotage nor know their moves against him. Along with a new group of Heroes for this new Organization that Solas will have little knowledge over.
