Dragon Age Inquisition - Top 10 Inquisition Perks! Tips and Tricks Guide!

Ойындар

You asked for it. You got it! Top 10 Perks to unlock in Dragon Age Inquisition!
It's important to note that by the time you beat the game, you probably will only have about 12 perk points spent. So within those 12 or so points, it's recommended that you get the most out of them and unlock the most useful perks you can.
Most perks have some prerequisite like unlocking a previous tier, spending a certain number of points in that category first, or doing something in game, before you have access to acquire the perk.
One thing players may be tempted to do, but is a big mistake, is spend points in a category on perks they don't want, so they meet the requirements of points spent to get the perk they do want. Rather than waste points, the better idea is to search far and wide and acquire more agents for the inquisition!
By recruiting agents, they count as a point in the category for whatever their talent is. So for example, you may recruit an agent who joins the Forces of the Inquisition, and that counts as a point in the Forces category! So instead of wasting points, find agents and then once you have enough of them, you can unlock the perk you want!
My Top 10 Inquisition Perks
10. True Grit - Defense against all damage increased by 10%. Forces Category. Requirement = Capture a Keep
9. Deft Hands, Fine Tools - Allows Rogues to unlock Masterwork locks and possibly obtain unique weapons/armor, rare schematics and valuable materials! Secrets Category. Requirement = 4 points spent in Secrets.
8. The Short List - Merchants will now offer valuable Rare items for you to buy. Connections Category. Requirement = 5 points spent in Connections.
7 + 6. Antivan and Imperial Court Tailoring - Each perk unlocks an additional 15 inventory slots. Inquisition Category. Antivan has no requirement. Imperial requires Antivan unlocked.
5 + 4. Advanced and Master Focus - Unlocks higher tier 2 and tier 3 power for Focus abilities. Forces Category. Advanced Focus Requirement = 5 points spent, and Master requires Advanced unlocked.
3. Tempered Glass Flask - Unlocks a 3rd slot for potions, tonics or grenades! Forces Category. Requirement = 5 points spent in Forces.
2. Forward Scouts - Icons will now appear on the maps to show additional points on interest including Quarry and Logging camps. Secrets Category. Requirement = Capture a Keep
1. More Healing Potions - Allows you to carry for more healing potions for a total of 12. Forces Category. Requirement = 3 points spent in Forces.

I definitely like the extra dialogue options, but not a big fan of the extra xp. Personally, I find the game a bit too easy, even on nightmare difficulty. I try and curtail this by NOT advancing in levels too fast, so battles will be more challenging. I could also just skip/ignore a lot of side quests and get the same result, but I tend to be a “completionist” with rpg games. Of course this could be fixed for me if they just made the game a bit harder, or add an extra difficulty level…

I'd say that my top 10 would be 1-4: All 4 knowledge perks, with this you get extra dialog that let you get new agents and extra plot options. Also you get extra experience from every paper you can read, and there are a lot of those in the game. 5: Extra potions (Forces), as Kinetic said, in higher difficulties this is a must to keep happy adventuring 6: Extra flasks slot (Inquisition), carrying an extra set of potions or grenades can really give you and edge in battles when you're overwhelmed by demons. It is a must for battling dragons: Iron Bull/Reaver+ Regen potion+ Element resistance tonic = Dragon Rage*Infinite= Dragon slayer 7-8: Extra focus (Forces) Completely agree with Kinetic, 3rd tier focus abilities are awesome! 9: Deft hands and tools (Secrets) do you really want to walk through a locked door in this game and not be able to find what loot is inside? 10: The short list (Connections), It reveals that secret cool inventory merchants keep hidden. Every time you enter a region the cool item is supposed to change in the better stores. I've used this to unlock the best armor schematics that supposedly the Dog merchant in the Hissing Wastes has, yet I noticed that it always had the same unique armor and no matter how many times I reentered the area it didn't change and I couldn't buy the schematics. Maybe a bug in the PS4 version? Well this is my top 10 perks, I think the main difference is the knowledge perks I use and the extra inventory space I don't. My reason to not use those tailor perks is that if you're a bit picky in the loot you get (focus on the rate and unique equipment and statuettes, jewelry and other valuable for sale only items) and go to the store to sell those items after you return from each region there's no real need for the extra pockets. Hope it helps some of you

Considering that you have 19 perks to choose, if you unlock all those mentioned in the video, plus all the knowledge ones, you still have 5 more perks available. If you have a good amount of agents at each category of course. Inquisition's perks doesn't need agents, right?

I know that my comment is pretty late, but I agree with you - especially on the first 4 points. I didn’t invest into them during my first playthrough, but I DID during my second - and that was a whole new game experience! So many new dialogue options, and not just for chatting, but also for quests. Now every time I start a new playthrough - I get them ASAP.

hopefully you read this - can you please do a guide on the materwork enchants? I loved your recent crafting guide, but it still lacks how to add the critical masterpiece enchant properly. I've read some stuff on reddit that it takes different materials and certain amounts of tries to enchant the +10% if the first one fails. I gave up after 2 hours of wasteing materials and masterwork stuff. Save/Load RNG reroll is disabled as it seems, the % chance is bound to the actual item or something.. Would be amazing, if you could help out with that - I can't figure it out obviously

I agree with most of ur list, but what I always get before any other perk are those 3 perks that reveal special parts in speech (underworld knowledge etc). These are the ones that solve story related issues (For example Sera's mission, or the Imperial court mission). These also open special missions on the map and are extremely useful.

Some perks which I think are very helpful too are the knowledge perks which give you either extra xp when reading codexes or that give you extra dialogue options. Especially useful for the main quest in Orlais with the nobles and the empress. Also trainee herbalist (I think) gives you more herbs when you harvest, which in itself is extremely helpful if you want to upgrade potions/tonics or just replenish them.

.. this would be my list, I messed up my first playthrough aswell :D Underworld Knowledge [Dialogue Forces] Arcane Knowledge [Dialogue Secrets] Nobility Knowledge [Dialogue Connections] History Knowledge [Dialogue Inquisition] [Forces] More Healing Potions Advanced Focus -> Master Focus [Connections] The Rare Stocks -> Exacting Buyers -> Only the Finest -> The Short List optional: [Secrets] Eagle Eyes Deft Hands, Fine Tools [Inquisition] Tempered Glass Flasks Antivan Tailoring -> Imperial Court Tailoring Exclusive Training -- Must have [11 Inq.Points]: 4x Dialogue Options ; Short List for Schematics ; Healing Potions ; additional Focus optional [6 Inq.Points]: additional gimmicks for late-game, nothing mandatory. Leaves you with 3 points you can spend wherever you want - if you really, REALLY lack agents, use them to unlock the high tier perks. Why no +exp%? Overleveling. Waste of points. Why no +%def? 10% isn't worth it and it doesn't work currently. Why no Forward Scouts? Quarry/Lumbering locations can be found on guide-maps, google it :)

Greatly appreciated for ppl uncertain of getting gud perks ,great guide Kinetic . Only shit things are that you *CANNOT* Respec Inquisition perks at all ,there's no black emporium too. BW didn't think this through, did they? sigh...forcing you to choose wisely My guide is - The 3 knowledge perks from your 3 ambassadors +4 max healing pots Deft hands ,Fine tools-extremely good ( get *Leliana's normal -master herbs to reach it*) +5% EXP from enemies +10% resist to DMG Extra slot for potions Advanced and Master Focus +15 item burden x2 The short list (New things for sale in shops) Extra EXP and Influence from monster research +1 skill point Optimal Cutting (For end game rare herbs. A novelty mostly) I only bump up my inventory space to 75 *Lv20 Inquisition is the Max* After these, you are left with 3 spare Inquisition points to spent. *The 3 Cullen schematics are optional - up to you,but i rather not get em and rest of Josephine's perks are not really worth it ,unnecessarily *Eagle-Eyed is not worth it. *Forward scouts is bad too.

At least you can respec skills. You couldn't do that in DA: Origins (Bioware incorporated the idea into Awakening thanks to the game's most popular mod) Plus, companions don't have skills auto-assigned up to your level when you meet them, making any companion other than the three your start with totally useless, which Origins also had.

For me it was important to unlock the first perk in each category, in order to get the extra xp from codex entries. And I didn't bother with the extra inventory perk ... I just made sure I sold off my junk on a regular basis. The few times I reached my max inventory, I just destroyed the trinkets under 'Valuables.'

Mostly agree with the list, I think this video could be super awesome with like an Honorable Mentions part, where you could classify the usefulness of a few other perks that might be playstyle dependent. Things like the dialogue upgrades which do have the downside of steepening the awful XP curve, but have huge roleplay benefits. Or Forward Scouts which I personally believe is the one of the 5 worst perks in the game. You only need a handful of Logging stands and quarries to do everything you can with them, and they are useless after. I never have a problem finding enough. And I'm really surprised there's no mention of the +1 Skill point for your Inquisitor. But nice video from a fellow Dragon age try-hard that knows way too much about the game :)

I've really enjoyed your videos on specializations and this one had some really good points about perks. It seems to me though that this kind of Perk layout is more focused on the combat/gameplay and not so much the dialogue, or RP as some might call it. Would you consider the Dialogue Perks useless (sounds harsh) or just not needed to be able to get everything in the game, such as agents or cool story points?

Great thoughts. For me, inventory capacity isn't as high priority as I can usually just fast travel to go sell my stuff. It's just a matter of convenience. My top perks are Extra healing potions, and the focus perks. Of course, I'll soon be playing with 2 tempests in my party to cruise through Nightmare, so focus is pretty important. Dude, I am hooked on your class builds! I've subbed and watched every Dragon Age video. I don't feel DA:I does a good job of explaining its stats and the value of each stat for each class and I'm left wondering when I craft my armor.. Should I go with the Dex or cunning for my rogue.. how much Dex/cunning do I want to shoot for? Diablo does a better job of this cuz theres a sheet damage that changes with every change to your gear I'd like to make a request. Can you make a stats video with some explanations of stat values and what to aim for (example, try to get 75% Dex and 25% cunning) or whatever.

At least understand the reason for getting Forward Scouts now. Think I'll be skipping it myself though. The only resource places I'd have missed are in the areas I explored before Skyhold. So think I'll just be looking up where they are or manually exploring them with a mount later. Will just find the rest when I explore the rest of the maps. Even if I didn't wanna complete everything I'll know to look in any area that I haven't explored to complete 'em. Also got all of the dialogue/codex first instead. Realize now that the XP isn't needed but enjoyed seeing and utilizing some of the extra dialogue options to get some agents easier and score some extra affection with the companions. Also getting the money perks early so that I can be sure to buy any extra influence to reach the influence level cap and any gear should I happen to be unlucky with drops. Though it can be a bit punishing (on nightmare) to not have combat perks early on I'm just finding myself overleveling for the difficult parts by completing everything.

Yep, I pretty much agree with everything in your top 10. I'd maybe slightly change the list position for a couple of them but wouldn't remove any of them. After these, I'd suggest the one that gives your character an extra skill point and the 3 or 4 'knowledge perks. All the rest are pretty useless. Though the wider search area one has some utility, even though it will make virtually no difference in reality. :)

Atleast three of your choices are just quality of life issues. Additional inventory space can be dealt with far more easily by returning to a merchant and selling excess items on a regular basis. That's two points you can use elsewhere. Likewise, forward scouts isn't as necessary after the first play through if you bothered to actually try and discover the entire map of each area, once you know what resources are on which map (take notes if needed) you can get the logging stands and quarries without needing to use forward scouts. However, there are three perks that are absolute musts if you want to be able to get full access to things (and you should probably use your first three perk points on them) and these are the knowledges (arcane, underworld, and the military one). These perks open up options on judging that can lead to some of your judgements becoming agents (like Aventis if you follow the mage path). They also open up other conversation options that can lead to some interesting twists. I would also say that the perks that affect your buy/sell with merchants is also highly useful (for increasing your money to get more schematics and the like).

Hi KineticGTR first of all, thanks for your videos, they are really helpful! I'm not very experienced on RPG's... But I'm taking the time to learn the ropes of it! I just reached Skyhold, my inquisitor is a DD Rogue (level 12) and i'm about to choose an specialization for him; given your vast experience with the game, what specialization would you recommend for a inexperienced DD Rogue like me? Also, am i only able to choose a specialization for the inquisitor, or do i get to choose one for each of my party members?

At a certain point (probably after unlocking skyhold) you're able to choose a specialization for your inquisitor. Your companions also have specializations but you don't choose the specialization for them. Cassandra is Templar, Vivienne is warmage (OP), Blackwall is Warden (I think) etc.

very good video, these are good ones but also opinion based. i just started playin again with a new playthru and i actually got the first perk in each category first which allows new dialogue options. ther are actually MANY new choices you can make... that is if you are a lore nut and talk to alot of people. I also easily get deft hands as my top. I actually get that one first with just 1 influence point. Even thou it requires to have 3 points in secrets before u can get it, the hinterlands actually has 3 secret agents in that first zone which are easily obtainable. I think they did this on purpose so you can get that perk early. Anyway yea I think u should try out the new expansion the decent if you havn't tried it yet. It's fun, maybe do a video on that, I'd like to see you do some more DA:I vids.

i'm not sure the short list is that interesting: glanced quickly in DAI wiki and it seems the stuff it gives you can be found many times in the game. Josephine's sales on the other hand gives you access to the best armor schematics in hissing plains. And for the scout ability, you can always save the point and look out for the locations on internet. the first perks of each category also gives you extra dialogues and increase the xp for all your codex entries, even the ones you already got i think

Hmm. I passed on The Short List and went for the schematics under forces. Instead of buying gear, I found it much more cost effective to let Leliana's new agents bring gear from their previous employers for the rare schematics, then focused on crafting rather than buying gear straight up. It also saved me from the 5 point in that category requirement, so I had a few extra perks to spend elsewhere, which I put into acquiring knowledge, specifically Sterling Reputation (+10% more money for items sold to vendors under connections, Enhanced studies under secrets for +50% more xp for each foe studied [retroactive], and Nobility Knowledge back under connections for +50% XP for codex entries and opening up dialog options). And of course maxing out the inquisition tree for that extra skill point is a must lol.

A little information on The Short List. It does not open up a static set of items on vendors. They are Random from what I can tell. A pool of items that may show up on that vendor (time based supposedly). Also, not that much better than the Sturdy variants. I was excited to finally unlock it but very disappointed after 2 real time days of not seeing a single Superb Armor Recipe on the vendors. (A hat...yeah...I got a superb hat...)

I'll invest in something more useful." I ended up taking it later and was schocked on how useful it was. I was getting 4-8 extra herbs on rare plants that I usually have to spend time farming. So yah,it's a useful perk with a misleading description.
