The reason bro

The 90's was Japan's decade for cars. I'm 40 and live in New Zealand. The car market was flooded with second hand Japanese sports car between 1995-2005 because our car dealers were allowed to go to Japan and by used cars and sell them tariff free back in New Zealand. We didn't know how lucky we were.

The power to weight plus handling is just something special in the rx7. Rotary loves the top end. 2jz is of course special in its own right

Nope its about the Air....RX7 was behind supra so RX7 has the advantage to reach faster top speed bcs RX7 dont hit any air behind the supra. As you can see the supra catching up again after that when Supra Behind The RX7

@@whit3night752 Nope what? Rx7 loves/rotary motors like the top end its fact. I own one, I know. Its also significantly lighter than the Supra. Obviously the slip stream helped but thats not being debated.

I never said the Rx7 was faster, never mentioned drafting the Supra didn't help. I highlighted the features of the rx7. Its very impressive..

that's the only reason i like drag races: for stock cars comparions, or parts comparions. but usually, i find drag races boring. but comparions are pretty good

Rx7 is just timeless

Stock sypra and rx7 are still fast as hell

This is the greatest rival of all time. Supra with 3.0 litre engine but with a heavy chassis. Meanwhile the RX-7 have 1.3 litre engine but with the 50/50 perfect weight ratio

Its not just the chassis. That engine with the weight of a tanker ship is good if you wanna have a 500hp car but only have 1k for upgrades, and sadly just that. Not just the 500hp, just this kind of path. If someone needs more they can spend their money on better ways. On the other side u have a legend of handling that needs nothing, just to drive it like u havent fucked anything for a looong time.....but just that. I think i would enjoy more that rx :P. That ""spending almost no money for lots of burnt rubber"" sounds almost as fun too though not gonna lie

Both of these cars are fantastic and anyone who owns either is a very lucky person

This isn't drag racing per se, more like oval racing. Love it either way and great cars too!

Such a good race! The Supra should have held onto that draft a little longer, but either way the FD may have still had it. I've owned both and still currently have my Supra. They're both amazing in their own ways.

The two most beautiful cars from Japan. I wouldn't have a clue which to choose.

@@mrqz1019 I had a Turbo 2 that had the same flooding problem. I put a fuel cut switch. I attached the wire to the fuel pump fuse location and change the fuse to a universal fuse connector. I never try sending the injectors to be cleaned. I heard that when this cars sit for more than a year the fuel tank gets rust causing the injectors to get dirty(even with fuel filter).

Jesus that FD to the wall... Literally

The more the Rx7 goes up in price, the less I want one. Love the car to death but common sense says its not that important. Its like the baby boomers with their muscle cars as it is with the cars we grew up with in the 90s. But ill be damn if I'm going to hand you 30-60k because of high demand. You can sit on that fucking car lol ill wait or look else where knowing I can find a better deal & not break the bank.

I had a 93 model. At 55K it threw an apex seal through the exhaust destroying the engine and a turbo. Vacuum hose nightmare. The car was well balanced but maintenance and reliability was a nightmare. They aren’t worth anywhere near what is being asked for them price-wise.

we can't compare supra and rx7. becausr both are use legendary engine. still legendary ever

Supra probably would have won if the driver didn’t drop down a gear on the banking it actually allowed the rx to pull a bigger gap then he realised he was in the wrong gear during the corner

It's all a setup, just like they're lapping.

I call bs on the 400m as the supra was underrated horsepower wise, it was more in the 350hp range. The rx7 was far superior.

I like the RX-7. The Supra and RX-7 are almost close but in handling the RX-7 IS A GOD AMONG JAPANESE HIGH-PERFORMANCE SPORTSCARS. If this is the Spirit R Type A the Supra RZ will be nothing. The heavier but with more power Supra gave it a little more edge.

@@spinnymathingy3149 It really is much more powerful than the rest of the RX-7 but not by a mile away more powerful. Lighter, nimble, handling is more responsive now, with a bit more down force, even if you do not settings the car you can easily drift it and because of its lightness and a bit more power its 0-60, 0-100 and quarter mile improved a lot. It can go head to head against the GTO VR-4, NSX-R, Supra Turbo, Skyline GTR and Impreza WRX STi. The Spirit R Type A is the best RX-7 you can buy but it sucks that Mazda just decided to make every Spirit R as right hand drive and never sold it as a left hand drive. From Type A the most powerful, Type B less powerful but they said it is a 2+2 and Type C the automatic Spirit R ALL ARE FUCKING RIGHT HAND DRIVE!

Precise footwork I suppose. These drivers are pro racing drivers so it's natural for them try to launch with minimal spin.

Most RX-7s are slow at the beginning but fast at the end, actually supra too😁😁😁

No one gonna impress how a stock Supra with "280hp" doing 270km/h? just WOW!

I also like the RX-7 but if you like the Supra then Choose it, choose the Supra Turbo 2002 if you are living in a RHD country but if your country is LHD choose the 1998 US version.

Gran Turismo 1 vibes

Facts that 380ps with proper ratio can bring up RX7 to 300km/h++. However 400ps RX7 can keep up with 600ps Supra and Skyline.. Above 500ps RX7 is in undriveable state … 600ps - 700ps is widowmaker and that was equivalent to 900ps - 1000ps tuned car. Im talking about 2 rotor

Suprastar RZ The Supra had 320 HP and 315 lb ft (Listed in Japan as 276 HP) and weighed 3415 The RX-7 had 255 HP and 217 lb ft and weighted about 2800 lbs

These numbers and the sales numbers show how much the Supra is overrated. People here saying they are "special" and "legendary" when their performance number clearly are not.

The track is similar to test course in GT

I have really predicted that the RX7 would win. Such a beautiful car indeed.

Even tho the supra might be heavy we know Toyota builds tanks and the quality of metals etc are far superior then any mazda..

Um, no. NSX Type R NA2 is faster than the V-Spec II Nür R34. Supra is significantly faster than the Lancers and Imprezas. The Nismo Z-Tune R34 is the fastest in the previous era.

cmiiw but supra driver kinda havin some miscalculate bv dropin down gear at banking, but yeah both are great cars but i prefer supra because rotary engine is kinda hard to maintain and utilize at its best performance especially if u live here in indonesia, i think u all know the curve of the rotary engine on fd and i think u need more tuning to be able to use it properly here since we got all of the traffic and bad road conditions, and who hates supra anyway? we all love it

It is in a straight line. The mazda is lighter making it easier to take the corners. The supra is definitely heavier.
