    @@isyraqzaki9727 These are high school shows. You will find a lot of people in high school have not fully come to terms with their sexuality. Also a lot of high schoolers who have come to terms with being gay are still not mature enough to avoid falling for straight guys. I can relate to both as in high school which was only a year and a half ago for me I still wasn't to terms with my sexuality. Also I still fall for straight guys TO THIS VERY DAY!!!

    @@isyraqzaki9727 At least with heartstopper he fully realizes his sexuality- Nick is bi. As much as I don't want that straight to gay trope, this is often how bisexuals discover their real selves. Have we even gotten into terms with the word "gay". Not all people do, and some people don't identify with it.

    still like that for a lot of young queer people unfortunately, I went to school in a Conservative country (but still in cultural 'West' of the world) and one student who wanted to talk about LGBTQIA+ issues was disciplined and had their parents called in for their 'inappropriate behaviour' 😌🔥

    On of the big differences between the seasons 1-3 to 4-5 is that in season 1-3 there were two main characters fighting for a scholarship. You saw them having plenty of identity issues and sex problems but there was still that bit about actually doing homework. It was so much more enjoyable.

    In highschool, one of the hottest "straight" guys and I hooked up a couple of times. He'd always tease me and lead me on; it wasn't till I was older that I realized it was borderline sexual harassment. I can relate to not wanting to be someone's sex toy for experimenting. It doesn't feel good, because at the end of the day, it's a power dynamic. That being said, this is a show, and teens are still children.

    I'm sorry you went through that, friend. I'm very uncomf with the romanticising of unhealthy dynamics like this that we see in a lot of shows, it's not 'spicy drama,' it's putting people in harms way. I know it's just a show but young people watch and are influenced by these narratives whether they realise it or not. When Skins was big in the UK, I remember plenty of people I went to school with saying they started partying under age BECAUSE of Skins, the romanticisation of the excitement and chaos of the lifestyle drew them in. I knew a few folks who developed EDs or had their existing EDs exacerbated by Skins too.
