Through the decades our community faced many challenges and obstacles. We got beaten down many a times, but damn! we came a long way. And every time we took one step forward, we took it together, because we can’t fight this battle alone. And no one should!
During the horrors of the Covid-19 pandemic a lot of us felt lost, isolated and alone. Helplines
around the world received up to 50% more calls during and after the lockdowns. All these ‘Friends Unknown’ struggling with something or who cannot confide in a friend or in family.
With this video we want to let you know ‘You Are Not Alone’ and be there for those in need of a friend.
If you ever suffered from discrimination, abuse, bullying, if you are struggling with your sexuality or gender, or if you just need an ear, don’t hesitate to reach out or call for help.
Words by Vanessa Van Cartier, your current Miss Continental. A transgender woman who dealt with discrimination, abuse and had to overcome many other obstacles that almost took me down. I am one of the fortunate ones who can rely on the shoulders of accepting friends and family to help me through hard times and keep me sane, get me to conquer my fears and insecurities and help me to become the person I am today. Not many have the support some of us have. And they need it the most.
Share this message so our friends unknown feel the love, feel they belong and know they are not alone.
If you know someone struggling with anything, just let them know you are there for them. Sometimes that is all they need to hear.
I am ever so grateful for everyone involved in this video. Established and Upcoming artists from around the globe united, working together on one project to send a message of hope.
