Dracula | Part 2: The Longer I Live | Animatic

Фильм және анимация

For some reason, I had such a hard time working on this one. I ended up cutting about a third of the frames I originally intended to include, and there's some hardcore lazy backgrounds going on. I'm actually satisfied with the final product though, so that's good :)

    I love how tired your Dracula is, almost like it’s a burden to keep on living. I also adore your design, such as the Jabot shirt, gloves that go over his claws, and the hair. Personally, I would’ve given him facial hair, but that’s just me

  • @emmawiley2452

    Alexander Smith The design fits Dracula perfectly, you’re right! I personally think that no facial hair gives Dracula this “forever young” thing. Like, it says that he can’t die, and can’t age passed the age he looks like, so it makes it surreal that he looks younger than he should be. It could just be a design choice. I wish I could draw humans as good as this. I can’t even get hands right.

    Emma Wiley I can’t get feet right lol. If you want my suggestion as an artist, start off by taking pictures of real life things that are somehow connected to the thing you like, (for me it was Vlad the Impaler, Al Capone, and other infamous people) and over time your brain will start making shortcuts, and things will get easier for you, and before you know it you’ll be able to draw without needing a device as a reference. As for the forever young thing, I agree, but I still think facial hair would be worked into it, like giving him a mustache similar to (again) Vlad the Impaler. I know a lot of people who are young and handsome (no homo) but still have facial hair

    Lyrics: I've seen so many sunsets in my life I should know everything there is worth knowing But since I saw your face, I don't know where I am There's no map that can show me where I'm going The longer I live, the more I wonder If I know anything at all If I've ever been in love, I can't recall The longer I live, the less I'm certain That I have all the answers right I'd give all my yesterdays for one more night It's hard to make each moment count when you're alone Maybe, that's all I need to know The longer I live without you near me The longer the empty years will be The world will not turn until you turn to me My world will not turn until you turn to me...

    @EmilyTheVirgo Hmm interesting. This concept was used for the series with Jonathan Rhys Mayers.

  • @katerinaaqu

    @katerinaaqu

    4 жыл бұрын

    @EmilyTheVirgo The original book mentions nothing of love stories indeed. The book is basically the journals and diaries of the protagonists. The story starts with Jonathan Harker going to Transylvania to meet the count because Jonathan was working for an agency and was bringing some examples of houses since the Count was interested in purchasing an estate in London The horrors and agony that Jonathan experienced made him get some neurological shock and Mina Harker was still waiting for him and eventually she went to the Transylvania hospital where he was and they got married. At the same time we have Renfeld who is locked into a hospital for the mentally insane and seems to be talking of a mysterious master. We see his case through the diary of his supervising doctor of course. Parallel is the story of Lucy Westerna who is slowly killed by a vampire and Abraham Van Helsing who is helping in saving her but in the enf she dies but returns as a vampire so Van Helsing cooperates with her three good friends to terminate her Meanwhile Jonathan and Mina return to London and hear of the death of Lucy and when Abraham suspects that it was no normal death all of them cooperate to bring down Dracula. Eventually Mona is slowly fading too and so they stop Dracula in the middle of his trip and kill him. Now the story pictures the Count like the devil himself and as a villain but there are plenty of questions in the book. For example if the Count was traveling from Transylvania to London then how could he be the one to attack Lucy and Mina as it is left to assume? If the Count was such a murderer and a monster how did Harker survive after seeing his three vampire brides and knowing the truth? Shouldn't Dracula kill him for knowing too much and then write to his agency that a horrible accident found him across the way? How did Harker survive even if he ended up in a hospital? Many questions rise about this thing. There was a second book published after Bram Stoker's death by one of his sons or some other relative that was turning the original story upside down and it was pretty close to the story shown here or the series I mentioned: That Dracula in reality was not a villain at all and that he had experienced some horrible experience in his life (and indeed I think it was about his wife being murdered) while Jonathan was a cheating scoundrel to Mina and that Van Helsing was a conspiring man that had nothing to do with the wise mentor we see in the original book. Lucy was not killed by Dracula but by some other vampire and that Dracula loved Mina honestly. That book is said to be written by Bram Stoker himself and that it was the sequel of the first story. I think the second book relied on the fact that Count Dracula was mentioned as cruel as devilish and as a vampire mainly by his enemies. That's how we know Vlad the Impaller. By racontations of his enemies so it is quite possible that Stoker wanted to say that things sometimes are not as it seem. So it is this second book that rose all these media adaptations such as this musical or the series with Jonathan Rhys Mayers.

    Interesting with Dracula more reflective less bitey moments. Is that his long life shows change and he's learns enough to know just how temporary some structures are, and how much are understanding, empy, bored and lonely, or all of the above. Also, is that Johnathan's hair lock of Mina, is that Mina's portrait. I prefer the spanish adds to the two towers. I support socialism and and fed up with a number of pitfalls of capitalism, especially as regards to the environment. Skill share also seems decent to me. Thank you for sharing this with us.

    Listen, I am a person of classical and hardstyle music; I do beats and melodies, organic and synthetic, from the deepest bass to the highest frequency, and I've probably heard it all. I've never had the ear for vocals because I just get automatic overall cringe reaction throughout my entire body, and so I avoid it utterly. Disney songs have a special place in hell just waiting for me. But this, this is bizarre, because it works, it's awesome. I don't get it because I actually like it? Whatever it is you did, I guarantee that nobody else on the planet, nobody of the human race, is doing what you do to make this. Your Dracula music videos are very, very, very strange, and good. Strange, and good.

    @@katharinemiller9783 In most adoptions, almost all I've ever seen/read/heard, Dracula falls in love with Mina Harker, a young intelligent woman. Sometimes the feeling is reciprocated. HOWEVER! In the original boothis does NOT happen. The two share a single conversation and a very traumatic encounter in which Dracula bites her, and force-feeds her some of his own blood, so he can spy on the men hunting him through her eyes and ears, which hilariously backfires, as she spies on HIM with the same connection. In the book, at the very first few chapters none the less, Dracula makes three vampire ladies who want to "kiss" aka bite/eat the young JONATHAN Harker, Mina's fiancé (who is in Transylvania to sell Dracula real-estate in England, that's his job) by saying that "He is mine alone" (Don't kill me, haven't read this part in a while), and is generally very flirty, and even blows Jonathan a kiss the last night before his departure. Dracula is VERY gay in these parts and shows no attraction to Mina. So if going by the book, the person in the painting is a man, Jonathan.
