Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming interview w Gene Ching about the YMAA 40 Year Anniversary (read more below)

Dr. Yang, Jwìng-Mǐng (楊俊敏博士) chats from his new home in upstate California with YMAA staff writer Gene Ching about the YMAA 40-year anniversary. Visit ymaa.com/publishing/author/dr...
Yang's Martial Arts Association was established in Boston, MA on October 1, 1982. With the intent of preserving traditional Chinese Kung Fu and Qigong , Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming began training students in the rigors of Shaolin Long Fist and White Crane Kung fu as well as Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan. Dr. Yang also undertook his life-long dream of teaching and researching the Chinese arts and introducing them to the West through many books, videos and DVDs.
YMAA Publication Center was founded on January 1, 1984 with the goal of producing superior books and instructional videotapes on Qigong and Chinese martial arts. YMAA was also an early pioneer in the DVD industry, producing in-depth, extended-play DVDs with hours of instructional content. YMAA Publication Center is a pioneer in the cultural exchange between the East and West. While the West has successfully developed the material sciences, the East is celebrated for its levels of spiritual cultivation. During this ongoing period of exchange, the building of bridges is critical for the successful integration of the achievements of both societies.
Dr. Yang has published over forty books and sixty videos on the martial arts and Qigong. His work has been translated into many languages, including French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Hungarian, Dutch, Czech, Bulgarian and Russian.
For 40 years, Dr. Yang has travelled to teach at YMAA International Branch and Provisional schools and in seminars worldwide. He also travels within America and around the world presenting lectures and seminars on Chinese martial arts and Qigong.
Dr. Yang has a dream. "I want to lead Chinese martial artists in the West back to their roots and help them to regain their original high level of skill and public respect. I also wish to bring Qigong training to the Western world and have it accepted by the Western medical society once and for all."

Thankyou for putting out your videos and books Dr. Yang. I use Tai chi chuan daily since age 14 as guidance to balance each moment. The Dao is the greatest teacher if one can listen and Tai Chi Chuan is the language it uses for us to progress endlessly. Bless!

Hi Dr. Yang, I want to wish you a very happy 40th Anniversary for you and YMAA. This is your old student, Billy, and I have lots of great memories training with you at your Boston headquarters back in 1998-2000. I think about you and your school all the time and I miss your Taijiquan classes and all the wonderful students that I was studying with. I also miss your Spooky talks group class we had I think it was on Friday nights. Thank you for all the happy memories. Wishing you all my best and continued success.

I was first introduced to your books, Dr. Yang, in 1996 by Christian Auger and he really inspired me into much deeper qigong work. I eventually found Huang Weilun, who took me to an even deeper level. I lived in Boston for several years and finally made it into your center for a push hands class. Your son thought I was there for a Shao Lin class. After the warm up, which I wasn’t expecting having eaten too soon before class, had my face a bit white at the end. Your son was concerned and asked if I was ok, and I said I’d be fine, but I thought it was an intense warm up for push hands. 😂 we had a great laugh and I went in to the other room. I’m honored to have learned a great deal from your books, good sir. When Huang Sifu passed away, I learned you two shared a teacher (or more). Many blessings to you and your legacy. 🙏

Congratulations Dr Yang! Thanks for your perseverance, especially during the difficult early years. I had the pleasure of meeting you in Houston at a few seminars in around 1999/2000 at Jeff Bolt’s Kung Fu school.

it was because of you that I met my master Lisa O'Shea. her way of teaching, is like listening to you Si Gung Yang and has opened up ALOT of doors, but at the same time, ALOT of jealously. it's exhausting sometimes.

Believe it or not? When I was in high school? His book helped me so much to break up fight during P.E. 😂 And there's one occasion my junior year high school I'm about to pick on because one of the senior thought I was talking to someone that he like and sadly she doesn't like him? He try to throw gang sign and really wanted to fight. I back away the first day. Then at night I went to check out Dr. Yang book at the library in my city hall and study at night. The next morning I can't wait to confront him. As he try to push me? I counter him.. He fell flat on the lunch bench and everybody ran over to see the fight! Amazingly people witness what happened and he actually got suspended instead of me...
