    What Jordan does that EVERYONE needs to learn, is Jordan's first act is not to rebuke Destiny's claims, instead Jordan first re-states what Destiny says to make sure he understands Destiny's POV. If everyone did that there would be less animosity and more problem solving.

    I agree, JP is showing us a skill that many choose not to practice and correct me if I'm wrong as I try to compound what I'm hearing, and as I write this I see I'm already reading too far into destinies views, but it sounds like destiny is worried about convolutional political stances and landscapes for the denizens of the world due to the influence philosophical social celebrities have on their followers. Destiny wants to get it right and help sort us out through the bs but if the very nature of figuring stuff is always structured in convolution, then we as a whole will remain convoluted... convoluted, I almost never use that word God i feel stupid

    Dr. Peterson is correct in his distinction between gigantism of corporations vs. gigantism of government. The key difference between the two, and this makes all the difference in the world, is that one possess the authority of the law and all that comes with it (fines, imprisonment, DEATH), while the other does not. It's that simple.

    @adamkinne6467

    Ай бұрын

    As a very libertarian person I think gigantism of government is the biggest problem. Without government help the bloated giant corps lose to dedicated small businesses. Small businesses lack overhead and owners run things themselves with care and concern for the business and employees. Employees tend to care more about the employer too. In a large corporation its easy to screw the little guy and for the little guy to sneak by and screw the nameless entities controlling the corp. They bloat up with top heavy departments during hard times. With a large government they get bailouts for bad decisions and gain other government incentives and funding.

  • @meb280

    @@bsaintnyc If a corporation captures the government, whose fault is that? The government is the gatekeeper, they are the check on this kind of thing. If the government is bought by corporations, then the government is corrupt - they could have stopped it in its inception simply by not being corrupt. There is nothing that says the government has to participate in the corruption of a corporation. In addition, if a corporation gets overly large and influential, then the FTC should step in and break them up. Monopolies are not allowed.

    The whole damn problem is that these people think that we can eradicate any and all discomfort. Ultimately, about half of the world would rather have certainty and equality than freedom. When you consider how poorly government spends money - I can't see how simply giving them more money (through taxes) is going to solve anything. That would be like a group of engineers designing an engine that doesn't work - then deciding that it would work if they made it 50% larger. If the government could prove itself trustworthy - and could demonstrate a plan that was likely to improve life for everyone - people might agree to more taxes. But they are bad with money - and people don't trust them.

Then when an emergency arises, they justify even more spending to "fix" the problem. Politicians have been this way in every great empire throughout human history. The problem with this argument, is that the tax money is not helping the poor. They use the tax payers money to "buy" countries and do and CREATE wars. And IM not just talking about Ukraine. Look up some supreme court videos, generals say they give weapons and trainings to african soldiers, and then they make coups, so they put a person in leading country positions, so basically the country is running as they want. And this is not a one time occurance. Also 2k14 ukraine, they put an American friendly PM to lead. No wonder russia gets upset. Another IMPORTANT example : Nord stream 2 pipeline gets blown up ( the biggest CO2 catastrophy as well ). Its well known that is was blown up by US ( putin could just close the tap, not to mention you know something is fishy if they stay silent about this topic. So this move did put EU, Germany in a really bad situation regarding energy. After that US makes a deal, 20yr contract with Germany, that US will be shipping liquified gas, for extremely high Costs. It is interesting that Germany does not say a single Word, meanwhile in every country in EU they agricultural workers are "rioting". What does this suggest ? @@Typhoon792 Peterson was making the point that both sides of the argument come from a similar wariness of gigantic powers, the left of corporations and the right of government, and so they're concerns are grounded in a similar place. Destiny at the end of the clip, in a cheap attempt to deny that the right could hold any moral ground, was implying that the right couldn't be sincere in their beliefs because a portion of them support the Catholic church. The implication being that the church is somehow comparable to a "gigantic" government as they were calling them. Peterson than immediately listed the many ways in which that is totally untrue and completely irrelevant to the concerns of someone worried about an actual tyrannical government.

    Both corporate and government overreach are bad, but at least with giant corporations we know they are primarily profit-driven. With government, we can't always discern their true motivations, especially knowing their historical track record. And corporations actually produce stuff, whereas government's role is merely redistributing the wealth of the private sector.

    The way Peterson not only presents his own arguments effectively, but genuinely tries to understand the arguments of the other person, and waits to receive confirmation that he has summarised their arguments back to them correctly before challenging them is a rare thing. Most people when talking politically don’t care to understand the arguments of their opposition and so they end up arguing against phantoms and so they will always ‘win’ affirming their beliefs, they might as well be arguing with themselves.
