I think Vlasic paid some TikTokers to start a new trend because pickle sales were lagging.

I would also recomend using at least 60 -65 grains of powder for plinking. It also depends on the rifling rate of twist. That one looks to have a 1/48" twist ( compromise rate of twist) not really suited to heavier 90- 100 grain loads. If it was a 1/66" or slower twist it would be a good heavy load round ball rifle.

Pickles in the Dr Pepper? Looks like it exploded with a bang and that’s about all it’s worth lol. Never shot a black powder rifle been spoiled by a cartridge my whole life.

It would be wise, when loading with your ramrod, not to start with your hand so far up on that rod. You will eventually. Break your ramrod. Best to load using a dedicated range rod. Save your rifles ramrod for when out in the field.

That sounds like great advice. There’s always more to know. I have a range rod but never thought about needing it for that. Guess that’s why they call it a range rod. 😂 Duh. Thanks again for the advice!!!

I believe you are correct! I was taught to do this decades ago. After watching many KZread videos I don’t think you need to do this. Thanks for the advice. 👍

Actually, it does clear the vent and extinguish any potential embers in the barrel. Your breath also keep the fouling soft in the barrel, making for more accurate follow up shots and for easier reloading. I've been shooting black powder for over 50 years and a living history reenactor for overv38 years, so I know if what a am talking about. Yeah, I know, for all of you safety, Nellie's out there. It's a damn one-shot gun. I do believe you know if it went boom or not. Give it a rest.

Thanks. That’s the way I was taught fifty years ago. But I was raised in farming community and we didn’t have the internet just old guys to show us young guys. Very small group shooting muzzle loaders back then. Thanks again!
