Dr. Oz On Why Men Are Embarrassed To Talk About Mental Health Issues | TODAY

As our No Shave TODAY campaign continues to spotlight men’s health issues, Dr. Stephen Snyder says a “male quality” often makes men reluctant to ask for help, whether it’s asking for directions or getting mental health treatment. Dr. Mehmet Oz says if men really want to “man up” for their family, they should reach out if they show signs of mental health issues.

This is why I avoid jobs with women. I’m not anti women but women are more in tune with their emotions and more open about them so when they see someone like me with Avoidant Personality Disorder it’s quite obvious who’s the mental case. I’m bad at pretending like I’m fine but I still try to hide. I feel like Tyler Durden from fight club. I can’t stand it because they’re not at all nihilistic in thinking like me. They’re all about their natural form. What I mean is that if they see a dude like me who’s pathetic but also not trying his luck with them or showing any signs of attraction to them…..I don’t know it just feels like I wouldn’t last very long working at these jobs because of how out of tune I am with the natural human order. It honestly makes me wonder if women ever experience long periods of nihilistic thinking. Men are just expected to perform but we’re not always up. Sometimes we’re down and in recovery. I just got charged with a DUI last year so that alone lowers my self esteem severely, I’ve only got $600 in my bank account, living with my alcoholic uncle, car is a piece of junk, my clothes are torn and old, I’ve become very scrawny from years of just laying in bed defeated, I’ve lost all my friends, my physical health is declining at 25 especially from all the drinking, etc. It wasn’t till recently that I’ve been even just thinking about MAYBE getting back up and trying again. I don’t mind working hard for money. You can have me out in the hot sun all day working but that’s not my worry. I’m worried that people will see how weak I am and use that against me. People prey on the weak and right now I’m weak and I know it. I just wish I could throw myself into an inferno of masculinity. I’m waiting for my probation to end so that I can maybe join a backbreaking job like you see on tv with men on boats battling with the high and violent tides of the ocean or out on the oil fields working 12 hour shifts. I can’t fake smiles or confidence so that’s why I hate working customer service jobs that have more women than other jobs.

I'm a medical doctor as well as a depression patient and I can whole heartedly second this sentiment. actually what's even more accurate is that mid level providers in psychology that are not trained to diagnose at all are the first point of contact many people are sent to. they also come riddled with their biases largely fueled by what they have been programmed to believe is true through a corrupt social sciences and humanities divisions in our educational institutions which like to vilify men under some misconceived idea of the male patriarchy (which as a student of history I can say is less reflective of real history and more reflective of the spin culture we unfortunately live in). sexism against men is real and its actually VERY VERY common 75% or more now of the social sciences and humanities are dominated by women now and I mean the radical feminist types. this huge bias is reflected in the way we manage male mental health patients, why most therapists are trained for violence against women and almost none are trained for violence against men. a society in which men aren't cared for is also a society in which women are unhappy. this is reflected in population wide studies of the west on repeated occasions. until we bring the downfall of the radical feminist institutions that we live under nothing will change.

There is a very big difference in relationships as well. Many more women are able to find a partner if they have a mental illness, especially a more a-typical condition like schizophrenia or OCD. Men have more of an urge to take care of a woman even if she is ill. Women on the other hand, want to feel secure and Having a boyfriend or husband with a mental illness makes that extremely difficult.

Try out some new hobbies, or writing your emotions out on paper through journaling(you'd be surprised how much it helps), or if need be to a professional. You can always go out with a couple of friends( safely of course). Hope this helps

To be honest it's those people who treat ill badly .... Are stupid .. Imagine winning a game and people appreciating u that's good right..but here it's the opposite...and bad U not losing or winning at all..even if u lose still no one should devalue u .. ..u suffering and instead of helping or sharing some love ❤and showings some Care .. They judge even more and disrespect even more ... Plz let me know your broader views on this topic .. My last words would be no matter what happens wheather it's physical or mental pain or challenges . u must keep living and fulfill your purpose of life and find a way of happiness .and find love ❤ and share love and compassion . Life is worth living ✨ 😌 no matter what challenges we gonna die anyway .keep going and pushing and see the shackles break. life is worth living for purpose and love and some injury or some challenges , dely ,losses and difficulty are still never any enough reason for u to stop..

No, that’s not it at all. We don’t open up because we don’t want our struggles weaponized against us, especially by women. I know this is true because it happened to me. It’s like waiving your Miranda rights: anything you say can and will be used against you.

To you reading this right now: Something WONDERFUL is going to happen to you and for you today. Know that all of this right now is temporary. You will , in just a short while, fill yourself with tranquil feelings and lucid dreams. All you need to do is look to God, right now, and pray with me... LORD; Give me the strength and clarity of mind to find my purpose and walk the path you've laid out for me. ReInstill in my heart that are a good God and faithful, and you will help me challenge my worries with life-building truth instead of destructive thoughts. I ask that you take these anxious feelings off of me, and carry this away for me. Help me to feel only your peace and pure love wash through me right now and allow me to rest in your serenity. Whatever it is you want me to hear from you speaking through all this, please put it into my heart as I rest. I am so thankful that you are here to be this friend for me. As you hold me right now, I feel Your peace guarding my heart and mind in Jesus’ name. AMEN.
