Hey Opsiian! Im a small creator that was inspired by you to create their channel, and OH MY GOD the lore of M.O.T.H is amazing. I would like to take some inspiration, if possible! I have 3 (maybe 4) ideas, and if none of them are okay with you, then thats completely fine! - My own Iterator OC who collapsed and joined with M.O.T.Hs superstructure that genetically mutates scavengers and random creatures and sends them off, but they generally find their way into the superstructure and annoy M.O.T.H, -a specimen that M.O.T.H created that has gained sentience, -or a iterator that found one of M.O.T.H.s experiments! Tysm for reading, i may post this across more logs from M.O.T.H just in hopes of getting info, dont mean to annoy ya :D

Random ideas I came up with from watching these videos: I made the names on the spot along with this comment. Sorry if the slugcat names are unoriginal. Rivulet Train lizard hybrid; LttCotV decided to try mixing slugcat and lizard dna with various results. The Tralet is very similar to dogs of our world, attention seeking. Whenever LytCotV tries to get samples of various creatures, the Tralet comes back in a few cycles with the corpse of what they were looking for. The Tralet is also very playful but will usually end up killing whatever they were playing with. Because it’s a mix of Train lizard and Rivulet, it is quite fast, both on land and in water. They are a slugcat the size of a Blue Lizard. They are a dark blue with light purple highlights. Artificer Strawberry lizard hybrid; To Listens to the Call of the Void surprise, this project yielded successful results. This one was more lizard than slugcat, I am dubbing this one the Raspberry Lizard. It is very similar to the normal Strawberry but it is extremely aggressive and has an explosive bite. It also has a good bit more accuracy than the Strawberry. Several more were made before LttCotV realized that the Raspberry Lizard were hostile to everything except to each other, which caused them to form multiple packs. And like Artificer, they have an explosive jump. LttCotV was forced to release them from my facility due to them devouring anything loose in my structure. They are the size of a Yellow Lizard. Spearmaster Red Lizard hybrid; The Spine Lizard surprised LttCotV by being an ambush predator. It’s nearly black hide and fairly flat body means that it’s hiding capabilities are superb. Similar to Spearmasters ability to pull spears from their tail, Spine Lizards can shoot spines from their mouths. This means that whatever prey they deem viable and close enough, will shortly end up looking like a pincushion. One downside is that producing these spears takes decent amount of energy, so they target prey their size and smaller which can include; anything the Dropwig hunts, Dropwigs, and Blue Lizards. They are slightly smaller than a normal Red Lizard. Gourmand Caramel Lizard hybrid; An extremely lazy slugcat, the Gourmel rarely moves from its spot. Unless, something catches its attention. In which case, it will start to track its location and pick a spot to leap with it’s powerful legs and crash into its prey. It will then consume almost all of whatever unfortunate soul got caught, leaving barely a trace before returning to its den. Tralet bit it playfully and, surprisingly, it didn’t die. But it didn’t play with them, to their disappointment. Almost nothing bothers to hunt them because they are too heavy. They are the size of a Blue Lizard.

I would have suggested that Rivulet would probably have the skillset to evade most things that M.O.T.H would have their facilities surrounded with, but the noteable lack of water would probably be trouble. I think the slugcat designed to effectively destroy M.O.T.H would be either one that is covered in moisturizing fire resistant and poisonous and or bad smelling secretion as if you combined a skunk and a poison frog, or just reinvent the mole in the form or a slugcat- or specifcially invent a mole that can burrow through metal and other material. The later sounds like a pain to execute as there are no native digging mechanics in rainworld, but it would be a pretty fair and maybe easy circumvention lore wise to most of the stunts that M.O.T.H has their creatures pull, and evading mycelyium systems might be intresting gameplay wise. Either way, can you imagine how cool it would be to turn The Magpie against MOTH by luring it to aim at the right position? Depending on MOTH’s hubris and foresight, you might need to hijack it’s programing to no longer avoid firing at MOTH’s structures- how is a good question, you might be able to do it while it lands to refuel- I mean whatever it uses to ignite fire has to run out eventually, and as it is completly mechanic it cannot create it on it’s own like a bombardier beetle. Either way, I imagine being able to turn your biggest opponent and reaper to your biggest ally in your mission would be very satisfying. I atleast assume that the magpie would be instructed somehow to specifically target the super special slugcat with demolition of an entire super computer it’s entire goal, unless… the other iterators send the most ordinary looking, least noticeable slugcat that avoids being made the target altogether. The possibilities man!

@@No-longer1 yeahh, we could bate a magpie into drilling holes in M.O.T.H.'s exterior by using the pipe evasion we use with with the regular vultures or lizards, but more intentionally trying to antagonize it. the scug itself would have to be fire-resistant like the artificer, sturdy like the gourmand but also nimble and fast like the rivulet to have a chance of survival against these superbeasts Monolith made. we can also give it the stink of the geoducks to evade the plants similar to using the fruit against the worm grass. bot trying to combine even two of these would be difficult and m.o.t.h. already said it himself that trying to make a specimen with the downpour scugs resulted in cycles of failure before he could get even one to work properly and even then they were unpredictable with their behavior, being unruly at best, and straight up vanishing at worse.

My reaction upon seeing the Junk Lizard: Now how would I go about taming this one? I don't care that its face is a hydraulic press, given enough attempts I will surely figure out how to befriend it. After all, it still has a lizard brain!

This is some ideas I came up with(I’m retyping this from my crappy memory)(random oc lore, LttCotV’s comms were fucked but they didn’t care) Rivulet Train Lizard hybrid; this dark blue and light purple slugcat is similar to dogs of our world, playful and attention seeking. When LttCotV made them, they wanted a friend. And they definitely got one. Tralet is extremely playful and a people pleaser so whenever Listens to the Call of the Void needed more samples, Tralet would run off for a few cycles and come back with the corpse of the creature LttCotV needed. Because they are extremely playful, Tralet ended up killing a lot of the wildlife with their powerful bite. They are slightly bigger than the average slugcat and anything can be food for them. They are covered in tiny, arrow shaped scales. Artificer Strawberry Lizard hybrid; the Raspberry Lizards are pack creatures that are hostile to almost anything alive. Their bodies are just as strong as Strawberry Lizards(strawberry lizards are saints green lizards) and they have the same grappling tongue. What makes the Raspberry Lizards special is that they have an explosive bite and jump. They tend to mark their territory by tearing the ground to shreds. Their bite has similar power to a grenade. As their namesake, they are a dark red color and are the size of a Yellow Lizard. Spearmaster Red Lizard hybrid; the Spine Lizard turned out to be an ambush predator, and a good one at that. Their nearly black hide and flattened body means that they hide in the floor. They have amazing vision and hearing. One thing that is unfortunate for its prey is its ability to shoot spines from its mouth, turning any prey in front of it into a pincushion. Once the prey has been caught, it is eaten whole, spines and all. After it has eaten, it is much easier to notice and nowhere easier to kill. Its scales are too tough for a spear to pierce it. Gourmand Caramel Lizard hybrid; the Gourmel is an extremely lazy slugcat that rarely moves from its chosen spot. That is, unless something catches its attention. After its prey reaches an appropriate spot, the Gourmel will leap with its powerful legs onto its prey. If it’s in a frenzy, it is capable of making several high jumps in a row. I had to separate Tralet from them for not playing with them and was biting Gourmel hard, probably trying to kill it, without any success. It is a golden yellow color with few scales and a thick layer of fat.

Operation: Avian Assault Step 1: utilize a messenger slugcat to tame a junk lizard, if possible (preferably multiple) Step 2: locate the Magpie without being engulfed in flame immediately Step 3: attempt to coax the tamed biomechanical lizard into pouncing onto the Magpie using it's 6 legs when the Magpie is low enough Step 4: Pray the hydraulic press is enough to cripple or destroy the Magpie enough to allow for easier transportation of knowledge Purpose: Only if all members of the local group are coordinated enough will we (they) have any chance of preventing the collapse of the local biosphere, and prevent mass extinction.

Definite horror beyond my comprehension, my favorite Also, I see that MOTH has the same symbol on their head as that community post from a couple days ago

i wonder how m.o.t.h would feel if the slugcats somehow killed one of the creature hybrids he made

Rain world already gave me chills, if these specimens where in the game I think I'd die of fear. In other words, great job!

I could see a great mod being created out of this stuff, it's so well fleshed out. I can imagine a storyline forming, based around slugcats sent by the rest of the Local Group, or perhaps escaped spliced slugcats looking to take revenge on their cruel creator... An aged, rusted Magpie slams into a memory cabinet with a piercing screech of tearing metal, the synthetic fabric of its avian wings scorched, eaten and pockmarked by some potent corrosive agent. The Hellion, beaten up but ultimately not too much worse for wear, emerges out of the smog-shrouded wreckage and takes its bearings as best it can. The infernal nightmare chickens will soon be upon it, for the screech-clank of piston-legs grows louder from all directions. The Hellion twists its ragged, shapeless maw into something of a grimace, for it had not ingested anything for two cycles or so. The northwesternmost leg of a gargantuan metal superstructure looms ahead. Off it bounds, but not before drawing a pair of long, barbed, and wickedly sharp needles from its curious tail. "..." "Hello, little scoundrel." "Where have you come from? You look... oddly... never mind." The puppet of Seven Red Suns gazes down at the new arrival in his chamber. The Hellion, for its part, understands nothing of the Ancient Tongue and picks at a bloody chunk of rusted metal lodged in its side as it finds its footing again in the gently renewed gravitational field. Seeing that the wretched creature did not possess the Mark of Communication, Suns lowers his puppet down to ground level, and attempts the only thing he can do short of the... uncomfortable enlightenment process. Given the creature's irritable demeanour, malevolent air and sustained injuries, he decided it would be prudent to avoid that for now. he signs clearly and concisely, in an old system of gestures used in the Yellow Hegemonic Dynasty, the very same system he uses for the messenger of his own creation, and whose blueprints he had naïvely sent via the broadcast network to Monolith of the Hateful. Whether or not the Hellion understands, it crouches down on the screen-panelled floor, produces a needle, and begins scratching a symbol into the panel. "Monolith..." Suns muses. Then, the Hellion drives its needle into the symbol once, twice, thrice, until the screen panel sparks, flashes, and cuts out. The already exhausted creature collapses, billowing hot black fumes from its burnt mouth. The chamber's chemical alarms indicate an unknown compound similar to that found in cherrybomb shrubs, but much more corrosive. Several of the old scars along its throat and chest had reopened and ooze a dark, viscous fluid. "What cruelty you have exacted by bringing these pitiful things into being. To what end? Whatever it is, it cannot be worth this..." I just had to get this out. This is such a cool set of ideas, I just had to play around with it. I really enjoy all the little side diagrams and accurately-used glyphs. It adds so much life and believability.

I don’t know about you but I think if the Seamstress survived to the burning of the mycelium it would be a very large threat to anything not artificial. That is not even counting the fact that it produces clones like means that growth is exponential in capacity as it doesn’t directly double in size but doubles in fast it can grow. If it doesn’t split into multiple Seamstresses it would probably be miles long at this point in the time line and reck havoc if none of the fungus survived. As that fungus is probably keeping a seamstress in check as incase you didn’t notice it infects invertebrates too making the seamstress extremely vulnerable because of what they do. In a matter of hours the Seamstress could die from fungal infections. Anyways love the story made.

@@Valraven I think Seamtress is a good way to stop even a high skill level player from trying to go through an area with an character like the Arc or the Hellion where the tatic is for most fights is likely going to involve getting to higher ground. For the Arc it is likely for making the slugpups diving in with bomb or spear try to fight it while you sit back and reap rewards if they win. Because even if get to higher ground it is still going to be either thousands of spiders that can crawl up walls, depending on how big an actual single spider is I had been imagining like wolf spider because it is a component and will likely lead towards the bigger side, or one big train of spiders that you can’t simply just throw stuff at to stop because the fact is the healthy pool would be absolutely huge if they don’t split into multiple Seamtresses as it is going few thousands if they split up mainly or if they don’t it is miles long so getting to higher ground isn’t gonna be that easy unless you have a singularity even then it is probably so long it goes that mostly if it would probably not be in the radius. As it is though getting to higher grounds helps a lot since some enemies can’t climb so a leviathan that can basically go in environment besides water would great as it greatly improves risk of anyone trying pass through most areas. Anyways I have to stop as it is getting late.

I think I know why M.O.T.H is deceased. A bunch of iterators just worked together to make a big light source and then M.O.T.H simply could not resist and was burnt.

Perhaps it is just me, but I sense hints of regret in Monolith's words. Especially at the end. "There is always...more work to be done...." It speaks to me of the straws of sanity and remnants of empathy crying out, unable to be fully silenced. Does Monolith regret their actions? Do they still truly believe what they do is justified? Do they feel anything for the creatures they create? I hear hints of pride in "bioweapon completed." Sure, it could easily be summed up to megalomania, but I simply find it more compelling if MOTH was...joyous to see their little abominations flourish. Perhaps Monolith suffers from an entirely different kind of rot, a more metaphorical one...in which their own mind is consuming itself. I'm probably reading it all wrong, or am reading too far into it, but it is still compelling.

I've got an idea: what about a garbage worm/scavenger/inspector, with the purpose of snatching pearls out of messangers, with the garbage worm part serving for grabbing the pearls, scavenger part for affinity to pearls (and also a scavenger with inspector size limbs and inspector size body would be pretty scary like the other creatures here) and the inspector to detect pearls even if inside slugs like with the spearmaster.

That last one is an arachnophobe's nightmare. /pos And the Junk Lizard is super cool! I would probably hate fighting it though... I really hope this M.O.T.H. series continues! It's much more interesting than just hybridizing creatures for the heck of it.

If any of these existed, rainworld would truly be a horror-survival game.

It would be cool if the leviathan, red lizard, and caramel lizard mix, had a tongue that could shoot out and at the end of the tongue is three prongs that will shock and stun anything giving the creature a chance to insta kill said prey, due to this tongue, the creature will jump even lower

I want all these hybrids in a mod for rainworld. That would be so awesome and would be even better if we could play as a few slugcat hybrids.

I love all of your creature designs and have made some of my own, I'm especially a fan of the seamstress, but the only one that's bothering me a bit is the magpie which is fully mechanical, but other than that its amazing and I hope you keep up the good work, and don't forget to have fun while doing it!

As to fully mechanical entities, there are already the garbage worms, which literally sound like lawn mowers and are virtually unkillable, and then there are the Guardians, whatever the hell they are. So while there are fully or mostly mechanical things out there, they aren't common, which makes something like the Magpie all the more unsettling while being within the realm of believability.

These are always so cool! I’d LOVE to see a campaign set in MOTH’s time, perhaps we could control, or even fight AGAINST those slugcat hybrids! And all of these sick creatures are amazing, it’d be awesome if we could see them in game, even the Magpie, pursuing the slugcat in a fiery rage!
