You may also be on the autism spectrum, just a thought you may want to look into :) It presents differently in girls and women. (Can happen in males too) There is something called "Social masking" which means you put on a performance of trying to behave normal in front of others to not be considered weird or different. Doing so you may be copying the behavior of others to find out how to fit in and appear normal, hiding your real awkward self in the process because you know this is not accepted by society.. Quite often social anxiety may often be mixed with undiagnosed Autistic traits. Experts have now come to a greater understanding but more needs to be done.

Yes, all this happens, but you're missing the explanation, Dr Barry. As Pia Mellody explains, this is typically the result of childhood abuse and neglect. See her video titled Pia Mellody Codependence Full Version. It's not a malfunction or a character defect, it's an instinctive defense strategy in childhood, that persists afterwards because it's become a habit. Once you understand this, you can help people heal the actual wounds that keep them unhappy, instead of merely erasing the symptom, the anxiety. See my channel for how this worked for me!

Social anxiety are undiagnosed autistic traits in my opinion.
