I was there! at the Geordie scene for the whole show in 1975 with my m8 Mick, you can see us to the left of Lee Brillieux the lead singer, I'm the one with the big collar on the outside of my beau brummell jacket aged 16, happy days. 😂

Saw Wilko play this in his own band not long after he split with Dr Feelgood at the Half Moon in Putney. He walked on to the stage and just said "I feel so depressed" then he hit it. Magic, really, Magic. In under a second I reckon over 99% of the crowd were dancing, it was like the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Never seen anything like it before or since..

Lee Brilleaux was a superb lead singer driving the band forward with singing and harmonica and never ending intensity. Wilko's unique choppy guitar style and writing were essential too

I love this because in 1975 I was one of those kids in baggies, big collared shirt and tank top, just not getting it. A couple of years later, I thought (and still think) they were one of the best bands ever. Privileged to have seen Wilko a few times since.

I saw this band about 5 times in Guildford, in a small club called The Gin Mill. They blew everybody's minds. There were 50 people at the first gig. We were only used to long haired hippie types back then. The second gig, a few weeks later, was packed out. The band were a total sensation.Paul Weller and members of The Stranglers were at these gigs too. You can see the influence.About a year later they did a sell out gig with Kokomo and Chilli Willi at the Guildford Civic hall. There was something very 'no nonsense' about them, mixed with some strange menace.

@@stevebowness9435 True, Steve. I wonder where they got their unique style from. It was so out of keeping with the times. But when you look back at The Jam etc you can see their influence. They came across as really menacing, but I had a chat with them after a gig and they were all really nice!

@@MichaelJones-ke9yr Hi Michael I know Lee was a huge fan of Howlin Wolf and Wilko was hugely influenced by Johnny Kidd and the Pirates I suppose they just threw their ideas into the mixer and it turned out the way it did! But you're right, they were a complete one off! In an era where it was mostly Prog Rock, long hair and space boots, along came The Feelgoods with their de mobbed suits and basin haircuts! Every cover song they did they sort of put their own stamp on it and made it their own..incredible!! And that moody and morose look they had...almost sneering at the audience Lee smoking as he was singing and playing harp, I could go on all day but one thing I do know is they were and still are my favourite Band of all time

As a 16 year old in 1975 this is how i looked and danced. Not the most energetic movement of all time but that was the way it is. Live performance by one of the great 70s bands. Great part of social history as well. When they did 'Baby Jane' it was one of the first 'punk' records. Heard it played full volume as I passed a record shop in Hamilton. You had to take notice.
