ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Eduardo De La Cruz was born and raised in the island of Puerto Rico. He received his bachelor’s degree, Biological Sciences, in 2003 from the University of Georgia. He then attended the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine where he focused on equine veterinary medicine and surgery. Prior to veterinary school, he worked for over 10 years with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Office of Public Health Science branches.
While on the east coast, Dr. De La Cruz, his wife, Margie, and teenage daughter, Frances, were heavily involved with the American Red Cross Disaster Services where they assisted the victims of fires, floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes. His professional interests include lameness, podiatry, reproduction, and dentistry. Outside of work, he enjoys water skiing, motorcycle riding, and playing hand drums.
ABOUT LBEMC
Conveniently located in the community of Penryn, California, just northeast of Sacramento, LBEMC offers a practice unique to the area. With the exception of the U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, LBEMC is the only facility in Northern California offering hospitalization, surgery and intensive care for horses. The original Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic was established in 1975 for both farm and companion animals. In 1991, the large animal clinic was established as an independent practice in order to improve patient care by focusing services primarily on horses. With the equine hospital opened in 2004, the practice was officially renamed Loomis Basin Equine Medical Center in 2005.
Today, LBEMC doctors bring a combination of specialty training focusing on continuing education, energy, and a commitment to quality health care for horses. Associate doctors are selected for their high professional standards, humanitarian spirit, and specific interest in horses.
