Dr. Bob - AA Speaker - His "last major talk" before he passed away

From the book Alcoholics Anonymous: "Most of us feel we need look no further for Utopia. We have it with us right here and now. Each day my friend's simple talk in our kitchen multiplies itself in a widening circle of peace on earth and good will to men."
Addiction treatment WORKS! The Twelve Step Model has been utilized as a treatment for alcohol abuse and alcoholism since 1935. It is extremely important to know that help IS out there and addiction recovery is possible. If you are battling alcoholism, drug addiction, addiction or any other form of addictive behavior, there are people who know EXACTLY what it is like!
You can find out more at: www.aa.org - Alcoholics Anonymous Official Site - As should be blatantly obvious, we are in no way affiliated with them or any other Twelve Step Program. We are just looking to provide hope to those suffering from alcoholism or addiction.
It is important to note there are several ways for one to address his or her alcohol abuse treatment. Substance abuse is a very serious condition and has become an epidemic in today's world. Many people suffering with substance abuse need treatment, such as inpatient stays, rehab, or counseling. The importance and purpose of this video, and all our other videos, is to show that recovery IS possible and to give hope to those who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction issues. His story is like mine. Jitters, working to get booth everyday. and that was for 18 years. Sober now thanks to him and Bill. It's working one day at a time.

Abuse of both are symptom of a greater ailment, one that's mental and spiritual. It could just as easily be about gambling, or overeating. There is physical compulsion, which is stronger with some addictions than with others, but this is usually twarfed by a life that ends up revolving around the object of abuse.

Like Dr. Bob explains, the answer is in the Good book. That's why the Oxford Group was where they sobered up and where the steps came from, not from Bill. Read "What is the Oxford Group" and you will see where the steps came from.

Bill did adaptations to the steps and they added up to 12 when he was writing How It Works. He noted 12 Steps, 12 Apostles. They were heavily influenced by the Oxford tenants, yet they were very much created by Bill. Bill noted to Bob that there had to be a guide to the solution to the drinking problem.
