Dr. Anita Phillips On Praying In Hard Times, The Duality of Grief and Joy, Faith, Therapy & More

Фильм және анимация

Trauma Therapist, Minister, and New York Times Best- Selling Author, Dr. Anita Phillips is sharing tangible tools and eye-opening revelations about healing through faith and psychology in the newest episode of "Healed Girl Era Podcast." Her powerful book, "The Garden Within: Where the War with Your Emotions Ends and Your Most Powerful Life Begins," takes readers on a journey of how God designed our bodies with deep intention and reverence for the full spectrum human experience. In this conversation, Gia and Dr. Anita explore how she navigates times of deep joy and debilitating sadness, the importance of faith and therapy, why loving on our body is important, the healing power of music, exercises to calm the vagus nerve, and more. She also shares two memorable words to pray that could be a game-changer for anyone who is dealing with the storms of life, but wants to stay connected to God.

Someone sent this to me and I thought it was about grief because that's what Dr. Phillips was talking about in the clip I heard before watching. In 2023 I lost four people very unexpectedly in a five month period, and just lost someone else in the same manner. I was here for ALL the grief navigation assistance. What I received exceeded my expectations and gave me some tools. It was refreshing to be the recipient and sip from cool, healing waters. THANK YOU both for your obedience to TMH and for lending your voices and gifts to the Kingdom!!!

I found myself lying in bed in tears this morning. I had only gotten up to brush my teeth and then I laid back down and let the tears flow. But I’m not sure why this happened. I lost my dad in Nov 2021 and I don’t believe I’ve been able to grieve his death as I should have. I plan to purchase Dr. Anita’s book though because I have so many things going on in my head. Maybe it’s anxiety, maybe it’s depression…I don’t know. “Be well with your whole story.”…Oh my goodness! I’m watching this again…too many nuggets to not write it down.

A entire therapy session ❤ 22:38 sing in all spaces of your life. 22:56 the vagus nerve …. Emotions are bodily experiences and they begin in our autonomic nervous system. It runs the stuff we are not in charge of. 24:30 when the vagus nerve is awake, when it’s activated… it gives life to every part of us 🥺❤️‍🩹 calms us down. Painful emotions are hunger pains; when I’m sad I’m hungry for connection …when I’m afraid I’m hungry for safety and when I’m angry I’m hungry for value. WOW 🥺 can we just mmmmmmmmm the entire episode because sheesh 😩 tread lightly when you watch this 😭😭😭😭😭😭 38:05 just sit Still 🥺 and see what you feel in your body! 38:25 meet yourself in your own body! 55:59 😭😭😭😭😭 stop trying to leave things behind “Be well with your whole story”

❤Thank you both for this life-changing and transformative message of love, hope, acceptance, and power. I have honestly been struggling silently with the very issues and concerns that you've discussed. Yes, music matters, and for a while now, I have wondered how to embrace where I am at 53 and visualize success at this stage of my life. Oftentimes, I would sing and lead worship service, but I actually stopped singing. However, when I allowed myself to listen to anointed gospel songs and sing along, I experienced freedom and peace that overrides every situation. I am encouraged on so many levels right now. I will also buy the book and go deeper to understand how best to heal , live with my whole self. Blessings ❤

This is blessing me so much. I paused at the part where Dr Anita said to sit in silence and check in with our bodies… 20 seconds in, the tears came flooding out! I’ve been suppressing sadness for some time now and have been able to reflect on the fact that I’m yearning for connection (and have been turning to food to get that quick fix). I didn’t have language for it prior to this moment, so thank you! I’ve reached out to a girlfriend so that need can be met. Thank you so much for such edifying content and I’m looking forward to getting into the book 🧡

Speaking of beauty, physical beauty, I think even if I was blind I would still find beauty in you, because it's what you say that's beautiful, it's what you say that revives dead plants. And thank you Ms. Anita Phillips for your beautiful transparency and treasures of how to get through certain situations and spaces that feel so uncomfortable while healing. The part I loved the most was when you said (paraphrasing) why is it not enough for me to go out and deliver my gifts without needing to fit the societal expectations of being beautiful first. I want you to be so lost in my internal gifts manifesting outwardly that you forget about my looks. That really touched my spirit. I thank you for those words and saying them out loud.
