Dr. Alan Goldhamer is the co-founder of TrueNorth Health Center, a state-of-the-art facility that provides medical and chiropractic services, psychotherapy and counseling, as well as massage and bodywork. He is also director of the Center's groundbreaking residential health education program.
Articulate, inspiring and energetic, Dr. Goldhamer is one of the most pioneering and dedicated visionaries in health today. An outspoken professional who doesn't shy away from a spirited debate, he is deeply committed to helping people stuck in self-destructive cycles reclaim their ability to change their lives.
Dr. Goldhamer has supervised the fasts of thousands of patients. Under his guidance, the Center has become one of the premier training facilities for doctors wishing to gain certification in the supervision of therapeutic fasting.
Dr. Goldhamer was the principal investigator in two landmark studies. The first: "Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting in the Treatment of Hypertension" appeared in the June 2001 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. Its publication marked a turning point in the evolution of evidence supporting the benefits of water-only fasting. The second study: "Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting in the Treatment of Borderline Hypertension," appeared in the October 2002 issue of the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Goldhamer is directing a team that is developing a prospective study, incorporating random assignment and long-term follow-up on the cost and clinical outcomes in the treatment of diabetes and high blood pressure with fasting and a health-promoting diet.
After completing his chiropractic education at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Goldhamer traveled to Australia, where he became licensed as an osteopathic physician. He is the author of The Health Promoting Cookbook and co-author of The Pleasure Trap: Mastering The Hidden Force That Undermines Health and Happiness.

@@jgrysiak6566 You can easily make your own condiments. Just search online for recipes for both and leave out the salt. For mustard it's basically mustard powder and vinegar and for catsup it's mostly tomato paste, vinegar, small amount of sweetener (honey or date paste...make your own or apple sauce) and spices of your choice. I think more often than not family and friends feel threatened by change when someone loses significant weight. They fear that the relationship may change, that the relationship may no longer be what they have become accustomed to. Their own insecurities surface. I recently lost 33 pounds and have 30 more to lose. One of my friends brought me a tub of strawberry ice cream. Others said I was getting too skinny. I just smiled and have kept on losing.

Chef AJ in one of your recent interviews with your favourite female dermatologist she said some research DID show that applying coconut oil to the skin DID increase cholesterol...so she said dont put it on skin....in the same interview she also said applying it to the facehas also been shown to increase propensity to have or get acne...so like she suggested ive stopped using it for anything i live in Australia....apparently our soils are quite iodine deficient...so when i quit iodised salt i ended up with a deficiency....im not keen on seaweed taste but dont want to take any supplements other than b12 so i buy wakame or arame & grind them in my coffee grinder...then sprinkle a heaped 1/2 teasppon of one or the other on my brekky cereal...oats in fact...you cannot taste it at all.. that gives me the necessary 150 mcgs of iodine and fixed my deficiency problem...i would use dulse at the same measurement if i could get it. but i nevet go near kelp bc its very possible to overdose on iodine with kelp which leads to other problems. One thing that dr goldhamer said though that confused me was that the iodine test wasnt that easy...it was a challenge test..not a blood test...well here in Australia im sure mine was just a separate blood test?

Chef AJ we are big fans (wife and I). My question is why can I go for weeks or even about two months on the diet then I go off for Christmas or something and can never get back and then get so bad I am eating everything bad for me until I get back to the diet and sanity. In the meantime my weight goes back up and I feel terrible.

I think chocolate, sugar, cakes, alcohol and cocaine should all be addressed the same , as addictions and treated as so. Going on SOS PLANT DIET reduces the cravings to some degree but you have to use all the tools you would for avoiding more recognised "drugs" or addictions and habits. AVOID, MAKE ONE OF AJs super sugar free desserts. 🍌🍓🙏👍🏃‍♂️😻🥦🥑💥👌👌

When I had lost 120 lbs. my husband at the time started bringing home a piping hot pizza every day after work. I asked him not to do that, but he felt he had to because he didn't like eating alone at restaurants. It was the beginning of the end of my successful diet AND my marriage. (This was back when there was little to no social support and way before KZread.)

@@gabrielekennedy6123 Yes, he brought pizza home every night Mon-Fri. He was a very "habitual" person. And even after a year and a half of my being on raw diet and making all kinds of recipes, he refused to ever so much as taste them. In the beginning he had said, "Don't tell me; show me." I showed him and he didn't like it. (But then he preferred me to be fat.)

BMI under 16 for underweight, Thank You! So much grief from people at BMI 17 and the charts say we need to be at least 18.5 and I eat all day long and just was having a terrible time getting that scale number to grow, for 2 years, WFPBNSOS and was seriously starting to wonder if I needed to add oil but I didn't want the rest of the negative crap that comes with the oil. Problem solved! 💗🥦🍎🥬🍅🍉💚
