    common sense is something that doesn't exist in politics. The fact that theres a giant hunk of shit (that costs 2500 dollars btw, ask me how i know) that goes to a junkyard everytime the dpf goes bad doesn't sound so great for the environment, or the fact that it burns a significant amount more gas with dpf than without, or again what you said, the fact that unwrecked trucks are getting sent to scrapyards with as low as 200,000 miles is ridiculous.

    I think since 2017 with the cost of diesels as an option and their limited life now (220,000 max, was 1 million) you can no longer recover your investment on a diesel. Plus add the urea iniection (DEF), DPF and EGR maintenance you just lose out as a non commercial owner. The discussion about the sensors and the cross referencing of all those values? What do you think the chance is for a check engine light? The EPA simply has choked the life of a diesel into the ground for the regular guy.

Now, at 220,000 you've spent $5000 somewhere (fuel rail, fouled injectors- injector pump now at 20,000 psi and going higher) don't have clean fuel you've killed an injector... I have been told that in California, you can't even clean or rebuild a DPF legally, you are required to buy a new OEM DPF when your DPF fails. I hope I'm never in California. In order to extend DPF life, Mercedes, VW, and BMW have their own oil specifications which have about 500-600 PPM of phosphorous. They can do that because they build DOHC engines. I think a Ford PSD or any other OHV diesel would quickly fail if that kind of oil was used.

But take it on a weekly 1 hour long interstate trip, and use hot shot secret haven't got a chance to try the Archoil. I'm assuming alot of the fleet issues are due to idling for long periods, or constant in town deliveries.

    With all the sensors on the DPF, why doesn't the computer shut down the truck before damage occurs to the engine? I have a 2012 550 and had Ford flash the computer to allow me to do a commanded static regen. I can only do this when the DPF reaches 100 percent. I wish it could be commanded at lower levels. Is there anything other than not interrupting the regen process that can extend the life of the DPF SCR unit?

  • @FordF-Super
    @FordF-Super5 жыл бұрын

    This is why Ford should do a commercial or have informed dealerships on the 6.7 2017 and up, I have a 18’ I will never have a shop do a static regen, I have the OCR turned on in my truck, when I can no longer do a drive to clean, the truck prompts me to do a OCR, operator command regen, it’s a stationary regen, I just reached 50k, only had to do one OCR, now I jut ordered from Diesel Maintenance.Com,,,a foam cleaning package for cleaning DPF’s it cost me $385, they say you don’t need to remove the exhaust to do it, just remove the forward temp sensor and use their foam injection tool, but that’s another $400, I’ll just remove the exhaust, it don’t take long, and I will do this at 75k or maybe sooner, only folks who are not informed and don’t care about properly maintaining their diesel will suffer in the wallet. I enjoy maintaining my truck, makes me feel good,,,or for a low price of $2200 get the program and the owner can do forced regens, shops around here charge $800 for a forced regen, or like the mechanic in the video states, run good clean fuel, and service your engine oil and fuel filters regularly, I do my fuel filters every time I change my oil, 5k miles, and I run archoils fuel treatment every tank, all about taking care of your stuff and generally it will take care of you in the long run

    Run away. 6.4s have more issues than you can shake a stick at. Even deleted and a proper tune they have problems. Especially since your gonna be buying used. As for what to get depends. Do you care for the modern amenities like heated seats and audio controls or can you live without it. Personally i like the 7.3. Bullet proof motor. If your gonna get a 6.0 get a 05-07 truck the 03 and 04 tend to be a bit more problematic. I hope i got this comment to you before you got stuck with that 6.4
