I remember watching Skins and saying "Damn! this guy is the best actor here!" I'm so happy everybody is realizing that also.

Another great interview with these two, about Starred Up. Love getting their perspectives. One last comment and then I'll stop. (I seem to be on a roll.) Someone commented here on Jack's biceps and yes, they're lovely. But that then made me think about his overall appearance in this role. He's got a smaller frame, and an angelic 'choirboy' face. I suspect David McKenzie thought he was the ideal fit as a vulnerable-looking adolescent thrown into a predatory, violent environment, where he would be an instant target for all the worst reasons. As we soon see, his exterior belies the absolutely fierce, angry character inside. The contrast is brilliant.

Comment about actresses breasts...? Tasteless ,misogynistic and totally unnecessary. Had nothing do with her great acting chops. She definitely held her own in this male driven film. always loved your interviews, such a shame

OK, I have to say that I think you misunderstood him. My take on the question and the responses to it is that a woman, in that environment, would be a target for all sorts of attention. A woman whose physical presence is more 'dramatic' than average, draws even more attention, and it creates an additional element of tension around her character, and possibly speaks to the strength of the character (?). A less confident woman might try to minimize her physical appearance to deflect attention from it. This character is sending a message to those around her that she's not intimidated by her environment. Like she's saying 'Go ahead, look at me, I'm not bothered. I've got the power here, not you.' Of course I could be completely wrong! I'd love to know. Shame they didn't elaborate on it.
