So you know just how badly Ocala has changed. My mom came from Alliance, OH back in 76 so I was born and raised here when it was all farms, locals shops, community, Family, Faith and 200 was only 2 lanes. I miss those days so much! If I could afford it, i would move from here! I miss what Ocala was and all it stood for. Now it is just awful.

Unless you make 100k or more, you will not be able to afford it here. Birn and raised here and it is no longer Ocala. They have turned it into a nightmare and housing is not afforable by any means now. I grew up on the farms and one across the street was ran out and a housing development was built and you can't even build for less than 300k. It is not meant to be a metro area and yet the council makes it so, but will not address the housing crisis, poor education now and most of all, they cater to big business. Most of the mom and pop shops are done and gone...there aren't many left and we are trying to keep them open. It saddens me that Ocala has done a 180 from growing up. The council denied opening the airport back up (closed in 92) and instead of a six flags off of 75, they chose a damn golf country club! So many opportunities to get residents jobs lost all because these idiots line their pockets and screw the people!!

@@MultiTroy63 well. One more thing to take note of though. Large majority of the ocala population is older people, its known as one of the worst places to find a lover. And the people here arent too friendly. Of course some are, some are really sweet. But theres something strange about the people who live in ocala, people ain't too friendly here. So yeah, something to take note of.

Not much left! There are maybe 4 of them left. Born and raised in Ocala on a farm and have watched the disastrous changes and it breaks my heart. The farm across the street was run out and they built a fancy development and you can't get a house under 300k. There are not enough housing and the prices are beyond horrendous. The idiots that sold out Ocala have caused sky high prices, not enough homes and apartments are far a few between, but cost more than the average home mortgage per month. Heartbreaking and when you grew up with strong communty and never had to lock doors to having to lock doors and be careful where you go to because of the crime that has risen so much. Never did I think Ocala would become such a sellout.

@@The66StingRay Where did you move to ? Did you stay in Florida? I’m looking to move to Florida and am looking all over the state for the best area. I no a lot of people are moving ther so i no it’s gong to be hard to find a good place . I used to spend winters down there for about 10 years mostly in manatee county .

@@neverenough7767 hey there. I have lived in Ocala all my life, but work and school took me all over the country (entertainment design), but I always came back for visits or in between gigs. Sadly, Ocala is not what it used to be. I was severely injured on the job and had 4 surgeries and 3 more to go. Ocala was a wonderful place to live, caves, springs, zip lining, farms, a huge feel of community and a little bit of city, but always countryside. Now, the liberal and leftest council is delusional and believes Ocala is like NYC or Orlando. The cost of living is at least 6 times more than just 6 years ago. Housing is hard and most places you have to make 3 times the monthly rent (and the average rent is 1500-2300...2300 would be the highest for regular apartments and homes, which is just rent, utilities and etc are separate). FL is the most diverse in both population and activities available in South (but only location wise). I am from Ocala and have yet to meet any person native to FL have a southern accent. If you like city and able to branch out on weekends Orlando, Winter Garden and Altamonte Springs is good. If you like city, country and beach feel, Sarasota or Anna Marie Island are the best southern locales. If you like closer to other states then Destin is absolutely the best...you get beach, city, country, nature and close to several states. Gainesville in a college town and expensive. Tallahassee does have 3 universities, but you get city, country, close to beaches and other surrounding states. There is a Niceville, FL, but it is a small town and not much around. It really depends on what you like and can afford that you have to find that will mesh those two factors together. Miami is popular, but not worth the hassle that is happening now. My friends are trying to leave Miami and moving to areas that offer what they like. One went to Destin and said he will never move. Pensacola is a good place too, but Hurricane Maria and Irma wiped most of it out and they are rebuilding to this day. The place I would move to (if I could) would probably be Tallahassee...i loved it while at FSU and so much to do there and surrounding areas....plus you get more of seasons there. I am not really a beach person, so I only used to go on scuba diving trips...other than that, beaches just are not me. I like walking in nature, hiking, kayaking and things like that. But to be honest, I would truly move to cedar city, Utah or South Dakota if i could. Those places are fantastic, affordable and so much nature. Those two states were the best that i worked in for 4-7 months each. Hope this information helps, good luck and avoid Miami, Orlando and Ocala for the next few years though. Just as a heads up...it is not what the media would like you to believe. Ocala was all about God, Family, friends, neighbors and community, now it is the complete opposite. Miami and Orlando were always on the bad side, but it has gotten too bad now. If those do interest you, research which areas are better. I used to live in Orlando for 4 years, but I would not live there again...it was bad enough 2006-2010 and my neurosurgeon is there and i cannot wait to get back before i even get there...that is how bad it is. He flies in from West Palm and goes to NJ and NYC for surgeries, but prefers home in West Palm, he and his family could not take Orlando anymore. Good luck and i hope i gave you some information that helps you.

@@The66StingRay appreciate the info. All the areas you mentioned that were trashy I kinda new about . I would never live in Miami if my life depended on it lol . I have looked in west palm area but don’t no if I like it all that much anymore. I like Sarasota Bradenton as well . I just wanna make the right move because I no how many people are going there . And I don’t wanna be stuck in a trashy crime area . What I kinda want is to have a few acres and be about 20 30min away from the city . Orlando and all the main spots like that don’t interest me anymore. Thats funny you say Utah I’m not far from there now I live in Nevada and am in Salt Lake City all the time . I grew up east coast and moved on the west coast and love it . But Arizona Nevada even Utah is being invaded by liberal California and they are like cancer. They literally destroy every state it’s bad . So that’s why I’m leaving . South north Dakota and Idaho are cool as well but to cold in the winter . I no a lot of people have came to Florida but people from the west don’t like humidity so they won’t stay in Florida witch is a good thing lol .
