THINKING ABOUT OCALA? Do not move here before you watch this video...

Looking for the BEST PLACE TO LIVE IN FLORIDA or the BEST TO LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES? Or, maybe, the BEST PLACE TO RETIRE? Even the BEST PLACE FOR HORSES? This video is a tour around OCALA, the beautiful place in Florida that offers a perfect blend between city and country, also known as the "Horse Capital of the World." And, certainly, it is a complete "Playground for Horse lovers" due to its incredible equine infrastructure, fertile soil ideal for horses, and climate. Moreover, its privileged location, great climate, abundant places for outdoor activities throughout the year (rivers, lakes, public parks in natural preserves with trails for hiking, biking, and horse riding, and many golf courses), its proximity to the Florida’s coasts of the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic, and being surrounded by many fabulous cities such as Orlando and Tampa, make this unique place the ideal destination for families and for retirees to reside. To complete all this, Ocala area is a tranquil place, with fresh air, and wide green spaces, and with a lower cost of living than most areas in Florida, which, in turn, is one of the US states with the lowest cost of living.

I have been living here for over 6 yrs and I am not impresssed, to say it's beautiful and the best place in the state or country, really, that statement is unbelievable. This city is like all large cities, full of crime, noise, traffic and bad people. If you live near sw 200 you can enjoy hearing cars racing and ambulance sirens 7 days a week. I almost forgot the obnoxoiusly loud mufflers that everyone seems to love. You can also enjoy beggers sitting on sw200 asking for money and leaving all there trash behind, no police anywhere so drivers do whatever they want. If you want to run red lights, speed, race, drive unsafe vehicles, tailgate no problem go ahead because no police around to stop you. I did live in Citrus county for over 10yrs and it was much nicer and peaceful. If you drive to the other side of the city you see old run down businesses and more .

Ocala is a unique city of a nice blend of the old and new. The downtown / historical district is interesting with a old town square. There appears to be new condo developments spouting up new downtown to help generate residential living there. Marion Oaks is an unincorporated area south of the city limits with new but modest single home constitution. Really good customer services here in the area. Currently new gated home communities being built. Crime is always an issue in any growing city. I came from Miami and I love the space and bike riding trails / roadways here. Suggest you visit the area first for a week as it is not for everyone. If you are retired and need social clubs, the Villages 30 minutes from Marion Oaks is a good option if you don't mind the price. There is no Costco warehouse here if you are a member, closes one is north of Tampa off of I-75.
