Drugs are the problem how can you hold down a job. You have to have a clear mind to hold a job. This pure laziness. I worked two jobs when raising my son and I not saying I was perfect but I resolved my issues and stayed with my jobs. I was a single mom and now older and still work. I try my sister thinks I should give it up because I have some aches and pains but I want to try I don’t think sitting around is healthy. I ask my maker for help and he does everyday thanking him for my life.😊💟✝️🙏

Not being able to afford housing, leads to being on the streets, that leads to depression, alcohol and drug use. Some of these people are ok they just need to be able to afford an apartment something that Denver lacks for sure.

I'm part native American and part European. I love living in a tent (not joking). I do bicycle packing and motorcycle camping. I've slept outdoors very comfortably in winter Utah. Personally I much, much rather be outdoors than in a shelter and absolutely do not share your "awful experience" thoughts. I believe you are lumping all "homeless" together and giving it a stigma. Yes, there are folks that have special needs or are not fit enough but not all. I say it is entirely possible folks feel down and potentially use drugs to escape the stigma being heaped up on them in the media and especially by politicians (in California) who are obviously corrupt with the federal funding for the "homelessness crisis".

In the 80's and 90's we hardly see any homeless people. The economic and business were booming everywhere back then and this country looked so promising. What had happened that there are so many homeless people in the U.S today? It's getting so bad and they are taking over our downtown area, driving out most of the business. The homeless people are setting up tents at every corner, causing health issue and this country is changing for a bad reason while China is building and gaining influence everywhere.

Wrong... There are not many homeless shelters in Denver (For a single male only 3 for about 900 beds) 2 for women & maybe 2 for families and they are slowly being taken over by immigrants and are very dangerous... Also, The Mayor says he's going to get 1000 people off of the streets by the end of the year but has put only 120 people in Homeless motels thus far... The only people being put in the motels are the tent dwellers that do drugs all day right in front of the Governors Mansion... Getting in to a shelter (at your own risk) is so difficult that you have to get on a list and sometimes they skip you and it can take a long time to get in... Also, The number if homeless people in Denver is drastically understated and is probably 3 times more than whzt is being reported... They are counting people checked into shelters and maybe have an estimate of people that are visibly in tents on the street... I know first hand that there are many people that are homeless and aren't visible and stay hidden out of sight... All this big talk in the local news about micro homes and motels to help and transition people into permanant housing are not being utilized properly and the problem continues to grow with drugs, crime & violence getting worse by the day... Things are already out of control with our own homeless problem and now we have to deal with all of the immigrants too... I don't ever see this problem going away anytime soon...

Try asking how many already being through the program(s). There are few that just need somewhere to sleep. And a whole lot .ore that need. Mental health help. Lots with PTSD from when they were children. Our wonderful education system failed them. We are going in circles with the "homeless" look we need to help the Mental health homeless, the drug addicts homeless. In order to afford affordable housing you have to have a job. You cant do that when you Rather get high all day. Denver used to be "cowtown" not we are a over crowded New YorkLaTexas. We are over spending on homeless meanwhile we shutting down schools left and right. What sense does it make to build a family? Affordable housing in an area where there are no schools. We will go back to over crowded schools again. For the people who have lived in denver before the Cannabis Rush i.e before 2010. We are having the same issue as before. Name one new Denver Rec center. Wbere is all the cannabis taxes going????

  • @WN_Byers

The taxes over the projected first year earnings are rolled over into the general fund. Remember when we voted on whether or not to get those refund checks for about $15 per person, after the first year of adult-use cannabis? Well the People voted against the refund. Also a consequence of that vote, was, all proceeds over the initial projected revenue totals for the forst year would no longer be decided by voters, but rather roll over into the general fund. This is one of the five greatest mistakes made within Colorado cannabis framework, and has unfortunately been copied by vulture like 'policiticans' and greedy lobbyists that value their own gain over benefiting We the People
