Downloading, Installing and Patching Snap Camera on Mac OS

Video guide on how to download, install and patch Snap Camera 1.21 on Mac OS.
The signature patch will re-enable Snap Camera after the shutdown on January 25, 2023 and bring back all missing Snap Lenses with Snap Camera Server v3 on your Mac computer.

Run this script after patching:

Or manually execute the steps:
1. Making the patched file executable:
chmod +x "/Applications/Snap Camera.app/Contents/MacOS/Snap Camera"
2. Removing the Mac OS code signing:
sudo codesign --remove-signature "/Applications/Snap Camera.app/"
3. Remove extended file attributes:
sudo xattr -cr "/Applications/Snap Camera.app"
4. Check your Mac OS security settings if the application can't be opened or run the command:
sudo spctl --add "/Applications/Snap Camera.app"

Background information:
Snap Camera was a popular application that allowed users to add Snapchat-like filters and lenses to their desktop camera. The app was initially launched in 2018 as a standalone application for Windows and macOS and was an instant hit among creators, gamers, and influencers.
The application allowed users to choose from hundreds of filters and lenses, including those created by Snapchat's community of lens creators. Snap Camera integrated seamlessly with video conferencing apps like Zoom, Skype, and Google Meet, allowing users to add a fun element to their virtual meetings and calls.
However, on January 25, 2023, Snap Camera reached its end of life. This means that the application is no longer being updated or supported, and users can no longer download it from the Snap Camera website or app stores.

What folder do the new downloaded filters go or can I only use the ones available?
I only got to the first step of downloading it. But I can't open the application at all. I am still on the OS Big Sur. I deleted the original app a week ago when it first stopped responding.

Hello, I made all steps from video, run application from "Launchpad" but in snap camera app I still doesn't see any filters. ( I tried on MacBook 14-inch, 2021M1PRO OS version: 13.4 (22F66) ). Maybe you know how can I fix this?

if you remove the code sign on M2 Pro with Ventura the app will not open at all, ideas? ty!

Hi, i was wondering if there's anyone got a problem of choosing snap camera in zoom camera after u updated to macos 14, my zoom camera doesnt appear the option for choosing snap camera, thanks

Hi, is your snap camera now appearing in zoom?
today I randomly realized that SnapCamera isn't showing up on my device list anymore. I've tried all the meeting apps and even did a reinstall, but SnapCamera is nowhere to be found in the camera options. Is anyone else dealing with the same issue as me?

I was struggling with the same problem but I just figured it out. I asked ai it and it said "Don’t worry, your Terminal is actually accepting your password input. For security reasons, when you type your password into the Terminal, you won’t see any characters appear (not even asterisks *). This is a common practice in Unix-based systems to prevent anyone from looking over your shoulder to see the length of your password. So, when you see Password: 🔑, just type your password and press Enter. Even though it doesn’t look like you’re typing anything, your password is being entered. If your password is correct, the command will execute. If it’s not, Terminal will tell you it’s incorrect and ask you to try again."
