@Kingmoshi Downfall was nominated for 1 Oscar - Best Foreign Film, but lost to a Spanish Film called The Sea Inside, which no-one has ever heard of. Ganz should have been nominated for best actor IMHO. Jamie Foxx won it for Ray that year. Downfall and Ganz, however, won a bunch of other awards from various countries and various film societies.

Very very good movie. Massive respect to Bruno for his portrayal of Hitler. Man put everything he had into it! Go original subtitled version, carries far more weight than a trash voice over.

I always wondered what it must have been like for Germany at the end knowing they had conquered so far only to lose everything in the end. This film is the most realistic depiction of what it must have been like.

​@@rome316ae3seems like you don't know much. A whole generation got absolutely traumatized by everything they had to endure during the war. Families lost farthers and sons, many people had to flee and relocate etc. And they passed the trauma onto their children, too. That ofc is true for every country that suffered under the Reich, as well.

This movie does an unbelievable job of capturing the sheer madness that took place in the final days of the Reich. Bruno Ganz performance is spell binding.

One of the best movies I've ever seen. True masterpiece.

I’ve seen every World War II movie ever made. From 1993s ‘Stalingrad ‘ to the epic horror ‘ Come and see’. I’ve seen saving private Ryan to post war films like ‘ The third Man ‘. After saying this , “ Downfall” is the best ww2 film I’ve ever seen. It’s historical accuracy is beyond any which we have ever seen . The portrayal of Hitler by Bruno Ganz is other worldly . This , this is an epic film.

I would say: Downfall Twelve o’clock high Come and see Dunkirk and Oppenheimer- Christopher Nolan have to put both of them in there and my last pic would probably be… A Bridge too far

Watching all the parodies finally got me to get around to watching the actual movie. I can say I was not disappointed

This movie was based on a book by Hitler's secretary. As was shown in the movie she survived the war. She never talked about her experiences in the bunker for most of her life but towards the end she realized that once she died the story would be lost forever. That's what persuaded her to write the book.

This movie was outstanding. .. In Naples florida for 3 months on 2 screens all kinds of times... the theater was full... during the movie you could have heard a pin drop... no lie.... Ganz was outstanding

Yes as with Das Boot I simply won’t ever degrade the artistic accomplishment of these performances and perfection of hard work in the art of film. As I child I was mesmerized by sir Alec Guinness The Bunker but this version hits so damn hard it’s the total absolute madness of world shattering history; you watch it and a side of your brain doesn’t want to believe any of it and now it’s the stuff of legend and despair .

Bruno Ganz`s best role ever. RIP Bruno.

The best movie I have ever seen of history that takes us back to that dreadful time of defeat and loss

The casting is Amazing. No other film about Hitler came close to this one. Many others in his inner circle were also brilliantly portrayed. This is a jaw-dropping account of the reality of the Hitler's 'party' ending. I've seen this several times and I still walk away shaken and emotional.

geez I didn't see hitler but as if I already seen him because of this movie. This movie made me so sad specially the children part.

Sad that movie like this will never be made again.. the acting ,the melancholic setting, the bleakness.

Very good acting Bruno in " the unknown"

I was completely mesmerized as a ten year old allowed to stay up late at night at my aunts house and as luck would have it we watched Sir Alec Guinness as Hitler in the Bunker film. Turned me into a history buff and war geek I refuse to compare this film with that one they're both works of art BUT the native German and English subtitles I mean just like in DAS BOOT you really can't compete with that don't even try . 💯👑💯👑

Seen this movie before the acting was brilliant .Bruno Franz did a excellent portrayal of the madness of Hitler the other actors did a good portrayal of the sort of crazy loyalty that the German population seemed to have for Hitler even though he destroyed their world.

It's an awesome movie. I watched it during lockdown. Awesome, the man who act as hitler is excellent. ❤️❤️❤️❤️No words to say about his acting

A masterpiece!

I really hate to see a movie this important/good turned into a meme. This is some grade A cinema and considering the topics it deals with is best treated with dignity and respect.
