Many thanks, James. Great that you were able to be there to film some of your (and my) favourite players.

Pops, bought your book, Enjoying Traditional Jazz, for Information about Marla Dixon, and her Band. And what a treasure trove, the book arrived on 1st August 2021. Your overall approach was a joy, I have no clue about the technical stuff the first 32 bars ect. I don’t play musical Instruments. I do love to listen to this type of music, well to be honest, all sorts, Jazz, Blues, anything with a bit of soul, Pops, the way you explain thing’s is fantastic, your enthusiasm rubs off right from your opening line. Your love for Trad Jazz shines through, your overall knowledge, and your Interaction with the band members, make this a very enjoyable read. Your technical knowledge, is an added bonus, even if I still don’t have a clue, but for others that do, it’s great for them. I would highly recommend this book, and I will buy your other one shortly about Shaye Cohen, and Tuba Skinny. All the artists you talk about, make watching the videos, even better as it’s getting to know who’s who. Thanks again 🙂Stan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Thanks for those very kind words, Stan. Actually, I'm a bit of a fraud as I am not a trained musician. My interest in traditional jazz started about thirty years ago, when I was in my fifties, so I am self-taught but have spent hundreds of hours on the hobby. I learned to play the cornet - not very well but enough to get by. I learned a lot from books, from tutorials on the internet, from listening carefully to bands and talking to musicians. It's only been in the last fifteen years that I have come to appreciate structures of tunes and especially the importance of chord sequences.

@@PopsCoffee Well I think your “ Top of the Pops” and it’s 🧢🎩off to you, your The proof, that by applying yourself, and “sticking to the task” it shows what you can achieve. Pops, another thing that springs to mind, Is that age is no barrier. You are in my eyes a “ real gentleman “ and that’s the “best” compliment, an Englishman🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 will get from a Scotsman 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 it’s only when we meet on the football ground, or the rugby park, that our views, might differ.😂 cheers Pops 😉Stan

Ah, if only you knew, Stan! My focus on music over recent years has resulted in my dearest and nearest finding me obsessive, pedantic and boring! As for pride in being English, that has been severely dented since this xenophobic country chose to negotiate worse trade deals with its neighbours than it previously had, to drive out our lovely European doctors, nurses, lorry drivers and farm workers, to reduce the freedom of movement of my grandchildren, and to make it almost impossible for our musicians to work and tour in the rest of Europe.

@@PopsCoffee Pops, Everything you say, is sadly correct, where is it all going to end? But In the meantime, at least, we can revel in this “ good “ music, and keep on “ dreaming “ because at the end of the day, we must keep, on our toes!!!

Love that old tune. Not used to it at that fast tempo; works well. So much first line that I can barely hear the bass; no guitar. But it is a great arrangement.

I have seen Molly with the New Orleans Jazz Vipers, Shake Em Up, The World's Finest Apples, and Shotgun Jazz Band among others. New Orleans musicians are constantly sitting in with various bands in the city, sometimes temporarily, sometimes as permanent members.
