Dowelling Made Easy with the Milescraft JointPro

The slightly loony Phoebe Everill (from the Phoebe Everill School for Wood) takes us through the process of accurately dowelling - using the Milescraft Dowelling Jig. In this tutorial, Phoebe shows us how to set up for setting a shelf, a corner joint and a butt joint. Plus a little madness thrown in just in case...

Great video. I’m not sure why more people aren’t talking about this. It’s a game changer in regards to dowls. There are many more expensive dowel jigs that cost so much more than this

The corner joint is out of alignment at the ends, same for the other video on the distributors site. I'm hoping this is just the result of a TV-speed demo, but need proof of accuracy before geting one.

I just tried an 18mm board, same guide position (hard up against the stop) same 8mm bit and I had to pack the top pad 0.5mm shim to get a dowel hole in the centre.. Again terribly inaccurate. If this comes down to a mix of imperial frame casting size and metric guide inserts, that cause this then it is totally unsatisfactory. If it's something else and I am not fully understanding how to use this jig, then I'll take advice, but I think/hope I know what I'm doing. Rob

I just purchased the jointpro set but using 8mm dowel for 17mm timber it does not reach the center. The only thing I can think of is removing the plates but then the offset body will be too thick

Did you ever solve your problem? The reason I ask is that it is made clear that the centre line marker on the jig has to match the centre line on the wood, which all makes sense. But I don't see any way to make adjustments if they don't line up and there was nothing in this clip to explain how to line them up when they don't match.
