Dover: Defense, DNFs, and Dipping After Your Favorite Driver Wrecks

Спорт

After a weekend at Dover, Brett Griffin, T.J. Majors, and Casey Boat are back on Door Bumper Clear to break down the action from an eventful weekend at the Monster Mile. The topic of air blocking takes center stage, as Denny Hamlin used the Next Gen car to play defense to secure a win against Kyle Larson. The spotters offer their insights on the potential impact of racing dynamics if the rear-view camera gets removed. Freddie explains what happened in Bubba Wallace’s wreck and whether Zane Smith or Tyler Reddick was at fault.
In Spot On, Spot Off, the table analyzes Carson Kvapil’s second top-five finish in his first two Xfinity Series starts and reiterates the urgency for Ford to get a win after coming up short in the first 11 races of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.
During Reaction Theater, the crew listens to fan feedback, including one caller's excitement about Dover Motor Speedway's proximity to a casino. Lastly, they delve into the potential implications of moving Super Bowl Sunday and what it would mean for the Daytona 500.

@@NickyD What Gravy said. Less practice benefits HMS. The have better simulators for their drivers, while smaller teams may not even have direct access to one. More practice is exactly what we need. Not only will that help increase on-track action, it's going to give some of the backmarker guys a little more confidence to push through the field.

To the guy that called and talked about fan access....go to an NHRA event and then come back and talk about fan access. NASCAR is garbage when you compare the two. I can be 5ft away from the car, driver, and crew while they are servicing the car at NHRA for no extra charge. While at NASCAR I would have to fork over a ton of money or know the right people. As a 40+ year NASCAR guy that would be one of the areas that I feel they should really look to improve upon. Driver name here will never remember talking to me or taking a picture with me but I will forever and that's a huge part of the fan experience and growing/retaining the fanbase.

Optional practice should be made available to everyone the day before the race about the same time of day. Give ea car 1 set of tires for the practice that doesn't count towards race tires. 12g over the curb is the result of having no suspension travel. They have no suspesion travel left at speed because of aero. Ditch the diffusers and the splitters, and suddenly the risk of injury goes down, because they'll have to rely on mechanical grip and functional suspensions.

In fact I am fairly confident that if prepared a team could do this in less than 20 minutes. Teams can simply have spare coil overs set up and ready to bolt on, and I don't want to hear about the expense for this either. Shit is expensive. Nothing NASCAR has done has truly saved a team money as they just reallocate those funds. Give us 2 hour long practices each weekend. One before q and one after. race the next day, 2 day show.

The races will never get better as long as nascar runs the wide tire they have now with the low profile sidewalls. I have worked on racing tires for 25 yrs. I can take a bondo file and add grip to a tire or take it away. I can add camber or take it away. All of that with just a bondo file. You can really do some fine work with tire cutters. The thinner the rubber the faster the tire will be because you get rid of the tire heat. Add rubber to a racing tire and it will slow down because the heat builds up and can't escape . If you round the edges off the tire it takes away static grip .Nascar needs to raise the cars 3 inchs and get that splitter and defuser off the ground. That's were all the aero blocking is coming from. That is what they need to do at north wilksboro instead of different compound tires.

It will take about 2 years to fix NASCAR…Anyone not currently in NASCAR could do better..I could do better..you have to set your ego aside and only focus on getting it right..they run he sport looking in the rearview mirror..
