Exactly, I have seen a lectured of a historically knowledgeable man who has pointed out (besides of course many things we knew, like that many nations had slavery, UK and US were first ones to stop slavery, etc.) But also how at least the UK colonialism (as that's the one he spoke about) brought about justice, equal rights, education, medicine, to make colonized nations. (Ghandi famously refused medicine for his wife, but later accepted it for himself.) He was also not-white as far as I remember, if race somehow matters more to you than facts and reality. So of course colonialism is wrong and is of a previous time. But history is faaaar more nuanced than "white people trying to take over all the peace and love, loving nations," like some who I would call "propogandists", would like you to believe.

The other day, someone asked me if I cared about freedom for Palestinians and I said, “Well, I have a preposition for you,” and he said, “What’s that?” so I said, “I prefer freedom from Palestinians" but he didn’t get it.

The Turks came originally from Mongolia, they colonised Byzantium(what they now call Turkye), Syria, Iran, Tadijkistan, Kirgistan, Turkemnistan (also Turks). They were worse slave traders than the Europeans also. But nobody cares. The muslim Arabs conquered what is niw Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Sudan, Morocco, Tunesia, Algiers, Syria, etc. Slavery was abolished in the 1960s and 1970's, a 100 years later than in Europe. They held more slaves than us and the Barbary muslims captured 1,5 million Europeans also, who they sold in Arab countries. But in these peoples eyes only Europe is to blame. I (personally) feel no guilt about what people may or may not have done long before I was born. The countries of the former British Empire asked for and were give independence. The people's of those countries then had a responsibility to built the prosperity of those countries, just as Japan did after WWII. However instead of building their own countries up, many just left and came to the West with an entitled attitude. 🤗 --- ,,,--- In his book, "Africa Must Unite" Nkrumah writes about a vision of Africa as a powerful unity feeding and leading the Whole World to a brighter Future, after African countries gain independence. Those African Countries gained independence in the early 60's and the opposite has happened.

Firstly.....even if a country was built upon immigrants and immigration...THE CURRENT CITIZENS, IF THEY DO INDEED RUN THEIR OWN DEMOCRACY, HAVE THE RIGHT TO DETERMINE WHO DOES AND DOES NOT IMMIGRATE! It does not mean that foreigners get to point out past immigration to force current citizens to let them in...NOT! Secondly, a culture built upon various immigrant groups DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT DOES NOT HAVE A DOMINANT OR OVER-ARCHING CULTURE...Even if the various groups come from different countries, over time they agree to, and uphold, an ACCEPTED culture...even if it offers varying beliefs, religions, etc. Thirdly, every country has the RIGHT to determine who becomes a new citizen...AND TO PROTECT ITS CURRENT AGREED UPON CULTURE FROM THOSE WHO DON'T WANT TO UPHOLD THAT CULTURE. Immigrants are now DEMANDING that they are allowed to become citizens for no other reason than the recognition that the countries they wish to enter had immigration in the past...WRONG ATTITUDE! It's clear that immigrants are using liberal western values to EXTORT HOST COUNTRIES INTO LETTING THEM IN...AND BREAKING THE RULES AND LAWS OF THE HOST COUNTRIES. This is not immigration as it was intended, but guilt, extortion, blaming and rewriting history and standards. Lastly...low-skill immigrants are a NET DRAIN on the host country, not a net gain...as they use entitlement and socially funded institutions that are meant for the poor. AND......if Canada paid its workers enough to have children, immigration WOULD NOT BE NEEDED. Immigration today is a complete and utter SCAM by gov't and the big corporations...to circumvent democracy, pay lower wages, cause disintegration of social cohesion....and to destroy any sense of social unity....lest that social unity BOOTS GOV'T AND THE BIG CORPORATIONS OUT!!

It's ironic that a spaniard at the beginninmg asked that question when Spain was invaded and had Islam imposed on it until the fight back 700 years later.

Because we are being taught in schools how to memorize data, rather than how to listen, see what makes sense, verify, look at truth, wanting to know more, coming to a conclusions, seeing if something is a genuine full perspective or just a personal trigger.... etc. I will stand in my lifetime that we teach this as a standard in schools.

In New Zealand we have this: "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience, religion and belief, including the right to adopt and to hold opinions without interference." NZ Bill of Rights Act 1990. Im sure every country has this - find it and memorise it and then USE IT.

One or two? One or two million more like it. Why do these people keep talking about the wealth taken from these undeveloped areas of the world? . These resources are useless if left in the ground ,or left undeveloped. The European colonial powers developed these places which were not countries . Left to the inhabitants these resources would still be where they were and the people counting wealth by cattle and not even having a wheel! The Europeans improved these areas immeasurably. We are supposed to accept that colonialism was a bad thing but overall the European Empires,especially the British brought untold benefits to these primitive places , large areas would have been left a wilderness were it not for the British and French and Dutch. The Ottoman Empire conquered developed states ,existing organized and modern countries and subjected the people to a degrading existence. The Europeans raised up people , the Ottomans subjugated them. It is time to start to start instructing the youth about the good that the European empires did for this world.

Douglas is so right about only Europeans being asked to pay restitution. One of my favourites is when the moors of North Africa invaded Spain and eventually tried to invade France. All that was said about this was what amazing architecture, science and medicine they brought to Spain? How come the positives of European technology is never seen in this way?

I think the reason why only European countries are criticised is because other regimes won’t allow criticism!
