Doug Polk on Upswings, Downswings and Mastering Ego #61

Спорт

In This Week’s Episode:
Doug Polk is known as one of the (if not THE) best Heads Up No Limit Holdem players of all time. In addition to making a name for himself on the tables, he made waves in the poker community by not being afraid to speak his mind and call out other players.
He’s also had success in the live poker arena with two WSOP bracelets and over $5 million in earnings.
Since starting his training site, Upswing Poker, he’s become one of the most popular personalities in the poker world with one of the top viewed Twitch Stream and KZread channels in poker.
In This Episode You’ll Learn:
What Doug did when he lost 90% of his net worth and had to decide between giving poker one last go, or finding another path. How to prevent your ego from getting in the way of being honest about your opponent’s strengths and weaknesses. The most important mindset to embrace if you have trouble with tilt. What you should do when you notice your confidence slipping after losing 30+ buy-ins. How Doug worked his way back from a massive $1.7 million downswing.

i love challenging people in the chat during a poker match who try to diss me, and their replies only further show how dumb they are, and i just keep going on and on and laugh at what comes back!

If Polk has mastered ego then I'm the pied piper. Sorry but I'd feel worse for not saying it than for saying it, not to say I feel great about pointing it out. He's an expert poker player, but lacks knowledge in so many other areas of life. That'd be fine, if it weren't for him talking as if he is an authority on the latter issues. The comments re not donating to charity, were so poorly researched, couldn't be further from the truth, were potentially damaging for those that the comments influenced & the charities they do/may support, and spoken in such an authoritative tone by Polk. I can't get over that. It was irresponsible as hell, and deserves to be called out on it. The day he issues an apology on that will be the day that I accept he's mastered ego.

    1. he didnt said at any point he mastered ego....and he didnt. he would admit it if you would ask him, he is a honest person. 2. i like his comment to present own opinion about others in some way. because if u not mention what is you bothering u kinda live no life...

The first thing about you'd take an average 1/2 grinder playing his A game over an average 25/50 grinder playing his c game really needs to be removed, it's quite fun for recreational players to hear and people who don't really have a clue, but anyone who is playing mid/high stakes realizes that is obviously a terribly loosing proposition, and it's never going to be close.....that is quite litterally showing whoever is saying that is probably some whale live player that litterally doesn't have a clue.....not a good thing to start a podcast out with when the statement that is being made is so so so far from reality it's rediculous. I've been hearing that at the beginning for litterally years now and it's just getting really old.......it's fucking not true
