Because they acknowledge the issue and have fixed it, as they've done in the past, saying sometimes it's a mistake. But this time, I felt it's on purpose, even though they fixed it within an hour. Maybe they get a decent boost in the 1st hr this way? dk.

Actually, for the longest time, I wanted to maintain a clean Arch installation with no DE or even a WM. Of course, I caved eventually and installed KDE (which is spectacular these days), but for a while, all I used was Elinks. Spectacular.

@@racingbeats1493 he has the choice to put 7video a week or not, I've been watching and loving ltt for a while now, but the simple fact that a huge majority of their video has great quality doesn't mean I can't critisize a bad quality one. I get that they have to put a load of work into their video,.. but I'd rather have another video made slightly better and not have this one rather than having a literal 8mins video about a portable battery. It's an 8mid add for a dumb battery and there is nothing wrong with saying that.

Good to see you guys put some serious load into the power bank, very rare to see the product putting through its pace in an actual showcase. I am interest in getting a power bank for a chromebook. How is the thermal of the battery and voltage stability though? If a manufacture is comfortable enough to let you guys put it through a full load they should let you share more data points.

Anker sells a same capacity battery bank at half the price. Maybe if Mophie wasn't paying for 8 minute advertisements they would be able to charge less

@@CaveyMoth I have no problem with them doing paid ads - and I bet the battery bank is just fine. But they actually did a whole video about how they were going to do better with video titles. Linus sounded serious in the video. But we're not seeing that carry through. Some of the others he said escaped quality control, ok, that happens and nobody is perfect. But people who are literally willing to pay them with actual money to support their work told them this was a bad title a week ago, and they still went with it - and apparently they still "forgot" to make sure that the misleading title was clearly marked as a paid ad. Why the crazy code words if they actually want to be transparent about what the videos are? Why call a paid ad spot a "showcase" instead of "paid ad"? I'm not rage quitting floatplane or commenting to slag them - I'm happy to continue supporting my fellow Canadians, but it's frustrating when they seem unable to learn from mistakes (or perhaps they fail to acknowledge mistakes). There is so much good, high quality content coming from this group of talented people that videos like this erode trust inordinately quickly.

Been awhile since we had one of those vids & this vid reminded me of them cuz am trying to get the TS80 USB-C soldering iron to work w/ a QC3.0 power bank....as I found out, not all of em are created equal. At the end of the day don't go with a Mophie battery there are better options and more cheaper but still respectable brand like aukey Rav power and Anker. And if the reviews are good you can go with a sorta not really a brand it works for me

3 out of their last 4 videos have been sponsored showcases and NONE of them have been labeled as promised. The Colorful AIO showcase was still acceptable because it's just an unboxing with Linus's thoughts and benchmark numbers but these other two are absolutely insulting. Hell, the other two videos (Monday.com and Colorful PC still dont have showcase in the titles). My goodwill towards LTT only allows me to watch so many ads.

@@yausernametaken The Colorful AiO is sponsored but not a showcase, so ostensibly those are his actual opinions. The Monday.com video says it's sponsored like twenty times in the video (to the point that people are joking about it in the comments there). I imagine they did that because showcase seems like an odd title for it since it's not a physical product or even a piece of software. I could be remembering it wrong, but I think the thing Linus promised was that after the initial clickbait wave came in they'd retitle it to accurately reflect the content. As you can see, this one is now titled showcase.

1. You can not measure battery drain by 100%->50% and then 50%->0%. Because of diffrent voltages the DC-DC converters work diffenrently. So the dropping is not linear.. 2. At start of video you said that espacially macbooks are picky and then only test with the razer blade. Doesn't it work with the macbook?

I was disappointed by this video. Should have gone into underclocking and undervolting. edit: Since I'm afraid of ending up on the WAN show, I am not saying this should have been in the video. I am saying that the title is misleading about how informative the video will be. It is like saying extend your battery life by plugging in your laptop to the wall.

This makes more sense for a switch. Whenever I pull my laptop out to use there's usually a wall outlet near by if I need a little bit more juice.

I always wanted to use my phone's battery bank to charge my laptop... sadly it doesn't work that way. But this is really cool and interesting. I might have to buy 1

@@mom_power138 Who actually uses Bluetooth? I have a headphone jack, also, wifi/3g is an absolute necessity on a computer/smartphone.

I might be wrong, but I believe the test where you plugged the thing in to check how much would drain on the laptop from 50% was flawwed. As I understand it batteries and capacitors discharge on a curve, and discharge the higher percentage faster than the lower percentage (it's a LOG graph essentially). This is true for voltage, however percent should correct for the log scale. 0%-50% should be the same anount of energy as 50%-100% (I say should because measuring battery power difficult and complex) I would be interested to see any other info you may have on the topic, though. It may vary by devices or something like that.

They should have tested 100% to 0%. For both with and without the battery pack. Laptop batteries don't discharge linearly from 100% to 0%, so there extrapolated graphs are useless... I feel like they were told by Mophie to fudge the numbers with their specified test or they only gave yourselves like half a day for the experiment stuff in this video. Either way, this video's conclusions are disappointing and unreliable.

A bigger test range is better and a 0-100 test is not that hard to do. It could be that they think that 50-100 is a more normal use case?. I also agree that this video is well below their normal standards, even for product showcases.

Cool, didn't know they are starting to make USB-PD power banks at 45W. The more common non-smartphone models are typically 30W (20V@1.5A) which isn't quite enough for mid level x86 platforms.

The trouble with PD in power banks is that you can easily encounter revers charge. When USB-C from the laptop is able to provide more power than the power bank itself than you will charge power bank instead of power bank charging your laptop.

Nope. Depending on the specific battery, both types can be very unstable and cause fires and explosions. I would guess Li-ion are the more unstable ones, but both technologies are problematic. Just search KZread if you want evidence ;)

Did the Powerstation Hub stop existing? I can't find it on Amazon, and their website throws a 404 when clicking on it.

My laptop doesn’t have USB C how can I charge with power bank?

I'd rather see that thing be put under a Finnish hydraulic press, to be honest.

so i have a question, the laptops with replaceable batteries, why won't the laptop detect a bigger battery?

Couldn't you also just use a regular Powerbank when your laptop can be charged via USB C?

No, that is the whole issue with this video, the power bank needs to have the PD (power delivery) feature. He says that it charges "some" laptops instead of explaining that it has to do with voltages and amperage. DP can be 12, 15, 18, or 20V and you need to know what the powerbank outputs in order to know if it charges your laptop.

@@Napa39 Have you ever looked in the back of a High School Year Book? A whole bunch of local businesses have ads in it. When the carnival comes to town, local shops have a table in the merchant tent, usually with free pens, pencils, refrigerator magnets, frisbees, chip clips, or bottle openers with that business's name on it. There are so many ways to advertise, the only limit is your imagination, or the law... I remember the Sony PSP had a grafiti marketing campaign that ended in a lawsuit.

Fall for what? It says "sponsored" in the first couple seconds of the video. If we were trying to deceive anyone don't you think we'd be a little more subtle?

I just watched an eight-minute ad, when does the video start? xD

Will it actually work plugging in your laptop with lower power input? I tried using a 60w power adapter that requires 65w on my dell laptop and windows started complaining.

So if you sit down to game, immediately plug in the battery bank so both batteries die at the same time.

Feels like this could be a 30 second product feature: "the average battery banks doesnt work with some laptops so lets try this one... show the charts and end it." Like come on this is stupid.

Please , My laptop original battery shows 55 wh , but the other new batter shows 5200 mAh and the Lipton is soo slow and gets fast only when I plug in the charger , please tell me the meaning of 55 wh and is it as 5200 mah 🤨
